After 3 full failed IVF's last year, I am about to embark on my second last attempt. I started an IVF thread during my last IVF, and everyone got pregnant but me. So I swore I wouldn't do that again this time. But I find myself wanting to chat with people going through what I am, so I am starting the thread again. Join me as I seem to be a BFP magnet!

Hi Liquorice. Yes, we're going to try with our frosty next cycle. I have to call up on cd1 and start buserelin on cd21, so ET will be in June sometime.

Shellster52 · 01/05/2014 05:23

Sounds like you met the right person to have a sob to purple. Hope time goes quick for both of us so we can get on with our next step rather than dwelling on our failed ones.

Not meaning to ignore everyone else. Just haven't seen many recent updates to know how you're going. Hope you're all okay? Carrie, my next cycle. Day one of my next cycle should be around 16th May. Is that around when you are trying again?

It's gone very quiet on this thread, how is everyone getting on?

I've got a week of down reg left until I have baseline scan and hopefully starts stims. Been really lucky haven't really had any side effects apart from being tired. Looking forward to hopefully starting the next stage in a weeks time!

Hope you are all ok!

Liquoriceallsort · 01/05/2014 18:33

Hi happily!
I am on day 5 of injections... Scan tomorrow to determine EC.

Liquoriceallsort · 01/05/2014 18:34

Exciting that you only have a week left, it will fly by!

purplemeggie · 01/05/2014 21:09

That is exciting...both of you - how are you feeling, Liquorice? Have you had any side-effects?

Liquoriceallsort · 01/05/2014 22:10

No, maybe it isn't working Shock

Happilymarried155 · 02/05/2014 07:09

Ha ha! That's exactly what I've thought about my medication!! What are you taking? I haven't had any side effects with the buserilin and I didn't when I took the menapor for iui and that worked perfectly so try not to worry! X

Shellster52 · 02/05/2014 07:21

So your are our next BFP candidate on this thread LIuorice Can't wait to hear how your scan goes. I am still waiting to start my IVF so living through other peoples IVF is as close as I can get to the action!

Liquorice and happily, I never had any side effects either, I dont think its that unusual.

Shellster, I have to wait out this month, still mot had my first bleed and then need to wait til my next so will at least be june probably july before I start again. So not long now before you go again, I shall be stalking this thread with fingers crossed.

Great that you are going again so quickly purple, no time to dwell on the past, hope that little frostie is the one.

Liquoriceallsort · 02/05/2014 11:40

Just got back from the scan… good and bad I suppose.

Follies coming along ok, largest on one side was 9mm which at 5 days is good apparently.

Unfortunately on the other side there was just one huge one (18mm) and the rest were small. I think there were 24 in total across both. The nurse said usually after one gets to 18mm the rest stop growing… which means I would have to abandon this cycle. I am back in on Monday to find out whether any have progressed.

Liquoriceallsort · 02/05/2014 11:45

I forgot to add, my lining shows that it is ready, which ties in with the big follicle. So on Monday I may have more eggs but my lining might have began to deteriorate.

WalterAndTheAstronauts · 02/05/2014 19:20

Hello Ladies!

Liquorice the large one after 5 days is surely a good response? It took me ages to stim!

I had EC last Saturday - 7 follicles but only two eggs, once was immature & the other didn't fertilise so it's game over for us!

Had our review meeting today & the big guy seemed positive and suggested a short protocol with ICSI even though DP has amazing results (177 million!) it will take out the fertilisation factor! So now we have to find the money if we continue this roller coaster!

Good to see that everyone's still about and being positive. I've been up and down but feel I've got closure today & ready to go again!

So Purple when is your next cycle likely to start?

Carrie how are you feeling now? Ready to get started again?

Hope everyone else is doing good xx

purplemeggie · 02/05/2014 19:27

Oh Liquorice! How frustrating is that? It never occurred to me that they wouldn't develop at the same speed. Keeping everything crossed that the others keep developing over the weekend.

If it's any consolation, I had three over 20mm and some smaller ones (my smallest was 16, I think, when they collected them), so they won't necessarily stop. Keep yourself really well hydrated and we'll all be willing them to grow!

Carrie - I got my dates wrong...didn't realise I'd have to do so many weeks of drugs for FET, so ET is likely to be half way through July now. Maybe you, Shellster and I will be back in synch again!

carriebella · 03/05/2014 09:14

Fingers crossed its just a weekend that they need liquorice. Its such a bumpy road of ups and downs. 24 follies is really positive though.

Really sorry to hear that walter, I never realised how hard it is just to even get to transfer before I started all this, glad you have a new approach to focus on, it is all that keeps us going isnt it. Im feeling ok, just starting to get af, hoping that next month I arrive late as I have a wedding to go to in cyprus at the end of june, could be just in the DR phase though, which maybe I could still do in cyprus?

Ah, purple, I didnt think you'd have as many drugs either, what do you need to do for FET? Will be nice if we do all eventually go together again, hopefully I will even manage a full cycle!

purplemeggie · 03/05/2014 10:08

So sorry, Walter that's pants. (your post hadn't appeared when I was posting last night). Well done for picking yourself up....I honestly think it's the only way to stay sane...allow yourself your cry and then make plan B. the tears may come back and bite you when you think you're fine. Hugs x

Don't see why you couldn't dr in Cyprus, Carrie

WalterAndTheAstronauts · 03/05/2014 15:37

I thought it old be a walk in the park, that soon changed! It makes us stringer for the next cycle and we know what to expect. It's a crazy old ride. The nurses made me cry yesterday, they were rooting for us and when it failed they were just so lovely.....

Purple I didn't realise you had to down reg again for FET?

Carrie are you cracking on with the next available cycle then? I'm not sure if we should leave it a couple of months, although my age is an issue, but we need a holiday, hopefully June, then July is quite busy... Just don't know what to do, or maybe we just get going ASAP!

Liquorice hope you're feeling ok today! chin up xxx

WalterAndTheAstronauts · 03/05/2014 15:37

Sorry for the typos!

purplemeggie · 03/05/2014 16:02

Walter - my clinic keeps telling me I'm young in IVF terms and they do own-egg IVF with women up to 45, so 39 is spring-chicken territory!

I know - I didn't expect to have to down reg, either. Shellster and I were talking about it, too. Doesn't seem to make much sense: they make you down reg to ensure there's nothing in your ovaries, then you take a drug to thicken the endometrium, then the progesterone to hold the pregnancy because there's no corpus luteum producing progesterone. I don't understand why they don't just wait for you to ovulate and then do the FET. Questions to ask when we go for our implications meeting, I guess.

Barcelona123 · 04/05/2014 01:58

HELP! Does anyone have some Menopur I can buy off them today/ tomorrow? I am in Canterbury I can drive anywhere in England with cash if we can agree a price. I am undergoing fertility treatment from a clinic in Spain. They sent me a prescription which Asda got for me but today the clinic has emailed asking me to increase the dose even though I have explained you can't just pop to the chemist & buy it off the shelf especially when it's a bank holiday week-end!! Pretty desperate as have spent a fortune & will miss my window if I do not increase dosage. Please contact me if you can help a woman take her last shot at getting pregnant xx

purplemeggie · 04/05/2014 08:42

Sorry, Barcelona, none left over, but wanted to say good luck. Could your clinic phone a clinic here and ask them to supply a prescription?

Liquoriceallsort · 04/05/2014 12:56

Sorry Barcelona they didn't give me any more than needed and I am still taking it.

Sorry to hear that Walter, I too thought it would be so straightforward, how wrong I was!

Purple very odd that you have to down reg, when are you back in to the clinic?

Gosh I feel horrible, like my back and stomach are too big for my body. Is this normal?!?

Liquoriceallsort · 04/05/2014 12:58

Barcelona if you haven't already, start your own thread also (I couldn't see one) you might get a better response that way

purplemeggie · 04/05/2014 22:05

Did you get anywhere, Barcelona? May be too late, but the other thought I had was that you could ask your clinic to fax a prescription to a local pharmacy.
