After 3 full failed IVF's last year, I am about to embark on my second last attempt. I started an IVF thread during my last IVF, and everyone got pregnant but me. So I swore I wouldn't do that again this time. But I find myself wanting to chat with people going through what I am, so I am starting the thread again. Join me as I seem to be a BFP magnet!

purple I can't think like that yet and all I wonder is how many times il need to go through it to have a baby. Maybe that's because I don't have any other children yet and I honestly can't imagine my life without being a mum!

Have a great day everyone! X

bluemoonday · 06/06/2014 09:08

Purple well said and I completely agree with Emma...your DS has a lovely family already, with or without a sibling. He doesn't know any better/different. For us, if this cycle doesn't work, we will try one more time, and if that doesn't work, we'll adopt (one or two!). Whilst we would love our own baby we're big fans of adoption and are planning to adopt whatever happens. My DH was fostered/adopted so it makes sense for us. Would you consider it?

Thanks for all the well wishes folks - T day for me tomorrow! I am on progesterone - I did some googling and it looks like a 35 day (!) cycle happens quite often.

purplemeggie · 06/06/2014 12:37

Thank you ladies, I'm feeling better about it all today!
Yes, Bluemoon, we have thought about adoption, too. In fact, I was far more positive about adoption than about IVF for a long time. We would definitely seek to adopt - probably a sibling group - if we didn't have our own child, but he would now be at least 7 before we could adopt and he has been used to being the centre of our world, so the potential upheaval for him has to be at the heart of our decision.

I'm conscious that this could sound trite - that is not how it is intended - but we took in a rescue dog a couple of years ago. He'd never been ill-treated, but he had been abandoned and he had an attitude a mile wide. It was really hard to gain his trust and integrate him into our family and for the best part of a year everybody's lives were disrupted - and that was just a dog. We're conscious that (unless we adopted overseas, which has its own issues, and even longer delays) that we would be taking in a child who had probably been removed from a really damaging home and who would be grieving, confused, potentially suffering from ill-health or addiction and that the risk of our son feeling sidelined was too great.

Fingers crossed for T day...no pressure, but we're really overdue a BFP on this thread! xxx

I think even if DS is making repeated requests for a sibling now Purple, that when he is older he will understand what you went through to produce him a sibling and how much you love him to be considering his needs first above your own when thinking about adoption. I just hope your little frostie is the sibling in waiting so you don't have to think about this any more.

I hope all is well with you blue. It's Saturday here is Australia but I think you guys are behind so I will just have to wait!

After my cycle was cancelled on Monday, I have had a week of junk food and one night of too much alcohol. It's so hard that I can never have a break from all this. I told myself I would relax and eat what I want but I just feed guilty that I am sabotaging my next IVF so today I am back to my high protein low carb diet.

Ladies...I've been awake since 4.30am...BFP!!!

I can't believe it. Absolutely over the moon and thrilled to bits. I know we've still got a long way to go but I'm just amazed this worked for us. No previous pregnancies, scar tissue, fibroids, 5 follicles, 2 eggs, no frosties, 1 embryo... I was convinced it wasn't to be.

I hope my good luck rubs off on everyone and this is just the start of BFPs all round.

Don't know what to do with myself now. I'll have to start fretting about making it to the scan next. For now, I'll wait for the world to wake up and have a celebratory cup of tea!

Hey blue. Massive congratulations! Have been hovering on this thread from time to time as I got my BFP through first ivf 5 months ago. Now 28 weeks. Glad it worked for you too. Good times to come. Good luck everyone else.!

purplemeggie · 07/06/2014 07:23

Woohoo Blue! Fantastic news, so pleased for you xxx

Happilymarried155 · 07/06/2014 08:06

blue that's amazing!!!!! Congratulations! I'm so pleased for you :)

Hopefully this is the start of a lucky strong of bfp!!! X

bluemoonday · 08/06/2014 08:01

Thank you all and Olive great to hear you've made it to 28 weeks. Wishing you all lots of luck and sending Bfp vibes all round.

Shellster52 · 08/06/2014 08:16

Woo hoo Blue I always feel disheartened when I see others make so many eggs during IVF and I only make a few. You are a timely reminder that it's quality over quantity. Yes Purple, hopefully this is the start of a lucky string of BFPs - you and me next please!

It's lovely to hear bfp stories, makes you realise it actually can happen!! :) hope everyone is ok x

minibmw2010 · 08/06/2014 22:37

Blue, that's so lovely, congratulations !!!!! X

purplemeggie · 09/06/2014 19:42

Starting down-reg tomorrow for our FET. Hold the rollercoaster...we're getting back on!

EmmaGH · 09/06/2014 22:09

Blue, that's AMAZING!!!!! I've been wondering how you got on all weekend, but I didn't have any Internet connection. What fantastic news! I'm so happy for you!

I had an appointment with my GP today to find out about what happens next, in terms of what private clinics they might recommend and how far King's test results will carry us so that we don't have to go through all that again. Also getting a referral to get a second opinion on the fibroids and whether they should be removed. Really should have done that last bit a year ago, but hindsight, etc. etc.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Blue, when's your first scan?

Shellster52 · 10/06/2014 00:39

Glad to hear your following up with the fibroids Emma. Yeah, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

purple, so does that mean you know the date of the embryo transfer now?

minibmw2010 · 10/06/2014 06:36

Hello all. I'm afraid there won't be a BFP from me, I have started what looks like a very clear period for me, even though my testing date isn't until Saturday. Devastated. ?? xx

purplemeggie · 10/06/2014 07:10

Mini Sad - sending a big hug. xxx

Happilymarried155 · 10/06/2014 07:44

mini I'm so sorry :( are you ok?

Well tested at 8dp5dt and a very clear BFP!!! I cannot believe it. Obviously really scared until scan but couldn't be happier! X

bluemoonday · 10/06/2014 08:29

Congratulations happily, that is fantastic news.

Mini I'm so sorry. Will you test anyway, just in case? I hope your DP is giving you lots of love and attention.

minibmw2010 · 10/06/2014 10:03

Happily I'm so pleased for you, that's brilliant. ??

I will test but I guess I won't have my hopes up.

Poor DH is at work, I work from home so can at least watch some TV and switch off if I can. It was our anniversary yday and he got me a beautiful diamond eternity ring so I keep looking at that to cheer me up. x

purplemeggie · 10/06/2014 15:39

Lovely news, Happily - hooray! x

Aw, Mini....still keeping fingers crossed - my cousin had normal periods for five months in each of her pregnancies, so it could still be okay. And lovely diamonds never go amiss x

bluemoonday · 11/06/2014 07:03

Emma I can't remember where you live but if your looking at private IVF clinics in London you could consider Guy's Hospital? That's where we are... Mr Khalaf treats a lot of women with fibroids. He could do your IVF privately and the fibroids on the NHS. Might be worth a look?

bluemoonday · 11/06/2014 07:04

'your = you're'.... spelling!

minibmw2010 · 11/06/2014 18:11

I think I can safely say I'm out although obv I will test Saturday. Period (for want of a better name?) has been at least 4 times stronger than usual and still going (started Monday evening). Am shattered with it, need some extra iron in my diet I think Hmm

Happilymarried155 · 11/06/2014 22:16

So sorry mini :(

What's your next step now, it's such an emotional roller coaster these fertility treatment buisness, I've never had so many highs and lows before.

How is everyone else getting on?
