BBC reporting a shot heard and ambulance movement.

I hope not.

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 10/07/2010 01:22

News on now. Nothing much seems to have happened from the gun shot.

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 10/07/2010 01:25

bbc saying may have shot himself

kittya · 10/07/2010 01:32

sounds like he may have shot himself.

wubblybubbly · 10/07/2010 01:55

I've just read some of the messages on the facebook page set up in his name.

Totally beyond belief. There are some very, very sick people out there.

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 10/07/2010 01:58

Wonder how many police in the ambulance with paramedic.

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 10/07/2010 02:28

Police now said hes shot himself

StealthPolarBear · 10/07/2010 08:08

I'm pleased it's over. Feel sorry for the police who were witnesses, for his children and for Samantha Stobbart as no doubt his last letter will have made sure that she will feel guilty for his death.

5inthebed · 10/07/2010 08:44

Very glad it is over, shame it had to end in his death. But at least it was at his own doing and not that of the police iykwim.

news saying there was a dictafone in the tent they found with 4 hours of ramblings from him, including him saying that the public are in danger.

differentID · 10/07/2010 09:30

Pleased it's over, and I hope that everyone involved can find a sense of peace now.

EightiesChick · 10/07/2010 10:41

Switched Sky news on immediately when I came down with DS at 6.20 Very glad it has come to an end with no one else being hurt. I can't help thinking that this may be the best thing in the long run for his young daughter. It's probably, sadly, also the only way Samantha Stobbart could ever feel safe again. Shame he had gone this far with it all.

AngeChica · 10/07/2010 11:07

It feels a bit trial and execution by media... am I alone in thinking this? I have of course been complicit in this by ghoulishly watching it all unfold...

I have no sympathy for Moat but would like to have seen him brought to justice alive.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 10/07/2010 11:07

I'm very glad it's over and the people of the town can get on with their lives. I was a bit cats bum about how sensational the photographs looked when I checked out a couple of newspapers online though.

Ponders · 10/07/2010 11:07

BBC page says they heard 2 shots before it was announced that he had "shot himself"

Ponders · 10/07/2010 11:09

0121 here

0137 BST: Eyewitness Peter Abiston, whose house overlooks the scene, says he believes the man shot himself.

0121 BST: BBC producer Claire Kendall reports hearing two shots coming from the riverside area. Paramedics are seen arriving.

streakybacon · 10/07/2010 12:13

Still not sure how safe Samantha Stobbart will feel even though he's dead. He had so many friends in low places willing to help him, even assist him in attempting to kill her, so who knows if they might feel they are honouring their friend by continuing with exacting his revenge?

These aren't rational people so who can say?

Very sad state of affairs all round. Feel very sorry for his kids and family.

ilovesprouts · 10/07/2010 12:38

well its all over now perhaps ss can get on with her life now hope the pc pulls through ,they was only 2 outcomes for this story !!

dweezle · 10/07/2010 13:35

Anyone else hear academic David Wilson on the Today programme this morning deducing that Moat had a paranoid narcissitic personality. I actually thought his assessment of Moat's personality was spot on. Hopefully this link works, but the commentary is about 2.30 minutes in: news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_8807000/8807149.stm

bathbuns · 10/07/2010 14:19

I do feel sorry for the police negotiators. They spent six hours trying to talk himself into giving himself up and then had to watch him kill himself. Whatever Moat did, I'm sure it will be difficult for them.

And god, what a wierd twist with Gazza turning up. Only in England, right? I read the Times this morning and there was no mention of him whatsoever.

Glitterknickaz · 10/07/2010 14:33

Shot himself after being tasered..... oh dear

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 10/07/2010 15:15

Just in from work, before I left was no tazer mention. Why did that happen? Sue whats her face said "it did not prevent his death" I dont understand, were they tazering him to try and not let him kill himself?

SwansEatQuince · 10/07/2010 15:17

I don't understand, how could you pull the trigger of a gun after being tazered?

Glitterknickaz · 10/07/2010 15:40

I think they did it to incapacitate him. There are those who would blame the officer who fired the taser for making him twitch, if his finger was on the trigger it could have made him pull it.

Not me though. If someone has a gun to his head for that many hours something is going to happen.
