Sunday Times Article praising older women without kids .. some kind of we can still party piece

made me feel incredibly sad for the journalist TBH ..

(MI obviously excluded!!)

There was some dullard whingeing in the Sunday telegraph about people with kids and how she preferred her Italian greyhounds.
Yaaaaaaaaawn.....

They don't get it do they?? I don't go a whole heap on mumsy talk but without children there quite literally is no future.

Twiglett - I was just about to make a sarky remark about the drudgery thing! Ridiculous, she manages to be sad and insulting. I do actually manage to have a life without my dd too any bloody way.

The way she names herself as one of these fantastic APGs is just a little up her own arse for me.

I'm all for supporting women who don't want to have kids - like some of my best mates - but it was pretty vacuous, really. I can imagine, very well, being in her position and feeling that whether or not I would have preferred to have children my life was pretty damn good as it was, though. And I bet Deeson's article was annoying.

I do think it's an important point, though; some fabulous women of a Certain Age are perfectly happy not having children. They've chosen not to, and they are having very nice lives. Some of my friends are very definitely in that group. Others would, I think, have liked to have had children if their lives had turned out otherwise, but are certainly having rather fabulous lives without them. I hope very much that had I not somewhat accidentally ended up in the partner-with-kids contingent I would have been one of those latter women.

I think you make the point very well mi. Unfortunately the article doesn't. The lives of the women she describes don't sound fabulous. They seem to consist of getting drunk, swearing a lot and getting their bits out.

so your childless friends MI .. do you think they would revel in being called aging party girls .. which seems to be the height of what this journalist aspires to

my friends who don't have children seem slightly sad to me (although they are all amazingly accomplished and fabulous women) .. they seem a little lost sometimes
