Just announced on BBC news.

hunkermunker · 06/08/2005 19:03

Oh no! Heard he'd collapsed, but they weren't saying it was definitely him

Sad
swiperfox · 06/08/2005 19:20

59!

Chickyboo · 06/08/2005 19:22

How sad

PeachyClair · 06/08/2005 19:25

That's sad, a good man who stood by his own personal beliefs.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 06/08/2005 19:29

sky news says heart attack.....

Janh · 06/08/2005 19:30

Oh, it was on the news earlier that he'd collapsed up a mountain and they spent 40 mins resuscitating - it didn't sound good then - I will miss him (esp on Dead Ringers)

spacecadet · 06/08/2005 19:31

good grief how awful.

Eugenius · 06/08/2005 19:32

oh my! that's a shock

TinyGang · 06/08/2005 19:33

Blimey.. Isn't Mo Mowlam also very ill in hospital?

MrsGordonRamsay · 06/08/2005 19:35

Peachy Clair

You took the words right out of my mouth.

He wouldn't have been my cup of tea, but I truly admired his stance on Iraq.

sad - but if you have to go - then what a way to go - having just climbed a mountain in the highlands - a place that he obviously loved.

expatinscotland · 06/08/2005 20:20

Damn, he was young, too

lilibet · 06/08/2005 20:22

Very sad - always is when we loose some one with integrity.

QueenOfQuotes · 06/08/2005 20:25

How awful, like others have said, a man with great intregity who stood by what he believed in.

franke · 06/08/2005 20:31

Not only did he stand by what he believed in, but it looks like he was right too. I remember him saying "Iraq doesn't have WMD" as if the very idea was laughable, just before we marched into Iraq.

paolosgirl · 06/08/2005 20:32

Very sad....I admired him for so many things. His refusal to be browbeaten by TB showed him to be a man of integrity. A good man

MrsGordonRamsay · 06/08/2005 21:06

Keeping this bumped.

bubble99 · 06/08/2005 21:09

Robin Cook has died. Mo Mowlam is seriously ill. Two fine politicians who stuck by their principles and didn't kowtow to the Blair machine. Robin Cook exposed what most of us knew about the shameful lies which led this country into war. He will be missed by many, but not by Blair, I suspect.

potty1 · 06/08/2005 21:38

Very sad. A man of principle and the government doesn't have many of them.

gingerbear · 06/08/2005 22:51

I will miss him. 59 was too soon. We need more politicians like Robin Cook helping to run this country.
