Muffin Tops

I've just read this article on the BBC News website. I was aware that being overweight, (especially if you carry it around your middle) is very bad for your health but this has really brought it home to me.

I think I need to change my lifestyle, get rid of the muffin top and then I'll change my Mumsnet name.

Does anyone else want to join me?

Bar I think I see where your carb issues might be. What veg were you eating, because to my surprise I found that a lot of veg (even spinach ) has high carbs for a low carb diet. Even lettuce has carbs fgs! Pumpkin, Sesame and especially sunflower seeds have significant carbs. Tomatoes are high carb.

I didn't realise that practically anything i'd want to eat has carbs! I'm trying to keep my carbs below 20gms a day per Atkins, that will keep me in ketosis for the weight loss to be most effective. But then, I've stopped breast feeding. Not sure how you'd manage while feeding and how it affects supply/quality.

I have definitely shrunk and good news is I'm not ravenous anymore so think i'm well and truly in the zone

Riven I've found lots of stevia vendors online. I might try a little bit and see what it's like.

Well measured the podge last night and it is a shocking 40" / 105cms, eekk.

Will get a no carb/keto book and read up, have also found it has shown improvement in PCOS and type 2 Diabetes, the first i have and the second is probable in a few years time.

I've been low-carbing for a couple of weeks and have noticed a definite improvement in my waist-line, also no farting and no after lunch sleepiness, skin a bit better too.

I'm not really overwieght as such, just a bit lumpier than I used to be, but I have problems with mild IBS and bloating and also PMT (I read that cutting down on carbs and eating more veg helps with PMT).

I'll have to be careful though, I am now a bit scared to eat bread, I can get a bit obsessive like Riven and my Mum had anorexia when she was my age!

I have been allowing myself a few oatcakes, no-carbs is too hard for Scottish people!

So what are you eating Wiggly & Riven?

riven 1 pound???!! Go check your scales woman. Surely not possible? I too am enjoying the Atkins energy and no hunger, surprised thhat i'm begining not to think about the carby foods I adore. Bought some coke zero to satisfy any rogue cravings

I've done 4 days or so with strictly v. low carbs (under 20g). I don't weigh myself but will judge it when I can fit into my larger pre maternity jeans.
