Muffin Tops

I've just read this article on the BBC News website. I was aware that being overweight, (especially if you carry it around your middle) is very bad for your health but this has really brought it home to me.

I think I need to change my lifestyle, get rid of the muffin top and then I'll change my Mumsnet name.

Does anyone else want to join me?

KM if you eat eggs you would be OK. I'm not a veggie but today I have had:
Poached egg
Cheese omelette with salad
Cauliflower curry (lots of it, no rice)

I make quite a lot of veggie gratins too - pour cream over veg, scatter cheese on top and bake in the oven.

I reckon it would be doable. You only do zero carbs for about 2 weeks and then gradually add them back in again (until you reach the stage where you start gaining weight)

eeek! my measurements are chest (including bust) 44 ,waist 41 and hips 45 ,does that mean i am basically a tube ?

deepdarkwood · 22/04/2010 10:47

Right, well I've had a week on the patented ddw diet , & have lost 1 1/2 lbs, so feeling pleased with that - that's the sort of pace I want. Am impressed with you lot & your low/no carbs, but feel slightly ill at the idea of no pasta...

And another one who wants to say well done to all the fag/booze cutters - I'm not sure how the actual physiology works, but psychologically, there are very good reasons why people replace fags with food, and as such why weight often goes up when people first quit fags. But equally, once people have quit 'properly', there is a real opportunity to build on the feeling of increased health/wellbeing by moving onto weight loss. So it's all good
