was he kid - I didn't hear that on the news about the whitehall bloke.

Kelly1978 · 22/07/2005 11:10

I actually feel a bit sorry for the bombers, tehy are such sad misguided individuals. They are usually young and vunerable and have been corrupted by those that are truely evil. It's those that go round preachign it and corrupting young muslims that make me sick - they won't do it themsleves but prey on youngsters, sending them to their deaths.

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:10

Mrs - I presume you mean MI5 - not MFI

compo · 22/07/2005 11:11

I doubt we'd ever be told if it was a case of mistaken identity

marthamoo · 22/07/2005 11:11

That wasn't very subtle of me, was it Twigs ? I know what you mean but if he is a terrorist (and I pray he is, and it's not a mistake) then it would have been better surely to take him alive? I guess if they shot him though they felt they had no alternative.

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:11

Very true Kelly. Unfortunately it's not sentiment that's gonna stop them killing us

flamesparrow · 22/07/2005 11:12

Armed police now surrounding a mosque in east london???

peckarollover · 22/07/2005 11:12

If he wasnt associated with the terrorists why run away from the police and onto a train?

dyzzidi · 22/07/2005 11:14

Twiglett i felt like that too. I don't think the benefits of interrogating him outweigh the possible threat to innocent lives I believe they have done the right thing.

I am prepared to eat my words if it was a case of mistaken identity. At present i am more inclined to take the police action as being correct until proved otherwise they have done a fantastic job these past few weeks and will have much more intelligence reports that they cannot release to be working on than we will ever truly know.

Springchicken · 22/07/2005 11:15

Better hope it was a Suicide Bomber or all hell will break loose

How scary!

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:15

Does anyone feel that these bombers are 'all fired up' now and baying for blood?
Are they going to keep going til they cause more damage?

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:15

I am now trying to think how Spooks would have dealt with this!

Can just see them faking eye witnesses and taking him alive.

I think the mistaken identity thing is a real danger. Met a guy on the tube yesterday. Very middle class, almost middle aged, well dressed Asian man. He was saying that he's been getting hostile comments and frightened looks constantly when on the tube. He's even taken to leaving his largish briefcase at home. Felt terrible for him. I myself have definitely been jumpy around large bags lately though.

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:15

sorry mouse keeps sticking

honeyflower · 22/07/2005 11:16

Maybe because you've heard that the police have very very occasionally been known to be a teeny weeny bit, erm, racist, dillydally? And you're thinking that in the context of rampant islamophobia, they might not be remembering their antiracism training too well this morning?

Does anyone know where the nmosque is? I'm in east london and am about to go and pick DH up (again)

MandM · 22/07/2005 11:16

Anymore about the mosque?

Nothing on Skynews website yet.

fee77 · 22/07/2005 11:17

Apparently armed plice have surrounded a mosque in east london

Jimjams · 22/07/2005 11:17

I hope to god it wasn't an innocent person. Anyone remember the IRA bus bomb- some poor innocent Irish bloke happpened to be on the bus at the time. Was seriously injured-family weren't alllowed to viisiit and he woke up in hospital surrounded by armed guards. Took them quite a while to realise he was totally unconnected.

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:17

I remember a couple of years ago David Blunkett saying that people how no idea how serious the situation really is. It's always stuck in my mind and this stuff is proving it
