Have just heard an unconfirmed report on the radio. Anyone else?

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 22/07/2005 11:01

msut have had a bomb, accordign to a witness an asian bloke was on the floor and shot at close range with a pistol. surely he wouldnt have been shot ont he floor unless he posed serious risk.

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:01

Even if it was a sucicde bomber doesn't help much if he's dead - you can't interrogate a dead man [frown]

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:01

eye witness on bbc

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:02

from the bbc

"Mr Whitby, told BBC News: "I saw an Asian guy run onto the train hotly pursued by three plain-clothes police officers.

"One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him."

Passenger Briony Coetsee said: "We were on the Tube and then we suddenly heard someone say, 'Get out, get out' and then we heard gunshots." "

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:03

was about to say the same Kelly 1978, apart from ethically not wanting to kill someone unless he was an immediate danger he could have been an invaulable source of information.

Toothache · 22/07/2005 11:03

OMG They shot him as he lay on the floor?!?!?!

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:04

that is what eye witness said you was 5 yards away

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:04

isn't it a bit dangerous to shoot someone wearing explosive? Surely that could trigger an explosion (I'm not expert on bombs so could be wrong)

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:04

They may not have killed him......
They may say that in order to protect him. If he's is custody and he gives out information they will need to protect him.
I heard them saying this on Radio 4 last night

TwinSetAndPearls · 22/07/2005 11:05

another eye witness bbc

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:05

that's a good point MrsDooLittle

emmatmg · 22/07/2005 11:05

doubt it would set anything off if he's shot in the head QoQ.

dyzzidi · 22/07/2005 11:05

They may have feared that he could have set the bomb off whilst lay on the floor??

I don't know what the trigger is for these bombs but if they had him lay on the floor he will still have been an immediate threat to the officers and people around them.

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:05

"One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him."
I have trouble believing this.

Kelly1978 · 22/07/2005 11:06

eye witness said he was shot 5 times and is dead.

Twiglett · 22/07/2005 11:06

I am embarrassed that my immediate response to this is 'good' ..

QueenOfQuotes · 22/07/2005 11:06

according to sky police have been ordered to "shoot to kill" is someone is suspected of being about to detonate a bomb......not sure how that helps investigations though.

marthamoo · 22/07/2005 11:06

Me too. But at this stage I guess it's all speculative. It's all bl**dy terrifying though.

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:07

Could have been a 'planted' eye witness!
More likely, I reckon

make it clear you don't agree with me then moo,

kid · 22/07/2005 11:09

I saw that poor man at downing street yesterday being marched away by the police and he was innocent. It must have been terrifying for him.

I just hope they were right about the person they shot today, I really hope it wasn't an innocent person.

MrsDoolittle · 22/07/2005 11:09

Exactly, it doesn't help QoQ. Don't forget MFI are also involved in this.
How much of the truth are they gonna tell us, if any?
Obviously this could be necessary, but the fact remains
