Totenham Court Road has just been evacuated. I know there are going to be lots of scares following the London bombings but DH has asked me to check if anything has happened. He seems to think something has.

OP posts:

yep, we're all ok. It's weirdly calm, actually.

edam · 21/07/2005 14:07

BBC saying it was dummy explosions using detonators only, not explosive.

jpedwards76 · 21/07/2005 14:07

Hi Blu
Dont worry

jpedwards76 · 21/07/2005 14:07

Thinking of everyone up there

Easy · 21/07/2005 14:08

Yes I wonder why people stand about gawping. In that situation I would try to get myself away from the area, preferably in a homeward direction (unless I could offer some practical help of course, but the Emergency services generally want the non-professionals out of the way)

Blu · 21/07/2005 14:08

It's odd. There are no bystanders, and the police are asking everyone to remain silent....There are hundreds of police, ambulances lined up, fire engines etc etc. HUNDREDS. But it is totally silent. No-one makes any noise. So they can hear anyhting that happens, I suppose, and their walki-talkies.

Blu · 21/07/2005 14:09

The obviously good thing is that the ambulance crews are standing by at the ready, but cleartly not 'in action'.

aloha · 21/07/2005 14:10

Yes, I'd heard about the Oval Blu. All OK?

Easy · 21/07/2005 14:10

Blu, are you on a hand-=held then?

Blu · 21/07/2005 14:10

Helicopters arriving....

jpedwards76 · 21/07/2005 14:10

Westminster tube now re-opened
Columbia road - hackney - no.26 bus all passengers off bus - cordened area has been extended - suspect package still on board - but unsure if its gone off yet.

HappyDaddy · 21/07/2005 14:11

My SIL was on a bus in Hackney Road, around the time of the incident. She seems to have missed it, just.

QueenOfQuotes · 21/07/2005 14:12

It wouldn't suprise me if Easy is right with this

"More like someone looking to stir up more racial hatred."

spacedonkey · 21/07/2005 14:13

I wonder if it's a copycat attack. Nail bomb doesn't sound like Al Qaeda

RTKangaMummy · 21/07/2005 14:13

one person is injured

They are saying "nail bombs"

MINNIE1 · 21/07/2005 14:13

Hope your all ok..

jpedwards76 · 21/07/2005 14:14

Only 1 injury reported on warren st tube.
The London Underground staff confirmed the dummy nail bombs - loud bang but no explosives - code Amber - will cause a degree of problems on the tube.

Eugenious · 21/07/2005 14:14

sd - my thoughts exactly - I nearly posted the same thing. They're obviously not suicide bombers either.

mummy23 · 21/07/2005 14:14

Everyone is being told to get of there mobiles

mummy23 · 21/07/2005 14:15

I need a fag, starting to worry coz i cant get in touch with my dad!!! And he does a lot of work in hackney!

GhostofNatt · 21/07/2005 14:16

Hope your family ok, mummy23, doesn't sound like any bus casualties

compo · 21/07/2005 14:17

it just seems to be designed to cause maximum chaos to the transport system rather than injure people doesn't it? Totally pointless but if you're in London and unable to get home bloody annoying

spacedonkey · 21/07/2005 14:17

Armed police have entered UCL hospital according to Sky

MrsGordonRamsay · 21/07/2005 14:19

DH evacutaed from Waterloo, gave him strict instructions not to get on a bus.

Now, being a man he has gone into his meeting and switched his phone off GRrrrrrrrrrrr

I need an eye rolling emotion !!

kissalot · 21/07/2005 14:19

Bus windows were apparently blown out??????????
