Sorry - unable to copy/paste links atm.

But basically the house was broken into, the family were beaten and went through a six hour ordeal before the kidnappers left with the child who was on holiday with his father.

They are demanding a £100000 randsome.

..which the father can't pay. It's awful seeing the distress on the mum's face. Hope this has a happy outcome.

BAFE · 04/03/2010 18:37

I feel desparately desparately sorry for the poor family but I just can't stop thinking that if that little boy had been in school where he belonged this wouldn't have happened

Hulababy · 04/03/2010 18:41

BAFE I don't think the family can take any blame for this, just because they have had time out of school!

The family looked so distressed. I can't imagine their pain. I hope they get the little boy back safe.

giraffesCantCeilidhDance · 04/03/2010 18:52

Thats a tremendously helpful comment BAFE

Poor little man I can't imagine what the family are going through.

Our government needs to locate him and get him out safely using maximum force against the kidnappers as a deterent to others who would take a child.

Disenchanted3 · 04/03/2010 20:03

I've just watched the interview with his mum and am sobbing, shes incredibly brave

I don't think I would have stopped screaming yet if it were me

2shoes · 04/03/2010 22:07

poor little lad, I hope he is home safe and sound real soon

MillyR · 04/03/2010 22:23

I haven't cried at the news in a long time, but the clip of his mother made me cry. I'm not sure they should have shown a clip of her being so distressed.

chegirlshadabloodynuff · 04/03/2010 22:38

Apparently there are already rumour that this is a scam

I wonder why

Its not exactly rare for children to be kidnapped in countries with a very wide rich - poor divide.

Poor little lad and how bloody terrible for the family.

I hope it ends well.

SixtyFootDoll · 04/03/2010 22:42

Is so awful
BAFE - pointless comment.
I hope he is returned soon ,safe and well.

Ewe · 04/03/2010 23:05

BAFE he was visiting his sick Grandmother, it wasn't a jolly. I would take ny child out of school on that basis, I am sure most people would.

Hope he is found safe and quickly, poor little lad.

choosyfloosy · 04/03/2010 23:13

Only heard about this a little while ago.

It's unbearable thinking of that little one on his own.

How can so many people in the world be so cruel.

wannaBe · 05/03/2010 09:22

bafe but we can apply that "if only" logic to so many parts of our lives, and it achieves nothing.

"if only" I hadn't eaten that bar of chocolate I wouldn't be fat.

"if only" I had picked those numbers I would have been the one to win 54 million quid and my troubles would be over.

Police have apparently made arrests and are confident he will be returned soon. But not surprised that someone has already reported it's a scam, someone inevitably does when these things happen.

Lets hope the little lad gets to safety quickly, the pain of the parents must be unimaginable.

To the OP, in your title you say you're surprised there's no thread about the lad, are you insinuating something there? Why haven't you expanded on that surprise in your OP?

I'm just guessing, but are you asking whether there are no threads about him because his family is from Pakistan, and if he was a white middle class boy there would be more publicity? And haven't you just started a thread about him?

I'd be very disappointed if my guess is right.

Disenchanted3 · 05/03/2010 11:03

general, i think you are looking to far into that comment

Perhaps she meant because this is a parenting forum and its every parents worst nightmare to have their child snatched? So she assumed there would already be a thread disscussing it.

There was no trace of anything you suggested IMO.

I was surprised there was no thread because it was headline news.

And because, given this is a parenting forum, these stories are almost always posted about as soon as they break.

So when I looked in the news section to see if there was a thread I was surprised to see there wasn't one.

Nothing at all to do with where he's from etc.

OP posts:
wannaBe · 05/03/2010 11:07

yes, what disenchanted said.

OP posts:
generalunrest · 05/03/2010 11:09

I don't think I'm looking too far at all, I remember the hoo haa that accompanied the McCann case where people went on and on about how such a fuss wouldn't be made if the little girl wasn't from a middle class white background. Some people genuinely think like that.

I apologise if my guess was wrong

Disenchanted3 · 05/03/2010 11:27

Well as far as I can see you are the only person on the thread to suggest it.

generalunrest · 05/03/2010 11:34

I'm not sure just because I'm the only one to question it means it's not a valid question, or are we only to say what everyone else says? No point in a discussion forum then.

BAFE · 05/03/2010 17:29

It's now been reported that a member of the boys family has been arrested in connectionwith the kidnapping.

I thought it was odd to take a boy out of school and half way across the world to visit a sick grandmother.

My kids grandmother has been sick on more than one occasion and I haven't taken my kids out of school to see her. I've waited till the holidays and then gone to see her.

thisisnotwhoyouthink · 05/03/2010 17:34

BAFE - maybe the grandmother might not have ad long to go? Maybe she wouldnt have lasted until the next holidays???

Those poor parents. I hope he is safe and well.

thisisnotwhoyouthink · 05/03/2010 17:36

And jut because it is a family member doesnt mean the parents were "in on it". They may just have a fruit loop in the family or a family member with a grudge against them. It happens!!
