There's not as big a difference between the MN and Netmums demographic in that example as it suggests:

MN - 50% below £50k pa
NM - 40% £20- £40k pa - v similar, but incomplete information on the other 60%

MN - 2/3 in employment
NM - 60% in employment - same, no?

No mention of NM education stats, so can't compare, and only real diff is geographical spread.

JustineMumsnet · 24/02/2010 00:16

Just been "head to head" with Janet on Alan Titchmarsh show (pre-recorded to be shown ITV Friday). She seemed lovely but really didn't get MN at all.

She would need to get stuck in, in order to understand it. If she got stuck into a thread about, I dunno, ramblers' rights, then she would get it. Has she got a dog? There's some great doggy advice on here.

JustineMumsnet · 27/02/2010 02:26

Here's my head to head with JSP - did my best to make the point about mothers not being soft option. Alan Titchmarsh show - it's about 20 mins in.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 27/02/2010 02:48

I saw you on that Justine, you looked fab!

JSP's alright unless she's pissed off. There are far better things to get pissed off about then mumsnet though.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 27/02/2010 02:49

That wasn't a Boden dress was it Justine?

Tortington · 27/02/2010 02:57

I think you presented yourself very well and spoke in great terms about the Mn population.

I think you know i would tell you truthfully if i could see JSP's POV, but i truly can't. I think her argument is that she doesn't want politicions to interact with mums on the net becuase they can then use that as spin to appear 'fluffy'. Yet surely this is what they do every day when kissing babies and visiting sick people, poor people etc.

On MN there is a debate, there is scrutiny by very highly edumicated people and whats more, i would wager that it is more scrutiny than they usually get from the public. Becuase kissing babies and shaking the hands of the sick and unemployed doesn't cut it. Apart from fellow MPs and media types, i wonder whether they do get a sense of the real concerns of real people.

anyway. well done

IREALLYDONTCARE · 28/02/2010 16:05

I totally agree. I've found that unless you are a breastfeeding, co sleeping, boden wearing SAHM you aren't welcome.

The idea that all 'Mums' do is talk about teething and breastfeeding makes me fucking livid.

JSP seems to have made a living out of shouting loudly and frequently in the hope that we won't realise she actually has nothing of any interest to say.

Shrew.

'I totally agree. I've found that unless you are a breastfeeding, co sleeping, boden wearing SAHM you aren't welcome.'

Really? I tick only one of those boxes (though I will be losing my Boden virginity on Tuesday , and I have NEVER felt unwelcome on here. I think you see what you want to see. Besides, Breastfeeding/co-sleeping and all that malarky are minute parts of this site which most posters go beyond the bounds of.

dolphin13 · 28/02/2010 19:17

If I were invited to a party where the dress code was Boden I'd run a mile to
