Father takes 11yr old son to Hooters

which in case you don't know is a restaurant named after a cheery slang word for women's breasts, to see if he was ready for the 'birds and the bees' talk..

He's not a complete bonehead, this guy - he writes a parenting blog, fgs - but this news makes me want to sob.

so I just tweeted that, mentioning Hooters, and seconds later I was spammed by porn. DS in room behind me. I really do want to weep.

It shows you that whatever the 'just a bit of good fun' people say about this kind of thing, the porn people think of it as their sister industry.

The experience the restaurant is selling - their USP - is to be served your meal by accommodating young women with large breast who won't get all uppity and, you know, feminist on you if you tell them that you like their tits.

My DP went to Hooters with his dad when he was a similar age, it was daytime Hooters though so there was no erm Hooters on direct display. He doesn't seem to be scarred by it but i think the whole place is a little icky tbh.

I've eaten in a Hooters restaurant.

TBH i didn't quite get what the fuss was about. The girls were normal waitresses as far I could see. Fully clothed.

Maybe the principles behind it all are out of order, but i can't imagine an 11 year old boy would even pick up on that anymore than he would if his pizza express waitress was pretty.

although i don't see how a trip to hooters has anything to do with a birds and the bees talk. what a bizarre approach.

My ex bf was from Texas and it's usual for families to go to Hooters. Can't say my boys would want to go, ds1 would be like his dad and watch the sport on the big tvs when we went in, ds2 would probably keep sneaking a peak at the girls?
I've been in one when in the States with exdh but only to get out of torrential rain in Jacksonville. I didn't hear anyone being suggestive to the girls but I'm sure they do get it?

Can't say I'm that happy they're over here.

It did make me think about when we go to beaches and sunbathe topless with our dcs around. They don't do that in the US and I wonder if that's why there's such a fascination with such a place? I was in a bar in TX with ex bf and the girls/women there wanted me to join them on the balcony to show my tits I went off it and they couldn't understand why? It was quite a rough bar though.
