See, that's what pisses me off about this case. I really resent the attempts made here and everywhere else in the media to manipulate me into feeling empathetic towards these extremely unlikeable people.

'Terrible pain etched on that poor woman's face ...' Maybe. But we're all human, we're all feel pain and we're all fallible. It doesn't mean that we're not all capable of doing bad things.

The biggest problem in this case is that because of the political interference and media pandering (as above), no one has been allowed to stand back and examine the evidence dispassionately and objectively. We're not even allowed to discuss it here. And it's a very dangerous precedent to set.

izyboy · 27/05/2009 22:41

who is 'one man' Nholder?

noddyholder · 27/05/2009 22:47

Stop being pedantic izyboy it is not becoming. You have your opinion I happen to disagree.End of.Am not interested in answering you or arguing with you either. You seem to think its ok to presume that look on her face is etched pain I see it another way

izyboy · 27/05/2009 22:47

QC if you want to use bottox on your arse feel free, it might iron out any wrinkles.

bobbysmum07. We are all human, true, something that people seem to have forgotten on this thread when they 'gossip' so feely about the Mccanns. Do you know these 'unlikeable people' personally to come to such a conclusion?

Who's 'not allowing discussion?' I have been called names for pointing out the possibility of libel, you dont see me flouncing.

izyboy · 27/05/2009 22:49

You have no idea about my opinion really Noddy, you can only make assumptions. I will still post, if I wish, whether or not you choose to respond is of course up to you.

noddyholder · 27/05/2009 22:52
Grin
bobbysmum07 · 27/05/2009 23:01

This whole thing is disturbing on every level. It's not 'gossip' to voice concern about that.

Who are you anyway? No one I know in real life thinks like you.

izyboy · 27/05/2009 23:06

Why who are you bobbysmum07? As I have said to Noddy, apart from raising a few concerns about libel and 'gossip' plus exchanging a bit of banter over the meaning of the word 'presume', you dont really know much more about my opinions.

izyboy · 27/05/2009 23:08

There may be plenty of people who think like me, they just wont tell you, bobbysmum07.

izyboy · 27/05/2009 23:11

I think Noddy referred to the 'gossip' aspect of this thread.

noddyholder · 27/05/2009 23:15

even more

ToughDaddy · 28/05/2009 06:18

Okay, well here is the question; are you all happy for the family's lawyers to see everything that you have written on this thread??? This isn't so difficult to test.

NationalFlight · 28/05/2009 07:10

Yes TD I'm happy about that. I try to be very careful what I say.

Noddy, I think Izy has become so completely obtuse on this thread that it is fairly safe just to ignore her/him completely. You can't argue with someone who is so utterly inconsistent without getting a headache.

Izyboy, to save your confusion may I direct you towards this and perhaps this

And more recently this

I think that says enough, really.

noddyholder · 28/05/2009 08:39

The McCanns lawyers? They would be extremely busy if they got hot under the collar about every discussion of this case.If you want a thread to support them start one I wouldn't post on it or contradict your beliefs. The innocent til guilty line is churned out because there is no other defence.Innocent of what though? As far as I see on this thread there are only facts posted and how we interprate those is a basis for discussion.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 28/05/2009 08:59

Indeed Noddy. This section of the forum is for disussion and comments on items in the news. It is easy to avoid if you don't want to participate. Amazes me how people have time to waste attempting to derail threads they don't approve of...

scarletlilybug · 28/05/2009 08:59

"The innocent til guilty line is churned out because there is no other defence"

What other defence do they need? No one has to prove their innocence; it's up to the prosecution to prove guilt. This was not done; furthermore there wasn't even enough evidence aginst the McCanns to even take them to court. The portuguese AG himself said that there was no evidence that they were guilty of any crime. Yet this one fact seems to pass so many so-called "truth seekers" by.

Many of the alleged "facts" about this case mentioned on this thread (and elsewhere) have no basis in reality. Rather, they are based on internet myths and rumours, hearsay and deliberate distortion of events.

It disturbs me to see how many people are prepared to treat this case as some kind of ongoing soap opera where people discuss the "cast" and the "plot" and the "facts", and forget that it is about real people and a real child who remains, to this day, missing.

noddyholder · 28/05/2009 09:06

I have seen nothing posted here that is not in the signed and dated statements of them and their friends.I think the biggest crime is that it didn't get to court How did that happen?

NationalFlight · 28/05/2009 09:16

I take some of your points Scarlet. I would however put forward the view that as long as one keeps to the information already put in the public domain, and remembers to acknowledge that things written here are merely our own musings, nobody is being attacked and nothing is being suggested as proven. I'd like to reserve the right to discuss my personal thoughts, but not to discredit anybody involved nor suggest that they have anything to prove.

noddyholder · 28/05/2009 09:26

Lets just discuss the facts then.gerry said by his estimation that the abductor had only 3 minutes to carry out his 'high risk strategy'from start to finish while gerry himself stood outside the appartment chatting to his friend. How could this be possible?

Rhubarb · 28/05/2009 09:36

Oh, McCann bashing. I didn't realise.

Sick.

There is absolutely no evidence to link them to the disappearance of their daughter. And a very high profile forensic psychologist who is an expert on spotting fakers and liars, said that he has every sympathy for the McCanns and would not even discuss the possibility of them being involved.

Yes, it is unthinkable that someone broke into their apartment and took their sleeping child whilst leaving the twins undisturbed. Unthinkable but not impossible. What is more unthinkable is that the McCanns somehow manufactured these lies, got their friends involved and are now at the helm of this huge operation to bring her back, whilst knowing full well that she is dead because they killed her. That they haven't cracked yet, or their friends haven't cracked. That they haven't just given up for fear of being found out. These things are impossible.

If anyone wants to tear apart the McCann family any more than they already have been, then you my friend, need to get a bloody job because you have far too much time on your hands. How your skills of deduction and psychology have been missed is a mystery.

This thread is a disgrace.

noddyholder · 28/05/2009 09:39

Rhubarb who is this forensic psychologist I would be interested .Who are you telling to get a job?

NationalFlight · 28/05/2009 09:44

I'm interested too, and fwiw I've no wish to 'bash' anyone. I've no wish to discuss the statements or such either - reading about the case from independant, professional and involved sources though does interest me, and it probably shouldn't.

izyboy · 28/05/2009 09:45

National Flight, just because I do not involve myself in 'gossip'about people who should be considered innocent until proven guilty - then I am 'obtuse'!!lol!

See it is you and your fellow 'gossiping housewives' that are tying yourselves in knots, flouncing and getting 'headaches' of your own making.

I will continue to point out that people who have not been convicted should be 'presumed innocent' as much as I wish. Ignore if you cant face the truth and prefer to 'waste your time' with 'idle gossip' .

People have admitted that what they are saying is meaningless 'idle', but that reminding them about possible libel/ questioning the morality of the gossip is 'obtuse'(make your own minds up as to whether this is amusing given the context of these 'musings').

See, Mrs GG cant seem to grasp the fact that at no point have I called anyone 'names' or requested you to stop, Yet I am trying to 'derail' you. How so MrsGG with the truth? People should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, not that hard to stomach is it?

dongles · 28/05/2009 09:45

Excellent post Rhubarb.

Rhubarb · 28/05/2009 09:47

I am telling anyone who is spending their time probing this case like bloody amateur detectives, to get a job because they are obviously very very bored.

The forensic psychologist was David Canter, Professor of Psychology at The University of Liverpool. He took part in this documentary.
