Apparently the council were 'bombarded' with demands from the public for a lasting tribute.

I don't think it's appropriate, it could well be downright tacky.

Hey, MayorQuimby, I'd like to see Dara O'Briain replace the plank - if he could be lured back to 'ore' tee ee.

yeah he'd be perfect at it, but i'm pretty sure rte want to keep the long held tradition of simpering arse licking of all guests regardless of achievments once they agree to appear on the late late, so doubt they'd pick him. i'd like to see george hook get it as he's very photogenic.
alas we all know it'll be tubbers who gets the call up.

What if Marc Quinn made one out of his own blood, frozen, and then put it in the Tate, and it melted?
What I mean is, there is a lot to say about Jade, isn't there. So maybe not a commemorative statue, which is purely laudatory. But I predict lots of JADE ART coming up in the next few months.

I agree with soupdreggon, the council have just said they will come up with something, I don't think we're really talking about a bronze statue on a plinth in Trafalgar Square.
