"There's no 'responsibility' not to be rude on a public debating forum where newsworthy or general topics are under discussion. One person's 'rude' is another's 'fair comment' for one thing. People with a shoud stick to setting up Like Minded People Only closed groups on Facebook."

I agree with you totally here SG. I defend peoples right to offend all the time. Myt questuon here is why. This is not a question of fact - round Earth rather than opinion - "flat-earth-no-one-is-allowed-to-disagree-with-me mentality". If it was the opposite, i'd be defending you, no bother!

Gunnerbean · 02/03/2009 20:40

Violethill - why not address the point I made in my post? No, you won't will you? People like you never do.

Go away and carry on contributing to those charities you support. No one here wants to have a "debate" with you.

I'm not sure what planet you inhabit but personally I don't feel that a young mother dying, leaving small children and feeling absolutely bereft and terrified at the prospect is an approrpiate topic for debate.

AitchTwoOh · 02/03/2009 21:02

"You are another insensitive moron Violethill who has nothing constructive to add on tis matter. Go away and leave this thread be. "

lol gunnerbean, was this the point you wanted her to address?

violethill · 02/03/2009 21:09

ROFL Gunnerbean. You really are f*ing barmy

"JADE IS DYING AND DOING THE BEST BY HER KIDS THE ONLY WAY SHE KNOWS HOW."

am i the only one who isn't really buying this party line. she's doing exactly what she has been doing ever since she came into the public consciousness. trying to get as much publicity and fame as possible.

tiredsville · 03/03/2009 00:14

Why would anyone worry about fame and publicity a few weeks before their death, if it isn't to gain financially for your children?

mayorquimby · 03/03/2009 00:16

i'd imagine for the same reason that someone would aspire to be famous for nothing.
to me anyway it seems that she is addicted to fame itself rather than the finanicial trappings.

tiredsville · 03/03/2009 00:30

I'm not sure. How on earth could one be occupied with fame when in so much pain? Money going into my childrens trust fund could be the only thing to spur me on if I was in her posistion, along with as much quality time as possible.

2shoes · 03/03/2009 08:26

I suppose if you think it will keep your dh out of prison....

mayorquimby · 03/03/2009 09:33

"How on earth could one be occupied with fame when in so much pain? Money going into my childrens trust fund could be the only thing to spur me on if I was in her posistion"

i can see your point, but surely you'd have thought the same about other major events in life then. i mean how can you be obsessed with fame when you are giving birth to/just given birth to a child, surely all your focus would b on them, ditto your marraige day. but so many fame hungry people (not just jade) don't think like that. they see fame as equalling validation.
so maybe thats why i'm a bit sceptical about the motivations that are being publicised. i mean if she's been doing this for her whole public life for one motivation, fame imo, i just don't buy into the fact that her motivation has changed. i mean this pr campaign started as soon as she was first diagnosed.

AitchTwoOh · 03/03/2009 10:18

but despite all the beatification going on, it doesn't work like that in real life.

people die how they lived. they don't really turn into saints when they get the terminal prognosis.

someone else suggested further down that she may need the cameras for reassurance, that may well be the case.

mayorquimby · 03/03/2009 10:51

"people die how they lived. they don't really turn into saints when they get the terminal prognosis.

pretty much exactly how i feel. i mean i obviously have sympathy for her illness, but what's more i feel sorry for someone who seems to need the cameras and fame for reassurance and validation.
so fair enough if others believe this is an altruistic campaign to gain money for her children and that in her heart of hearts she doesn't want the cameras or the fame around her but she is doing it for someone other than herself.
i just don't buy it,i mean she's courted publicity her whole life and no one felt fit to credit her with a positive motivation once until she became ill,i have a feeling many are only doing it now as some form of displaced guilt for things they said earlier about her, others so they can prime themselves for the national outpouring of competitive grief.unfortunately for jade her decision to live her final days through the media means that she will be subjected to negative public reactions such as mine, as well as positive.it's the nature of the beast.

2shoes · 03/03/2009 11:05

maybe she needs to feel loved.
she might not have any real freinds..
she might want to secure more money fro her dc's
IMO it is crazy as it is on the news at ten!!
and I do wonder about the timing...seeing jack the pratt is in court yet again.

GypsyMoth · 03/03/2009 11:16

Morning tv programmes are now resorting to having her friends on tv telling 'their side'.........getting ridiculous now. Kevin her friend had been with her all night apparently, only left to do his tv interview, then is rushing straight back! Madness...

DollyMessiter · 03/03/2009 11:32

Max Clifford will promote her to her last breath.

Whether Jade truly wants that, or whether she is now too ill to stop the train crash coverage of her remaining days, is debatable.

I worry that she is surrounded by people who all want a piece of her, and who will all benefit financially.

It sickens me that anyone would tip off the press to alert them that a terminally ill young woman will soon be arriving at a hospice via ambulance, and clutching at gas and air.

The main thing that concerns me, as I walk past the front page pictures in the newsagents, is that her children will one day see them all, and read all the coverage, and that will be devastating for them.

It's changed from a young woman using her tragic situation to highlight issues surrounding cancer and death, to a well-orchestrated and macabre spectacle.

Do we assume Max Clifford will be donating his fee to a cancer charity?

Jade's children have a father who can and will provide for them. They also have the money from her wedding coverage in trust.

Her children will be well provided for, and she has done enough.

She deserves some peace.

Threadworm · 03/03/2009 11:36

I quite like Max Clifford. He is much less of a hypocrite than most media whores, whether they be slebs, journos or PR people.

He doesn't make any bones about what he does.

noddyholder · 03/03/2009 11:39

Yesterdays tabloid pics of her clutching that mask were pure exploitation of her and the public.Max clifford is a toe rag who really has no bounaries if teh price is right.her boys must wonder what is going on party one minute hospital the next God knows how this will affect them and their views on life and death as they get older. They have been brought up in a world where everything is for sale Disgusting (but only my opinion)

DollyMessiter · 03/03/2009 11:40

I don't know much about MC, but will withold judgement until I know whether he arranged for the press to be there as her ambulance reached the hospice.

DollyMessiter · 03/03/2009 11:41

X posts, Noddy.

mayorquimby · 03/03/2009 11:50

"Max Clifford will promote her to her last breath.

Whether Jade truly wants that, or whether she is now too ill to stop the train crash coverage of her remaining days, is debatable."

see this is another one that confuses me. if someone has spent her life tipping off paps to get her photo in the paper.then when ill signs up to a tv show, continues to do interviews and tip off paps, and most imprtantly HIRES Max Clifford to go on an absolute pr offensive, why do people assume this is all going on against her consent?it's in keeping with her past actions. and more importantly it's in keeping with what she's saying herself i.e. that she's promoting herself to get as much cash as she can for her kids.

i'd agree with threadworm about max clifford.except i think he's a twat, but he's a straight up honest twat who makes no bones about what he's doing. i've never understood why people talk about him as though he follows around these people making money off them against their will.they employ him, these celebs come to him and ask him to do a job, he does his job, somehow the person who made the active choice to hire him is the victim.

Threadworm · 03/03/2009 11:54

Agree quimby. What he does is sleazy and vile, but he doesn't pretend that it is anything other than what it is. And, as you say, he doesn't force people to hire him. He makes them a lot of money because they are willing to go down that road.

DollyMessiter · 03/03/2009 12:08

Mayorquimby, I don't assume MC is going against her consent - of course he isn't.

It's all gone too far for her to stop it now, even if she wanted to, but she is hardly surrounded by level-headed, intelligent, impartial people, is she?

No-one is going to gently suggest that she has done enough, and that she should spend her remaining time with her family and friends, away from the glare of the paparazzi.

It suits them all for the Jade bandwagon to career down its' current path.

Mother, husband, friends - everyone is suddenly hanging on their every word.

That's what I find skin-crawlingly unpleasant about all this - they are selling every last moment of a dying young womans' life, and it doesn't make it any more palatable just because they are all happy to openly admit they are doing it.

GypsyMoth · 03/03/2009 12:12

Even the American show hosts want a piece now!!!

2shoes · 03/03/2009 12:16

but she is going along with it.
she could have got amrried quietly.
no it had to be a big bash, sold to a magazine.
hardly a victim imo

mayorquimby · 03/03/2009 12:22

"That's what I find skin-crawlingly unpleasant about all this - they are selling every last moment of a dying young womans' life, and it doesn't make it any more palatable just because they are all happy to openly admit they are doing it. "

but once again your using the word "they", when really SHE is selling the last moments of her life. and i agree it is deplorable and very uncomfortable, and i have no problem in admitting that.
what i find odd is the attempts to clear jade of all wrong and look to blame others based only on the virtue that she is ill and they are not.yes they're all along for the ride with their greasy hands in the till, but only because jade is letting them.this is all of jades making, i feel sorry for her in that i think she is being foolish and that she for some reason feels the need to do this.but it is still her decision to do all this just as it was her decision to use any event in her life.
that's my only point on the matter really.not that she isn't deserving of sympathy for her illness, just that the tabloidesque redemption of jade from mediahungry celeb into victim is in my mid a farce.
