Wooooo...woooo...what's that noise ? Can you hear someone (or someTHING) creaking the floorboards upstairs...

Disenchanted3 · 12/02/2009 20:07

Oh and after I saw the girl my friend and I went to the town hall and looked up records and newspapers and years before (have fogotten specifics was only 14/15) the area we lived was a big hall with land surrounding it and a big fire had burnt the whole hall and living quarters down.

I think she was a servant girl caught in the fire. She dressed very plainly.

utter garbage, as you would expect from the Sun.

BitOfFun · 12/02/2009 20:09

Stories, stories, we want stories!

Have you heard expat's one about the First World War burns unit?

SmallShips · 12/02/2009 20:12

That clip made me cry with laughter, i don't know why but i have tears rolling down my face. Must be a nervous laugh or something. DH thinks i've lost it.

SmallShips · 12/02/2009 20:14

Ohh i have a story.

When i was little we used to drive past a house everyday, in the upstairs window sat a little old ghostly man, he always waved at me, then one day he wasn't there.

Reading my post back... i've not actually told a ghost story... just an old man story.

He was either a ghost or old man.

BitOfFun · 12/02/2009 20:16

Lol! I've been more scared, I must admit...

ShowOfHands · 12/02/2009 20:17

My Dad's friend- rough and ready, cussed like a navvy, liked a pint and a cigarette- was actually psychic. He phoned one night and told my Dad that my aunt needed to go to hospital, that there was something to do with blood and it was urgent. My aunt is profoundly deaf and has learning difficulties so couldn't confirm whether she felt ill or not. We booked her in to see the GP the next day and in the waiting room she collapsed. She had started hemorrhaging internally and thankfully was treated quickly on site and rushed to hospital.

Anyway, when I hit puberty said friend couldn't be around me. He went pale and wouldn't look at me, left the room when I entered. He said it was my age and that I was unwittingly letting in activity, some of it negative. He did say not to worry though as there was a positive protective male presence in our house. Over the next weeks and months I could sense the male presence, caught glimpses of him in my bedroom. One day me and my Dad were in the kitchen alone, there was a crash in the other room and a strong male voice said "don't worry, I'm here". No radio in the room, clear as anything, me and Dad both heard it. It was a beautiful voice.

Seen several ghosts in my lifetime. All friendly. There's one in our house atm, tried to tell dh but he freaked out and said he didn't want to know.

ContainsWildPerilousLuurve · 12/02/2009 20:18

Oooh i have another.

DHs cousin lived in a very old house and used to see a naked man hovering as if stuck on the back of the big door in their kitchen.

Turns out their cottage was owned by the local 'fetcher and stretcher' woman - who dealt in births and deaths. She used to take the big old door off it's hinges to lie out the bodies of the dead on it.

And one of them was still on it!!!!!!!!!!!!

As an aside - Apparently this is why it's considered bad luck to put new shoes (for a corpse) on a table.

BCNS · 12/02/2009 20:21

we borrowed my parents 'new' house for a couple of months ( we waiting for our new house).. although the house isn't new at all.. the old part of the house is about 300 years old. ( parchments and x's made on parchments dating litterally years back)... anyhoo.

having sorted the dc's beds out and went into what was going to be our bedroom.. assembled bed... sat down on the bed for a break.. and there stood right in front of me was an old woman. clear as day.. looking right at me... dark muted clothes on.. white hair curly and really short and stout old woman... behind her was a wall. I literally had the time to think.. 'what?'.. and she was gone. now where the wall was.. was actually a doorway.

nothing more.. fire irons jump off their stand into the middle of the room when no one is near them.. but infront of people in the room..
a christmas bauble started spinning and then exploded.. no one was near it.

kitchen radio and kettle turns it's self on.

and if your in the kitchen.. you can feel someone brush past you.

mum has seen a black lab..walk through the dining room.. no-one else has seen the old woman.

BUT.. met up with the old owners of the house.. and they said.. that although they never saw it.. the same things seemed to happen.. so they called it george.. I said but george is a woman.. and they were gutted that I had seen her!! LOL

where I had seen her I explained that I doidn't get it because there was a wall behind her .. where the door was.. and they laughed and said.. there used to be a wall there.. but they had the extention put on.. and a doorway put there!

badgermonkey · 12/02/2009 20:23

I just read contain's post as a naked man hoovering, pmsl.

BCNS · 12/02/2009 20:28

oh .. i do like to play with the moving things issue in mums place tho.. If I know she's out and i'm near her place.. I happen to have a key.. and I like to move things about a bit.. for her return..

but the other things like ghost and fire irons and exploding bauble were not me!!

BitOfFun · 12/02/2009 20:30

Proper goosebumps now! Love it...

BitOfFun · 12/02/2009 20:33
