a ghost pressed money into your hand??!!

charlee that is NOT TRUE.

BCNS · 12/02/2009 22:50

Aitch.. you got there before me.. next time ask for tenners

BitOfFun · 12/02/2009 22:56

blueshoes, what point are you making? Do you think there is a rational explanation?

Septimus, did you see my link for BCNS up the thread?if that doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what would

ThePinkWorldOfSeptimusSchmaltz · 12/02/2009 23:08

Hee hee BoF, I like

CharleeheartsherChains · 12/02/2009 23:10

It bloody is true, don't worry you don't have to belive me i know it happened. Unless dp was fucking with my head then i genuinley belive it was my grandad.

ThePinkWorldOfSeptimusSchmaltz · 12/02/2009 23:11

So, being a cynic rationalist myself, I find all this very hard to believe, notwithstanding my friend's experience... Can anyone give us a convincing and rational explanation for ghosts?

ThePinkWorldOfSeptimusSchmaltz · 12/02/2009 23:53

Anyone?

AitchTwoOh · 13/02/2009 00:05

we're all too busy begging cash off our dead rellies, i'm afraid...

charlee it CAN'T be true.

LazyLinePainterJane · 13/02/2009 08:38

Personally I see them as physical manifestations of grief or stress, Schmaltz.

I suffer from very lucid dreams, where someone is in my bedroom, watching me. I sit up in my sleep and try to defend myself from them. At the time I am beyond convinced I am awake. DH has found me shivering at the foot of the bed on the floor before and I have still been asleep. Now I know this is not the same, but IMO it is only one step from this to seeing a ghost. Most reports of these things seem to be family members coming to them in the night, etc.

blueshoes · 13/02/2009 08:59

charlee, did you used to do psychedelic drugs?

BitoFFun, I thought the point about 2 figures was significant in relation to ContainsWild's post further below:

"My friend used to see two ghosts at her old house. An old man sitting in the kitchen and a shadow past the window.

She had a medium visit who told her she could get rid of the old man but wouldn't recommend it. He was protecting her from the shadow."

Also, if there are 2 figures, the explanation of a passing shadow is slightly more problematic.

Me and my best mate went to stay with my sister in High Wickham, yrs back when she was a student. I was a bit apprehensive as she'd said that they'd all expereinced wierd things happen.

We were watching Comic relief funnily enough (is that on tonight? or next week not sure) and this loud, i mean really loud banging started upstairs.

Only us 3 in the house, we were in the living room. it sounded like people were beating the wall. Not a pipes rattling noise, or even a sound that you could place.

We were shitting ourselves, all sat there mute, looking at each other. Noone lived next door.

Few weeks later, my sis was in the house alone. She called me, terrified, she was in her room. She had these silly slippers with bells on and she could hear them jingling downstairs in the living room. I will never forget how frightened she sounded on the phone. I had to calm her down , and literally instruct her to lock her bedroom door.
Next morning, i rang her, and she was to scared to go downstairs. Again I stayed with her on the phone and, she when she opened the living room door, she was like 'oh my god'. The slippers were one one side of the room, and one the other side.
Not as she had left them!!

I also lived in an old house yrs back, and heard and saw things.

One time me and my then bf, were in his room, sunday afternoon, and the plant nwext to the tv started violently shaking, like someone was shaking it.

Good stories, piratecat!

Blueshoes, now I'm getting scared again, and it's broad daylight!

piratecat · 13/02/2009 11:52

did you see the boy and his mum on this morning, they looked very normal and just not the types to be doing this for a laff or windup. Both quietly spoken and just, well normal.!!

mamadiva · 13/02/2009 11:57

Charlee- Is that story about your Grandad true? If it is that is spooky but nice to hink that somehow we can keep on looking after our famillies when we/they are gone

Lazy - My DP suffers from bad night terrors and has done since he was about 7YO they are very similair to what you experiene, have you seen a doctor? A few weeks he thought he was going to be fine he can normally tell if he is stressed or whatever but at 4am I found him downstairs holding the livingroom door shut when I asked what he was doing he told me the bastards in there don't worry turns out he had dreamt that someone had tied up me and DS in our room and we were screaming for help and he couldn't get to us Really freaks him and me out sometimes. It's weird like you are awake and moving/speaking as normal but are living in the nightmare.

I had to see a pschologist when I was a kid because they thought I had an imaginery friend who we later discovered was my Great gran who died when I was about 6 months old, there are pictures of me walking around holding hands with thin air when I was about 3, I also used to tell my mum to leave me alone because the funny lady wanted me and her to play together.

TsarChasm · 13/02/2009 12:06

I like it that the ghost seems to be doing the jigsaws in the house!

It is Friday 13th though...could be a joke

blueshoes · 13/02/2009 12:07

I felt a great urge to look over my shoulder going up the stairs last night. I was really glad to have ds in my bed last night!

But I have never come anywhere near seeing a ghost in my life. I am open to the thought that they exist but they somehow do not trouble me

piratecat, that is quite a few close encounters there. Do you think that people who have close encounters tend to have more than one ie something in their make up makes them more susceptible to paranormal activity, whilst others are more impervious?

TsarChasm · 13/02/2009 12:10

Lol at AitchTwoOh..I'm wondering if I should put a chip and pin machine next to the bed tonight. That'll do nicely..

blueshoes · 13/02/2009 12:12

I have to say that since I moved into my matrimonial home and had children, it is important to me that I feel the 'house' welcomes our presence. I have not seen or heard anything to suggest that we are not alone but it gives me comfort to be embraced and protected by a benign abode.

It is as if we breathed life back into the house. It was an old couple before us that we never saw because the house was repossessed.

spinsugar. that's just how i would describe the noise we heard. just not 'right' somehow.

blueshoes, I am not sure about why or if it's limited to certian people. People have encounters, who were previously non believers, then change their minds. I knwo that the house i lived in, the shaking plant one, was overall creepy, in that everyone who loved there, about 6 of us, had something happen at one time or another. It semed to be 'the house'. At my sisters, the same thing.
