I certainly do. His newspaper column is one of only a few I make a point of reading each week. But he does irritate me sometimes too so I do know what others here must feel about him.

I love Top Gear, especially the challenges and the banter between the three overgrown schoolboys. The one-eyed thing was below the belt but it's ridiculous for people to start getting sniffy about the English and Scottish mentioning each other's nationalities. (Moment of pedant panic about apostrophe there.)

The real context here is the Mail and Murdoch empires et al never losing an opportunity to knock the Beeb. Funny how none of the papers that make such a fuss about every Beeb presenter who slips up ever mentions that they are owned by direct commercial rivals...
