Here

My God, what an arrogant and offensive tosser! There is no need at all in my opinion to refer to a person's nationality and / or disability in relation to their ability to do a job well.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:29

you do know about david blunkett, don't you?

SoupDragon · 06/02/2009 18:31

He loves dogging? Or was it that he's a dog lover...? Something to do with digs though.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2009 18:31

Something to do with dogs

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/02/2009 18:34

So, let me get this straight:

If you work for the BBC, it's OK to have a laugh about someone's disability, and someone's race as long as it's Scottish?

Oh, and as long as you say, 'sorry' quickly...

expatinscotland · 06/02/2009 18:35

it's also okay to make obscene phone calls to old men and broadcast it, too, ilove.

as long as you say 'sorry' after people react negatively.

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:36

No, I think the situation is: if you work for the BBC and say something less than PC, you better apologise quick if you want to keep your job.

Desiderata · 06/02/2009 18:38

I totally agree with Custy.

Predictable Scottish ire, I see. No sense of humour ... none at all

SoupDragon · 06/02/2009 18:41

Would there have been as much fuss had, oh let's say Billy Connolly, referred to Tony Blair as an English idiot? I doubt it actually.

Anyway, I think the only part that needed apologising for was the reference to his failing eyesight. Insults between English & Scottish are generally mutual and light hearted.

TheCrackFox · 06/02/2009 18:42

I'm Scottish and I took no offence about JC mentioning where GB comes from. He is Scottish so don't see the big deal about stating the obvious.

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:43

that's the only bit he did apologise for, soupy.

so no one's read my link thrn. i can tell because no one has posted 36 POINTS???!!

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:44

"Insults between English & Scottish are generally mutual and light hearted".

And have been going on for at least 1000 years.

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:46

Oh was it a link to read Aitch? Apologies. I thought it was a youtube clip of Ben Elton mouthing off and I had children present.

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:47

yes, irt wasn't clear, srry

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:50

WOW 36 POINTS!!!!! That is HUGE

Tamarto · 06/02/2009 18:51

Seriously though, 36 point!!!

That is some sight problem.

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:51

thank - YOU.

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:52

That do you?

Seriously, I had no notion of his sight problems. I feel a little more positive towards him on a human level now I know this. It must be very hard for him.

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:52

next time he's in parly on the news, look at his notes.

Tamarto · 06/02/2009 18:52

Who else checked to see how big it was?

AitchTwoOh · 06/02/2009 18:53

i still like him, i think hr's decent. and sexy. there, i said it.

TigerFeet · 06/02/2009 18:54

JC is always coming out with guff like this. IMO he loves the furore, he likes to see himself as someone controversial, possibly he thinks he says out loud what the average Daily Mail reader is thinking. Treat him like a toddler and ignore the bad behaviour - what would piss him off most of all would be to be ignored completely I would imagine.

Oooooh that's Biiiiiiiiig

DumbledoresGirl · 06/02/2009 18:55

Me Tamarto!

I changed a poem I had written ds1 from 10 points.

It didn't make the poetry any better unfortunately.

MuchLessTiredNow · 06/02/2009 18:58

getting offended by JC is like getting offended by a smelly old aunt who's drunk too much sherry at Christmas - little point. Actually - in the main I think he's very funny becuase he sends himself up most of the time and I like the fact he is unashamedly non PC and doesn't self edit. If I was Gordon Brown I would not even think twice about the adjectives and look at the message that was said afterwards.

Saltire · 06/02/2009 18:59

Aitch - who? Clarkson

paranoid2 · 06/02/2009 19:16

Andy Murrays comments were said in the company of Tim Henman and a journalist. Tim henman actually said that he had started the banter and it was all just the typical stuff that goes on between football fans. The journalist obviously saw an opportunity. The JC story was completely different , aimed at an individual, completely irrelevant and just insulting. JC is a complete egotistic twit
