www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1872523.ece

Doesnt this sort of stink of hypercritism? when she said I wont comment until I speak to my 'agent' - was what she meant - I could make some money out of this - I know if every time I speak I have The Sun logo above my head I will bask in the glory?

Isnt talking about how rubbish RB is in bed stooping to the very level that we are accusing RB of? Will RBs granfather not have to read this article and will they not be upset? Sachs has been very dignified about the whole inccident though it has to be said.

Well you seem to be so good at the Ross and Brand 'humour' Dittany that I think it is you that is the closet fan?!(Thats your hero that is (May whitehouse Experience)

izyboy · 30/10/2008 21:46

Sorry (Mary Whitehouse Experience)

Yeah yeah.

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 21:48

oooh check out your passive aggressive smiley usage

izyboy · 30/10/2008 21:49

mp I think we have tested Dittany's humour enough for one night obviously.

onebatmotherofNormanBates · 30/10/2008 21:50

MP, I was responding rather late to your post which quoted another poster's " actually 3 big heided dysfuctional egotists getting all this mileage is quite silly" and added " I thought you were referring to 3 posters then and wondered which ones they might be grin"

which came close on the back of "lolol that is hilarious
what a strange place to hang ut for the pursuit of truth and beauty"

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 30/10/2008 21:50

"She has NOT sought fame over this. It has totally not been her doing."

She didn't have to sell to the Sun. It might not be 'seeking fame' but anyone knows that will stoke it up more. And why on earth would you allow Max Clifford to come sniffing round your doorstep. You'd tell him to go away and shut the door. No need to 'put the record straight', if that's what she's done. People will just misread and assume that RB pretended to be Manuel whilst having sex, rather than pretended to be Manuel before having sex. As I did. I'm not sure it makes much difference. I wasn't interested in RB's side of the story and I'm not interested in hers.

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 21:51

well the two posts are not related in subject matter

I was merely saying 'hoho, I thought that comment referred to this thread and assumed it was directed at me'

seriously, there is too much over-analysis here

Ivegotaheadache · 30/10/2008 21:52

NO, I don't think I did write anything strong on my thoughts of how society worked. I disagreed with why you thought RB was a misogynist.
You disagreed with those arguments. I've never linked this whole RB/GB thing to the whole of society.

And I did find your posts to morning paper sneery and patronising.

I didn't mean to insult you so I'm sorry, but I didn't find your arguments convincing!

ScottishMummy · 30/10/2008 21:52

you lot would give melanie klein a headache

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 21:53

Don't worry I have been known to venture into the sneering and patronising myself

I know that will come as a huge surprise to you all

p.s. has anyone written my roundup yet? I have about 10 minutes to hand it in

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 21:54

So why are some women prepared to defend Brand and Ross whatever kind of shit they pull whilst going after the woman they attacked with such gusto?

Dittany you have said this 100 times

Neither of these things are happening

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 30/10/2008 21:55

Who is defending Brand and Ross for their stunt and who is going after the woman they attacked?

Saying that I think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion and that I think she would have made a more powerful statement if she hadn't sold her story to the papers is neither defending RB and JR nor attacking GB.

ScottishMummy · 30/10/2008 21:55

defending men but denigating women.would this be the same women who have been ripping the piss out each other

LittleBellaLugosi · 30/10/2008 21:56

Well I think Onebatmother and Mabana's posts on this have been the most intelligent and coherent I've read. (And I agree with them, obv.)

All those on the opposing side simply haven't put up as interesting, intelligent arguments. Just sneered at interesting intelligent arguments as being over-analytical.

Of course you don't want things to be analysed, if your analysis is rubbish and someone else's is better.

onebatmotherofNormanBates · 30/10/2008 21:56

which posts to mp were sneery and patronizing???!! MP is about as longterrm an MN-er as can be. I have been a bit surprised by her posts - do you mean me saying 'it's not like you to be so doggedly sneery?"

That is utterly genuine. I was surprsed. There is no patronage at all.

izyboy · 30/10/2008 21:56

Not me SM

mabanana · 30/10/2008 21:57

No, she didn't have to. But why shouldn't she? Why not get anything out of this horrible debacle? She would have been absolutely under siege from the media, literally. THey would have been on her doorstep, ringing her doorbell and ringing her phone night and day. Max Clifford is a sleazeball, but he knows tabloids, he knows the going rate, will stop you being financially ripped off and will also ensure you are protected, given somewhere to go so you can sleep, so that people aren't calling you all the time. And will help you decide what you are going to say. It's not as if the papers were just going to say, 'hmm, pretty young woman, racy photographs on her My Space page...think we'll just not mention her'. She was going to be exposed thanks to what RB said, she kept it all private. This probably seemed like a way to take control of a chaotic situation.
I am not defending aggressive doorstepping by the way, just saying it happens. She was in for some major coverage, much of it pretty horrible because of what RB and JR said, this way she has some control over a little bit of it.

LittleBellaLugosi · 30/10/2008 21:58

No one has yet analytically explained why women's silence is so powerful.

Please. Explain it. I'm all agog. Seriously, people keep saying she would be more powerful if she'd shut up. How? I'm not taking the piss I honestly woudl like to know why some of you think silence in women is so powerful.

morningpaper · 30/10/2008 21:59

Silence when confronted with any media scandal is often the best approach

The vagina is irrelevant

LittleBellaLugosi · 30/10/2008 22:01

oh and those of you who are condemning her for hiring Max C - are you mad? The reason people hire him, is because he is the best in the business. If I suddenly became the subject of untoward media interest, I'd hire him too, simply because he really knows what he's doing. You don't have to like your accountant, or lawyer, or publicist - you just need them to do a good job for you.

skyatnight · 30/10/2008 22:01

Bella: Probably because men approve of it and so they give you Brownie points for it and then they will choose you as a mate and so it is an evolutionarily-effective tactic for promoting the perpetuation of your gene pool? (Do I get a point for that?)

Liffey · 30/10/2008 22:01

I agree littlebellguosi.

Is it because she has contained her anger and humiliation, and suppressed her surely instinctive need to put her side out there?

Well. Bravo.
