I did wonder how come she left the house by the front door (which automatically locks when shut) without her sons and the back door was completely blocked with stuff.

TheBlonde · 08/10/2008 16:16

I'm not shocked
It sounded dodgy to start with

littleducks · 08/10/2008 16:22

link?

it's all fairly vague

littleducks · 08/10/2008 16:26
Hmm
littleducks · 08/10/2008 16:27

story not giving anything away, poor children

was the info about doors etc. on tv?

jesuswhatnext · 08/10/2008 16:33

how awful, its odd though in that when i first saw this on the news i commented to dh that i thought there was more to this than met the eye and he told me off for being a cynical old moo - i take no pleasure in being right this time

monkeymonkeymonkey · 08/10/2008 16:51

When one of the men who had gone into the house was interviewed on the news he had commented on where the children were in the house, and it seemed a bit unusual.

LouMacca · 08/10/2008 16:53

i read in the paper about the front door locking behind her but had no idea that the back door was completely blocked with stuff.

i honestly thought it was just an awful tragedy. i'm sure more info will come out soon

childrenofthecornsilk · 08/10/2008 16:58

where were they found?

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 08/10/2008 17:04

I just felt the back door being blocked with boxes was a message to everyone to keep exits free as none of us know if and when a fire will start.

The police saying they thought it was a tragic accident but they have to investigate made me feel like they thought it was anything but.

Those poor boys.

Everyone check your smoke alarms, that doors and windows have the keys where you can get them and a plan for who grabs who in an emregency.

I hope none of you ever need to do it.

monkeymonkeymonkey · 08/10/2008 17:12

One of the men has said that the boys were under the stairs.

Just thinking about it a bit more though, that doesnt have to imply anything at all, as the boys could have run there for shelter.

Apologies for jumping to unfounded conclusions.

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 17:16

It didn't make sense to me either. Obviously I don't know all the details but I do know that if I was running out of my house that was on fire, dd would be in my arms, not left inside.

Told dh it sounded dodgy and he had the same reaction as yours jesuswhatnext.

bronze · 08/10/2008 17:17

I have to say when I first read a short story on it I did wonder why she wasn't in the house with them but the whole thing upset me too much to probe into the story further.

im not shocked, i thought it was odd that she left them to get help, surely you would just get them out as soon as you could.

The first thing i would do is get evryone out the house and then get help.

poor little boys

ImnotMamaGbutsheLovesMe · 08/10/2008 17:19

For what ever reason maybe she felt she couldn't get the boys out alone and ran outside for help.

I must admit I have heard too many stories of children who have died as adults have got out and couldn't go back in for them, so I wouldn't leave without them.

Sometimes I wake up and don't know where I am. Perhaps she was snoozing and woke up in a muddle.

Frankensteinshughjarsssss · 08/10/2008 17:22

Surely shock wouldnt kick in till after you were out the house?

Didn't it happen in the middle of the day?

Mercy · 08/10/2008 17:24

That's true.

We have 2 smoke alarms just in case the worst happens. I've also asked dh to unlock the windows as we realised I couldn't get them open (ancient sash windows).

I'd rather we got burgled than trapped in a fire.
