they made a big mistake leaving their dcs alone in a hotel one which they will never do again imsure and one which im sure many people have done before, although that doesnt make it right!

they paid the ultimate price for that mistake. they lost thier little girl. i dont understand why people still insist on making hurtfull comments against them and calling for ss to be involved! yes they did the wrong thing and they paid for that and madeleine also paid for thier mistake!

it is time to leave them alone now to get on with thier lives the best that they can while coming to terms with what has happened to them!

and why cant they go to canada to visit family? of course it would have been hard for them to go as a family without madeleine but they cannot put thier lives on hold because they have the twins to think of. whatever you think of k and g those twins need a normal life

Oliveoil · 21/07/2008 14:29

erm, they spoke to the press to keep her constantly in the news and the headlines

god knows you would do whatever you could

anyhoo, I am off, these threads get me annoyed/upset in equal measure

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:30

I do feel very sorry for them as a parent hunker what they must be going through would be like hell.

But TBH I still think it's out of order that there has been nothing done for that little girl in the sense that if her mother and father had looked after her probably she wouldnt be... well wherever she is.

"You find it ridiculous that they moan about how hard it is to go on holiday without one of their children? Jesus wept"

what i think some people find ridiculous is that they moan to the press about it and then talk about just wanting to be left alone to carry on with their lives. some people just think that you can't have it both ways, you can't use the press as your engine and then complain when it becomes intrusive.

personally i have never seen articles with them moaning about their holidays so i do not even know if such articles exist, i'm speaking more in generalities.

combustiblelemon · 21/07/2008 14:32

If you're that bored youngbutnotdumb why not try doing something more constructive.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:33

Olive- The paper I read it in had a tiny little corner of a page and it didn't mention that they were visiting family so for that I apologise I thought they were just going off on a nice happy family trip.

To me though yes they need a normal life but surely a year is too soon.

Hunkermunker people feeling sorry for them depends on whether or not they think they were responsible though surely?

How can you feel sorry for someone you think to be responsible for killing their own child? There's no evidence to suggest they didn't. Equally there's no evidence to suggest they did, so that leaves people to make up their own minds as to whether they feel they were guilty or not.

I don't think there's anything wrong with going on holiday. As I said before, life goes on and they had to move on for the sake of their own children. I am very uncomfortable with the amount of press coverage they get and I don't see why the public needed to know they were going on holiday, but going on holiday in itself isn't odd I don't think. if they'd been going back to the same place then I might think differently, but Canada is a different place altogether.

I think both sides are correct yes. I don't think the parents pohysically did anything to their daughter but I do think that it's partly their fault due to lack of consideration for their childrens safety. But I just can't comprehend how someone could contemplate leaving a 3YO and 2 2YO's alone in a foriegn country, with the doors unlocked.

What I meant was I am bored and when I saw it on the news and took interest in the subject and thought I would see what other people thought.

Wow - you must be REALLY bored. Even the hungriest vultures leave carrion alone after a year. Trust me, it has all been said. Go and watch Jeremy vine if you can't face the ironing.

They are going on oprah aswell very odd.It has always been more about them than the little girl. They have said and done some very strange things so obviously people have different views on them. They should at least be charged with neglect as they did leave them every night but I think thats unlikely now.Theirs is a life sentence no matter who did what They lost their child.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:38

No there lives will never be normal again.
But thats partly their fault so why should they live normal happy lives they should be daunted by what they done and I dont mean that like oh they should burn in hell bla de bla. I mean it as they should have to live with guilt evetryday and guilt isnt something I ever saw in those 2 so that is my opinion and thats the end fo me

There is no point displaying in any amount of empathy on threads like this.

The ghouls will have their say.

Although I wish they'd feck off and have it on the single thread reserved for this unpleasant speculation.

YBND, why don't you continue your conversation there, and link to this thread from there?

They are not being 'cleared', they were never charged. There was nothing that stood up as evidence. They were simply questioned under oath and with solicitors present - a stautus know as arguido / arguida.

NorthernLurker · 21/07/2008 14:45

'a year is too soon' ????

I see YBND - you apparently know how long a parent should grieve for before going on holiday? How about going back to work- did Gerry McCann do that too quickly for you as well?

Everything that could possibly be said about this tragedy has already been said. Your comments do you no credit and I think you would be best served by keeping your curiousity to yourself.

Pan · 21/07/2008 14:45

youngbutnotdumb - isn't this a misnomer?
