Well Herman u have a point why do so many people have such strong opinions of the McCanns?

Well one of my theories is that people saw through the 'sadness' of those two and saw more the total inhability to see that they had done anything wrong!

Wonder if they left the twins when they went to Canada this year? Oh the sympathy apparently it was so difficult to go because of what happened. At which point were they forced with a gun to their heads to get on a plane and go to Canada for 3 weeks?

I'm not trolling donnie. I'm having an opinion as difficult a concept as that is for some. It is a relevant issue so whats the problem?

It's a very emotive subject because firstly it was never resolved, and secondly a child was involved.

On the one side there are the people who are outraged because anyone could leave their children alone in an apartment while they went to dinner and therefore see them as uncaring parents who must have had something to do with her disappearance, and on the other side there are the people who think of it from the parent's point of view and imagine what it would be like to lose one of their own children and therefore cannot comprehend how anyone could blame these parents.

As we don't know what happened, no side is really wrong in their thinking.

hunkermunker · 21/07/2008 14:08

It's like lifting up a rock, clicking one of these threads, although at least with rock-lifting, you see wildlife that's interesting to toddlers.

donnie · 21/07/2008 14:09

oh yes, opinions. I see you even have an opinion on whether or not the parents of the girl should have gone on holiday to Canada. Becuase it's important that you share that with us is it not?

Anyway you are most definitely stirring up trouble and a troll to boot. I am leaving this thread which will no doubt descend into a virtual blood bath. Which is just what you wanted. Nice. Well done.

onceinalifetime · 21/07/2008 14:10

I've reported Fadge's post - whatever your opinion (and that's all it can be), I don't think it's acceptable to label someone like that.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:11

I think both sides are correct yes. I don't think the parents pohysically did anything to their daughter but I do think that it's partly their fault due to lack of consideration for their childrens safety. But I just can't comprehend how someone could contemplate leaving a 3YO and 2 2YO's alone in a foriegn country, with the doors unlocked.

What I meant was I am bored and when I saw it on the news and took interest in the subject and thought I would see what other people thought.

they did it for the fame innit.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:13

I didn't want an argument I wanted a conversation about what other people thought if you don't understand that then go Donnie. If yo don't like it go.

[shoch] HERMANMUNSTER

What an awful thing to say!!! Sounds like I just Sunday named you!

It's so sad, this desire to hurt, this enjoyment of kicking people when they are more down than any of us dares to imagine.
Of course they took their children to Canada! Why on earth assume not? Just so you can revel in hating them even more? They went to visit family. Should they never be allowed to leave their house again?
Horrible.

icecreamsoda · 21/07/2008 14:14

Whether they went on holiday this year is irelevant. They have two other children and they have to get on with their lives.

But i don't see why the media needs to report that they have gone on holiday and I don't see why they need a spokesperson. They are not celebrities. Now that the case is being closed maybe they can get on with their lives in private, without the need for agents and spokespersons and constant press coverage.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:15

LOL obviously that was meant to be shock not shoch.

onceinalifetime · 21/07/2008 14:15

youngbutnotdumb, read the other thread if you want to know what people think, and then leave it at that.

Oliveoil · 21/07/2008 14:16

they needed a spokesman as they were being hounded to death by the media and he could be wheeled out to speak to them rather than the McCanns

they do not think they are celebrities

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:17

The media reprted on it because theyspoke to them ehwhy not just say no comment. Rather than oh yes we went aweay for 3 weeks it was so hard without Maddie!

I'm not saying they shouldnt go o =n holiday but I find it rediculous thay they sit and moan to the pa[paers about how hard it was to go.

OP posts:
fryalot · 21/07/2008 14:18

donnie - youngbutnotdumb is NOT a troll. She is a mumsnetter who is fairly new to the site and wasn't around last year.

YBND - I just directed you to the other thread because I knew you wouldn't have known about it. I wasn't intending to be a "I'm a long-time MNer and I know more that you-oo"-er.

MsDemeanor · 21/07/2008 14:18

Have you any idea what a horrible, vindictive, spiteful person you sound like?

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:22

Squonk I didnt think that LOL.

I started getting messages and started replying was all. Sorry if you got that impression.

OP posts:
spicemonster · 21/07/2008 14:22

You find it ridiculous that they moan about how hard it is to go on holiday without one of their children? Jesus wept.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:23

MsD- Read into my posts what you wissh if you interpret them as nasty or whatever then that is fine. If u dont fine. Basically either way I couldnt really care what u think I am entitled to an opinion a long with everyone else.

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 21/07/2008 14:23

YBND, isn't there even a corner of your being that feels sorry for them?

I hate all this "I wouldn't have done x, y and z" - really? How do you know? Grief does peculiar things to people - and they were desperate to find out what had happened to her and to hopefully get her back.

Why on earth people feel the need to be so unpleasant about them is beyond me. As if they don't realise what they did was a bit misguided, with hindsight. As if they haven't had the ultimate punishment for a lapse in juddgement.

donnie · 21/07/2008 14:24

"what I meant was I am bored" ( YBND's 14.11 post)

illuminating, in the context.

youngbutnotdumb · 21/07/2008 14:24

No SPicemonster I find it hard that they moaned on about it to the press for what reason?

What good was it doing them talking to the press. If it was me I wouldnt have thats all I said I dont think i COULD GO ON HOLIDAY AGAIN.
