Wow that’s an awful tragedy, the poor victim

Raindance5 · 21/10/2026 18:13

Good God that is horrendous to read. That poor, poor man.

CarbonelKitten · 21/10/2026 18:14

This is my son's headmaster. The loveliest man. The school is in mourning it's been devastating 😢

To be honest I can't actually read the details of the trial anymore because it is just too upsetting.

WhosGotTheKeysToMyBimma · 21/10/2026 18:17

Oh my God. That poor man. And the motorcyclist who followed the trail of blood to find him. Heartbreaking.

LarkAscendingRose · 21/10/2026 18:19

It's heartbreaking. He may well have survived if only the driver had stopped immediately.

I'm so sorry. It's just horrific.

It seems from the reports that he was alive the whole time and only died after he was thrown from underneath the car two miles later. What an awful way to die. Such a sad case.

caffelattetogo · 21/10/2026 18:27

The driver stopped for 90 seconds, tried to pull him off the car and when he couldn’t he started driving again. Just awful.

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · 21/10/2026 18:28

Just read the article. That is frankly fucking horrific.

I hope the driver never sees freedom again.

Waitingfordoggo · 21/10/2026 18:35

Good grief, how utterly horrendous. I hope this poor man’s family can eventually find peace, although I can’t imagine how. The motorcyclist that followed the trail of blood found Mr Mullins who was still (just) breathing at that time. I hope the victim was aware in that moment that someone kind and good had come to try and help him. That’s the only tiny nugget of comfort I could possibly extract from this truly awful story.

My thoughts are with everyone who loves the victim, and I hope the perpetrator gets the harshest possible sentence, and some very unwelcoming fellow inmates.

Dragonscaledaisy · 21/10/2026 18:40

I remember the day this happened but am only understanding the true horror of this now. I can't imagine anyone being cruel enough to do this to another human being. How awful for his family to have to hear these terrible details of what he went through.

DancingPhantom · 21/10/2026 18:55

Mr Mullins was also my DCs headmaster. My children had nothing but praise for him. He came across as somebody who loved his work and was genuinely interested in the pupils. He was really visible and always talking to them. I agree with the previous poster that this has been devastating for the school community.

I can't imagine what his family and friends must be going through having to listen to this awful evidence.
It's absolutely hideous.

CarbonelKitten · 21/10/2026 18:59

One of my closest friends worked with him for a long time in another school and he really was the loveliest man. I think he turned Stretford grammar school around when he moved there and became head master.

I have not been able to talk to people about it without crying to be honest because we all thought he had just been knocked off his bike and killed and that was very sad but reading the actual details of what in fact happened is just unbearable.

GetThatFaceOff · 21/10/2026 19:01

It's horrendous. My brother (21) died in the exact same way, in the 1970s. I was with him and saw the whole thing.

ZenNudist · 21/10/2026 19:16

Stretford grammar is local to me, and I saw Mr Mullins speak at an open day recently. We prayed for him in church the day he died and he continues to be in our prayers. I had not appreciated the horrific circumstances of his death.

I don't hold with the death penalty but ganging drawing and quartering would seem perfectly reasonable in these circumstances. What kind of monster does this?

Awful that he was still just alive when found. I'd have been glad if he'd at least died on impact. His poor poor family.

We can at least hope this monster gets whole life.

TangledUp679 · 21/10/2026 19:21

It's awful, it reminds me of PC Andrew Harper's death. I really hope, unlike in that case, that this results in a murder conviction.

Can't get some of the images out of my head relating to that case. Unbearable awful cruelty. A complete waste of two lives. But for absolutely no reason. Both completely avoidable if the perpetrators had an ounce of human feeling.

Gosh I’m so sorry to hear that.

Maomee · 21/10/2026 19:55

Absolutely horrifying, no one should have to die that way..
I live in Manchester and there are some utter maniacs behind the wheel here.

Gengha · 21/10/2026 19:58

Absolutely horrific. That poor man.

caffelattetogo · 21/10/2026 20:21

The defendant should have done the only decent thing and pleaded guilty to spare the witnesses and victim’s family further pain.

4timesthefun · 21/10/2026 20:25

Horrific. The fact the defendant pleaded not guilty to ALL the charges is just mind boggling.

Awkwardisfunny · 21/10/2026 20:33

LarkAscendingRose · 21/10/2026 14:04

Just read this. I wouldn't object to a public hanging of Simon Richardson. Assuming the evidence is as indisputable as that news story describes.

That is one of the most disturbing and horrific news stories of a person's pointless, entirely avoidable suffering and death (murder) I have read about.

Crazybigtoe · 21/10/2026 22:22

Just appalling. Positively brutal.

That's not just panic. That's blind contempt for human life. What would possibly make that vile piece of flesh think he was not guilty of any of the charges?

At least the decent motorcyclist was with Mr Mullins in his final moments so he was not alone.

PauliesWalnuts · 21/10/2026 22:28

A friend’s son also goes to the school - what an awful thing to happen. I’m glad that at least the driver’s cousin has decided to give evidence for the prosecution even though she didn’t call the police at the time.
