Is the video of the man being swallowed by the whale real?

Having watched it, I can't help but think it's been made with AI. And if it did actually happen, then how lucky it was that someone was filming him at the right time. That's the problem with AI, I don't know what's real and what's not anymore. But it just seems too far fetched to be true!

It’s hard to see on the video but looks like he was knocked off the kayak due to the waves. Couldn’t actually see him being swallowed.

Of course it's genuine! Take a look at the article on the BBC.

The guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time - when the whale surfaced.

He and the kayak went into the whale's mouth. He describes it in the interview on the BBC. Then the whale spat him out.

There was a genuine looking one a while ago involving two women, but yes, I can see why you thought this was fake. There is something robotic in the movement, and then the back of the whale that's coming out of the water doesn't look real.

Yes I know he wasn't actually swallowed, I was just being lazy in writing the post. With so much AI stuff out there these days it's hard to know what's real and what's not. Guess it's certainly plausible, but something just makes me feel pretty sceptical about it.

Apparently he was out kayaking with his dad who was filming him. I think the BBC would have verified the footage (via the metadata) before broadcasting it. I certainly think it's real.

No clue about AI, the video my cousin showed me looked fake, and many modern movies seem to be fake backgrounds as well.

Tasted feels deliberate in a way. Food tasting , wine tasting. I accidentally tasted it sounds like a small child left in a room with cake. I wonder if there’s a better word in Spanish that doesn’t translate well.

I think it’s 100% real - not slick enough to be AI. Poor guy, what an ordeal. Imagine being in a whale’s cavernous mouth with all its horrendous space, smells and … flesh. God, awful!
