OMG: Forceps crush newborn's skull.

I was pulled off the bed when a dr was trying to pull my ds1 out with forceps.
She was pulling whilst I wasnt having contractions.
I couldnt get my words out but the Midwife and dh knew by the look on my face what was happening and they were screaming at the Dr.
It was awful.

I have just read the whole story again. The poor parents, also the father had lost his previous partner and unborn girl there. How low can a hospital sink? What sort of standards are there for doctors to practice?

it is very tragic and absolutely horrific. i am so sorry for the avoidable and tragic death of their new born baby. it must be unbearable.

however, the thread title is very insensitive, and this is absolutely not a reflection of a properly carried out forceps assisted delivery.

this was a case of excessive force and it absolutely not typical.

i hope they do find the doctor responsible and bring him to justice.

mshadows, it is more likely your DS's sons head was moulded ( which is normal) by his position and time spent within the birth canal, than the forceps.

I hacked the Sun headline in. That's why it sounds so drastic. The blame definitely lies on the doctor's shoulders. Just goes to show you what animals are allowed to practice.

Were there no nurses in the operating theatre who could have stopped this? Are they not allowed to say anything by UK law?

I've heard of this happening before, so not suprised but very sad for the parents.

I love the emphasis placed on the fact that the Dr in question is foreign.

My ds was delivered by forceps (but c section) and he still bears a scar behind his ear.

Poor baby, poor parents.

I can't read it. I'm having a planned c-section so know rationally that it won't happen to me, but I just can't bring myself to read it

Lulumama makes an important point. This is a horrific and tragic case, and my heart goes out to the poor parents , but properly used forceps have saved many, many babies and mums since their invention.

none of mine were delivered with forceps, I alwasy had a huge phobia about them and told them I wouldn't let them use them.
