  1. Do you think that its' human nature to find natural events (sudden weather changes, earthquakes, avalanches, storms, tsunami's, volcanoes) exciting?
  1. Do you you think that when such things happen AND loss of life occurs it's wrong to admit how amazing nature can be?

  2. Do you think it's wrong for somebody to write about the 'otherside' of people's feelings following a natural disaster - ie not focussing on the death and desctruction but focussing on people's amazement at nature

  3. If you could stop ALL natural events such as - earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, avalanches, floods, droughts, landslides or tidal waves (even those where no loss of life occurs) would you?

My answers.

  1. Yes I do - the things this planet can do without human intervention is simply incredible

  2. No I don't. I think NOT talking about it is simply trying to hide the truth

  3. No.

  4. No I wouldn't, nature has always done this to our planet, if you stopped all of those things it wouldn't be our planet anymore!

JulieF, please clarify why you needed to drag my name into this in such a disparaging way?

I have been posting on MN for a month or so, as I was invited by a fellow BW member, but chose a different username as I did not wish petty people with grudges to pre-judge me based on previous debates on BW where I may have got into a row with them.

I might not be the easiest of posters to deal with, but I am always honest in my opinions and dealings with others. Yes, I am bolshy and a bit gobby, but there are far worse traits to be found online than that!!

I was absolutely NOT being disparaging. It was a joke to Gwen who seemed to be being attacked for posting her views. I enjoy your BW debates, I sometimes agree, sometimes disagree with you.

When I saw your name on this thread I logged on to welcome you. I am sorry you feel like this about me. Tone of voice etc is very difficult to put across as I am sure you well know.

I always try and get along with everyone within the confines of a good, interesting discussion.

"Just hope than Amunette from BW doesn't join us on here, that would make life interesting!!!!!"

Maybe a smiley or wink would have shown it was not meant in a nasty way. But still, forgiven, life is too short to quibble about such things!! Especially in light of some of the horrid hoaxers around the boards these days

All the same, I will revert to my "real" ID, so I get a fair innings, methinks!!

JulieF · 11/01/2005 17:14

Isn't interesting betterthan boring!!

Sorry, I'm rubbish atsmileys, I can just about manage a basic or but nothing more! I thought the exclamation marks conveyed it but obviously not!

TwoIfBySea · 11/01/2005 22:08
  1. No because it is beyond our control
2. Yes as amazing is the wrong word, perhaps powerful or destructive? 3. Straight after a natural disaster it would be in poor taste, in hindsight again, the word amaze to be replaced with awe would be more respectful to those who died or were immediately affected. Short answer would be yes for this one. 4. No but I would make damn sure, regardless of cost, that every country on this planet had warning systems in place. It is a disgrace that this hasn't happened - a disgrace on the West that is.
Piffle · 11/01/2005 22:35

Aside from the questions that Gwen posed, seen a few reminders here as to why I left BW!

handlemecarefully · 11/01/2005 23:15

Oh Christ...I can't stand it. More madness.
