  1. Do you think that its' human nature to find natural events (sudden weather changes, earthquakes, avalanches, storms, tsunami's, volcanoes) exciting?
  1. Do you you think that when such things happen AND loss of life occurs it's wrong to admit how amazing nature can be?

  2. Do you think it's wrong for somebody to write about the 'otherside' of people's feelings following a natural disaster - ie not focussing on the death and desctruction but focussing on people's amazement at nature

  3. If you could stop ALL natural events such as - earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, avalanches, floods, droughts, landslides or tidal waves (even those where no loss of life occurs) would you?

My answers.

  1. Yes I do - the things this planet can do without human intervention is simply incredible

  2. No I don't. I think NOT talking about it is simply trying to hide the truth

  3. No.

  4. No I wouldn't, nature has always done this to our planet, if you stopped all of those things it wouldn't be our planet anymore!

The "extremely sad" thread, pd. It's a well-known mumsnetter who is always starting threads like this, gets lots of kind well-meaning advice and ignores it. She has posted under the names lavender1, lavender2, baldrick, whowantstobeamillionaire and lavenderr among others. (Can tell it's her from the writing style).

OK Listen guys I don't have time to read all of the posts from 8.48 when I left the computer.

BUT I'll say just one thing - on Babyworld there's a forum pretty much like this one - for discussing everything under the sun, I was banned because I dared to criticise the layout of the forum and when they posted a "Zero Tolerance" policy I complained on the forum saying it was treating us like children.

I, and 5 other were banned, I have been back on the site for about 3 months now.

I didn't post this to cause controvosy - I posted it because SOMEONE ELSE had brought up the subject via a link to a Times Article - a dicussion started on the main Tsunami thread and some people said it was the approriated place and could it be moved.

I did. Thankyou to those who have seen this as what it is - simply asking questions that have no doubt come about in lots of places.

Hi to JulieF - sure I should know who you are but I guess I'll figure it out if I nip onto BW.

It seems to have become a thread talking about ghostly prescences near the and seen as though some of you seem to find it 'too controversial' I guess I'll have to bow out - off to continue discussing breadmakers with KS, and other such things.

Sorry if I offended people - but if anyone of you know me from other forums (or Ciao or Dooyoo - long time back) you'll know I have my own opinion and I won't be swayed from speaking it for fear of upsetting a few people I don't know.

i guessed too, i think we all did, shes owned uyp now, sort of

morningpaper · 01/01/2005 22:35

I thought that originally the poster was asking questions that a child had been asking them - they sound very naive! And I'm sure lots of children (and adults of course) are asking these sorts of questions.

By the way, the numbers killed in the tsunami are similar to those killed during our current conflict in Iraq - food for thought?

This place gets stranger by the minute

Must say I have guessed other posters before my info and the style they write in. That's why when I once changed my name for something v.personal I was very careful about the info I gave!
