since when was Miss England a fitness competition? I thought it was about good looks
she's certainly a great looking woman with brilliant skin tone and texture
can't see any unattractive flabby bits - just curves

OrmIrian · 03/04/2008 14:34

Oh no tortoiseshell. Not all women. Just the ones that actually exist in the real world.

tortoiseSHELL · 03/04/2008 14:35

Saggy Wag - a 'jelly belly'
What an old boot - kate Moss
Nigella's jumbo knees

tiredemma · 03/04/2008 14:36

I would like to see the state of the people writing this drivel.

Bluebutterfly · 03/04/2008 14:38

Daily Mail and Miss England competition. Isn't it an irony that the only people who could possible care who Miss England is, and whether she is fat or not, are DM readers.

I agree with whoever suggested that the terms "role-model" and "Miss England" should not be in the same sentence.

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2008 14:38

tha Daily Mail is just SHOCKING isn't it?
it is always so much worse than you think it is going to be

tortoiseSHELL · 03/04/2008 14:39

Never mind the 'our adopted daughter turned out to be evil' story...

Desiderata · 03/04/2008 14:40

Lol at all the typical Daily Hate Mail comments.

Come on ladies .. she is a bit of a lard arse for a seventeen year old girl!

Heated · 03/04/2008 14:41

I read the DM online but it's a filthy habit and I need to give it up. Perhaps I'll take up crack.

purplegiraffe · 03/04/2008 14:41

You can read the comments the DM don't show by pressing on "View All". Most of these comments are on the side of Chloe.

MoreSpamThanGlam · 03/04/2008 14:43

At 17 i think she looks too fat. 17 should be your primest, healthiest age, and tbh she does look overweight in a (horrid, ill fitting) bikini.

She looks beautiful though with her clothes on and if she is happy to be that size at that age then good luck to her, but she does not look a healthy weight.

I thi9nk the journo was venomous and uncalled for, in fact downright nasty. She could have worded that article in a kinder way.

I am a curvy woman but I have had 3 very large babies and 2 c-sections. I also eat more than I should and dont exercise enough. And i certainly wouldnt say i am a good role model weight wise for anyone.

madamez · 03/04/2008 14:44

The journo is an ignorant cow for all she calls herself a dietician. She mentions that Miss UK piled the weight on after dieting - the main reason most people put on wieght is dieting to be skinnier than they should be. yet Miss Dietician is too busy bitching to acknowledge that.
And it's perfectly possible to be a healthy size 16 if you are active - much healthier than a size 10 who lives on coffee and fags and never does any exercise beyound trying on jeans in Primark.

Bluebutterfly · 03/04/2008 14:44

I think that the DM's Ms Grenfell may have a personal interest in promoting the health and fitness industry anyway. Female insecurities about weight and fitness help her industry to survive. Sure, health and fitness are important, but I am deeply suspicious of "reporting" like this by someone with such an obvious self-interest...

here

sherby · 03/04/2008 14:44

tort, that story was awful

MoreSpamThanGlam · 03/04/2008 14:46

But i am also very hot

Niecie · 03/04/2008 14:49

I agree with you Morespam - I compared my thighs with hers earlier and from what I can see there isn't a lot of difference i size but I am obese, just, I am no longer a size 16 and I am not a good role model either.

I wish I still had her stomach though and not the extra saggy bit left behind by DS2 and his 9lb bulk!

Put it this way, if I had a 17 yo daughter that looked like that I would be a bit worred about her and I would be making sure that she was eating healthily and exercising to offset the effects of that extra weight or even reduce it!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/04/2008 14:50

I clicked on the 'Nigella's jumbo knees' link (as the Daily Mail knew I would). FFS! Do we all have to have lovely knees as well now? Liked this comment on the Mail website, though:
'I know it's 2008 and chivalry is dead; but this new vogue of photographing up the skirts of celebrity women is just plain tacky. Enough already!'

LaComtesse · 03/04/2008 14:50

I think she's quite brave tbh although I don't really rank her chances against the tide of twigs that will be competing from other countries. She is a bit overweight but not terribly so.

A lot of the snippy comments about her figure are probably from people who'd have to sneak in the fire door to stand a chance in a beauty pageant . Why does the film Miss Congenality come to mind here? .

Bluebutterfly · 03/04/2008 14:51

lol "Daily Hate Mail comments". Worthy of one of their very own headlines - do you work for them Desiderata?

But seriously, the DM is hardly a bastion of hard-hitting, intellectually thought provoking insights into the human condition, is it?

And actually I don't really care - big fan of freedom of speech and all that, except it does grate a bit that there are dedicated DM readers who don't actually know that about their rag of choice!

Yeah, so I am riding a wave of intellectually snobbery. Anyone want to join me?

I really think that she ought to ditch that bikini though. It looks tacky as well as not fitting her properly.

didoreth · 03/04/2008 14:54

With a BMI of just over 26, she is definitely not obese, she is slightly overweight. And as, looking at her picture, most of her extra fat stores are around her bottom and thighs, not on her abdomen, she is probably perfectly healthy, and not at increased risk of heart disease and diabetes. I think she looks lovely, and I'm sure most men would find her a lot more attractive than most skinny celebrities - and for sound evolutionary reasons, that is womanly fat, there to help sustain healthy pregnancies.

Desiderata · 03/04/2008 14:54

But what's wrong with bitching drivel? It's the only thing that makes life meaningful.

Desiderata · 03/04/2008 14:58

Who're you trying to convince, did?
