Are you going to vote for Boris Johnson? If so, WHY???????

scampadoodle · 26/03/2008 20:06

Because I know voting for Ken yet again is tantamount to inviting a benign dictatorship (wish Labour would field a different, viable candidate) but Boris Johnson ??? He is a buffoon with no relevant experience. At least Paddick has run a police force. (& no, editing the Spectator does NOT count).

But I am really really worried that he'll get in. Bye bye Oyster & cheap bus fares...

Why don't the tories parties put up proper candidates?

sagacious · 26/03/2008 20:13

But he's got lovely hair...

fryalot · 26/03/2008 20:14

no.

why?

because I live in Yorkshire

(although I wouldn't anyway)

sfxmum · 26/03/2008 20:15

no I am just not wired to vote for that lot

OverMyDeadBody · 26/03/2008 20:15

I would, he's funny.

MegBusset · 26/03/2008 20:15

Not a chance. I am disillusioned with Ken but to have the greatest city in the world represented by an upper-class twerp? It would be beyond embarrassing.

sagacious · 26/03/2008 20:18

He's very good on "Have I got news for you"

Carmenere · 26/03/2008 20:18

I most certainly am not going to vote for that over privileged twit. but I don't want to vote for Ken and dp used to work for Paddick and is not keen on him at all so I am in a quandry. I am going to have to vote for the greens, whosoever their candidate is.

scampadoodle · 26/03/2008 20:19

Exactly, Meg. Overmydeadbody: are you serious? Don't you think it's too powerful a post to give to someone because they're funny?!

I'll admit, I'm not a Tory voter but even if I were I don't think I'd be happy voting for him.

OP posts:
controlfreakyagain · 26/03/2008 20:19

never. he is a complete and utter arse.

lentengrrl · 26/03/2008 20:20

No I won't vote tory.

Although in a game of shag or die, I would shag bojo.

scampadoodle · 26/03/2008 20:22

I'm concerned that too many Labour voters are put off voting for Ken so won't vote at all & BJ (hah! just noticed the initials) will get in that way.

Message to those of you who are wavering:

GRIT YOUR TEETH AND VOTE FOR KEN!!

OP posts:
scampadoodle · 26/03/2008 20:23

lentengrrl have you seen BJ in RL? 'Cause if you had, you so wouldn't...

OP posts:
sagacious · 26/03/2008 20:24

Nooo grit your teeth and shag Boris

artichokes · 26/03/2008 20:24

No way. Nothing I have seen or heard from Boris convinces me that he has seriously thought about what London needs. His history of semi-racist and very classist gags horrifies me.

I have also met Boris a few times. This personal contact has only served to convince me that he is more arrogant and condescending than his media image suggests.

He has been an MP for years and has never done anything noteworthy. Nor has he ever been given any real positions of responsibility or power by his party or by the House of Commons. That is because none of them would trust him with that power or responsibility.

scampadoodle · 26/03/2008 20:26

Is this you gritting your teeth, Sagacious?

OP posts:
sagacious · 26/03/2008 20:28

I suspect it would take a few more bottles glasses of red...

pooka · 26/03/2008 20:30

No no no no no no no no no.
I cannot BEAR the idea that he might win. I will cry. I will sob.
I like London now. The idea of him being London's mayor, of people thinking he is in any way representative of the people of London? It's enough to make me want to curl up and weep.
A massive step backwards IMO.

lennygrrr · 26/03/2008 20:30

Come on, you'd NEVER shag Ken, would you?

No.

Altho, I realise it's not a basis for making an informed political decision.

But really, it's not that informed, is it? I'm just, well, I'm not voting Tory. X for Ken.

I agree with you smallwhitecat. I'd always vote for the posher person, think htey ar more likely to have similar views to me.

MegBusset · 26/03/2008 20:52

SWC, it's not his poshness per se that makes him a poor candidate. The point is that he has only got where he is today because of money, privilege and the old school tie. If he was posh and not a complete wazzock then it wouldn't be an issue. But do you seriously think that if he came from a working-class background he would have got where he has on talent alone?

OverMyDeadBody · 26/03/2008 20:55

He's actually quite intelligent too you know, he just puts on the bufoon act. Don't let that fool you.

There's nothing wrong with getting somewhere in life because of money, privalage and an old school tie anyway.

nancy75 · 26/03/2008 20:55

i have never voted tory, but boris is getting my vote because i hate ken, i hate his cronies, i hate the way that when he is questioned about anything he just takes the piss out of the person asking the question, im not too happy about his mates giving away money willy nilly that i have paid in council tax, i dont think journos should be compared to concentration camp guards and i dont bloody like NEWTS

pinkteddy · 26/03/2008 20:57

Agree completely with artichokes. He has had no experience of local government whatsoever and I am seriously concerned about the prospect of him getting into power. I really don't think he has any idea of what he is getting into. There is absolutely no way I would vote for him.

pinkteddy · 26/03/2008 20:59

Overmydeadbody you can't be serious!
