Anyone else totally PTSL at Hillary Clinton and her sniperfire fantasy?

Describing how she got off a plane under sniper fire and had to run for it - only to have the footage of the actual trip appear, showing no such thing and her hugging children!

I WET myself laughing!

But not so funny is her attitude that "Oh well. so what, I'm only human."

Only human? So what is that? It's ok to lie about this stuff? Or that we all forget that we have never been shot at?

Well, I stepped out of my house this morning and had to take a dive into my begonias when a volley of shots took me by surprise - my neighbour was taking pot shots at me from his shed. Oh no, wait a minute, I forgot. That never happened.

I can't imagine how bad someone must be to think that they'll get away with that - she must have known there'd be footage around, is she THAT far removed from reality - or thinks she's untouchable? And if she'll tell such stupid lies now, what the hell will she do if she gets elected?

now now Dittany. If you are going to get all emotional about it, the we can't really have a grown up debate.

Just out of curiosity, are you an American citizen?

ruty · 27/03/2008 19:19

i agree with dittany about the smear campaigns.

moondog · 27/03/2008 19:23

I can't muster up any enthusiasm for a woman who says sahe is up for the job because she was the wife of the guy who once held the reins.

What is this, 1854?

I love Obama. I love the way he didn't turn his back on his minister.Even if he is a shit (and agree with Expat, they are all suspect) it would speak volumes to have a black man in power who is not part of some fecking dynasty and feels a sense of entitlement.

Right, so you won't be voting then. Pity.

If this was about me (a Republican) trying to smear a Democrat, I wouldn't be saying nice things about Obama. He is just as liberal as she is. I am no supporter of socialised medicine and I don't think we should pull out of Iraq now. But, I can respect him. That's all. He is at least a good citizen. And I think he'll probably win. I personally would prefer to see McCain win. But, I think Obama will beat him.

Although if Hillary beats Obama, then I thinkMCCain has a chance. But I'm too scared of Hillary to be comfortable with that strategy.

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 20:02

'I'm not a US citizen but I seem to know a lot more about this than some of you. I just checked '

Gotta love that Google, eh?

For the thousandth time, I am not a Republican.

I have NEVER voted Republican and I've been voting for 18 years now. My family are all Republican. I am not.

I still think both Hillary and Clinton are slicker than slugs, and whilst I can respect Hillary more than Bill - I think she's far cleverer than he could ever hope to be, and I'd venture he'd agree with that - I cannot see where my dislike of them and their policies makes me a part of a Republican smear conspiracy.

Seeing as I don't vote Republican.

I prefer Obama myself.

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 20:04

Athene, make sure your absentee vote is in place. Last time, my ballot was lost in the post. Thankfully, there was time to order another one.

To any US citizens out there: rock the vote! Let your voice be heard!

Oh, so now I am a misogynist because I dislike Hillary Clinton and her politics.

Okay.

'I hear USers aren't too keen on that kind of talk.'

So I take it you are perfectly okay with people calling for the downfall of the UK and 'goddamn Britain' and the like?

Mkay.

Btw, there is no such thing as 'USers' anymore than there are 'Britishers'.

No, dittany, you said: 'the attacks on Clinton are about misogyny not smearing democrats.'

Implying that 'Clinton haters' are misogynists.

You've implied that anyone who doesn't support Hillary Clinton is part of smear campaign, a misogynist, an uneducated fool or all three.

You've personally attacked two posters on this board and ignored others who expressed similar opinions.

As for ill-informed, you're relying on internet media sources as truth, and for something it can never give you - the actual feeling and sentiment in the nation in the run up to these elections, the emotions that guide peoples' votes.

Republicans don't agree with either Obama or Clinton because they do not agree with their policies.

Somebody's been watching too many Hollywood films and XFiles and assumes the entire government is one great big conspiracy.

Talk about ill-informed . . .

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 20:24

I was one of those with a flag in front of my house.

And you didn't answer my question, you're okay with British versions of Pastor Wright then??

Nearly every post of yours has insinuated conspiracies, smear campaigns or revenge agendas some 35 years old. It's bizzare, IMO.

You continue to treat anyone who dislikes Hillary Clinton as a philistine or worse.

It's almost like it's a personal affront to you.

expatinscotland · 27/03/2008 20:38

you don't really care about whom?

you know what, nevermind.

BoysOnToast · 27/03/2008 21:58

to be fair expat, i think what dittany was implying is more that the 'clinton haters' have been sucked in by a smear campaign, rather than them all being a part of such a campaign.

fwiw - as far as i can tell, what she said about landing under fire of snipers was something of an exagerration - but not actually a lie. she allowed it to be imagined that the situation was worse than it was... somewhat foolishly it would seem, given that the whole thing was filmed and televised on the news at the time.

american politics seems to be total madness to me. bizarre focusing on weird details... spose not unlike ours then, but more so, somehow. not that i am well informed at all... just an impression.

AtheneNoctua · 31/03/2008 11:49

Regarding the conspiracy theory accusations, I'd say Dittany is suffering from a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm not a victim of a smear campaign. I am of sound mind and I hate Hilary Clinton because of things has in fact done -- and not merely been accused of by some ficticious smear campaign.
