Anyone else totally PTSL at Hillary Clinton and her sniperfire fantasy?

Describing how she got off a plane under sniper fire and had to run for it - only to have the footage of the actual trip appear, showing no such thing and her hugging children!

I WET myself laughing!

But not so funny is her attitude that "Oh well. so what, I'm only human."

Only human? So what is that? It's ok to lie about this stuff? Or that we all forget that we have never been shot at?

Well, I stepped out of my house this morning and had to take a dive into my begonias when a volley of shots took me by surprise - my neighbour was taking pot shots at me from his shed. Oh no, wait a minute, I forgot. That never happened.

I can't imagine how bad someone must be to think that they'll get away with that - she must have known there'd be footage around, is she THAT far removed from reality - or thinks she's untouchable? And if she'll tell such stupid lies now, what the hell will she do if she gets elected?

i heard this on the news

typical, self-aggrandising politician

JingleyJen · 26/03/2008 14:16

Yup, there was a long list of other things she is said to have done, like physically open the barbwire on the macedonian boarder to let refugees flee for their lives...

ruty · 26/03/2008 15:06

I am gutted and very disappointed in her and angry. I was kind of gunning for Obama anyway, but after her husband was nearly impeached for lying, you'd think that would be the last thing she would do in her campaign. What shocking complacency. She should step down from the race now to give the Democrats a chance. Like her husband, so full of potential and possibilities to change America, and then flushing it all down the pan with her own arrogance and ego.

theBOD · 26/03/2008 15:20

are you saying bill clinton flushed it all down the pan aswell and didn't change america due to his ego?or are you saying she had the potential to change america in the same way as bill but she has flushed it down the pan so won't get the chance to change america.
sorry i'm confused by your wording.
oh and also what was she thinking, how did she think people would buy it?

expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 15:21

face it, folks, they ALL lie, every one of these politicians.

ruty · 26/03/2008 15:23

I think Bill Clinton had the potential to do so much more and blew it [for want of a better word] yes. And she's done the same thing.

Bridie3 · 26/03/2008 15:26

She was SO busy when Bill was in power, wasn't she? Solving Northern Ireland by hugging gunmen, etc.

Callisto · 26/03/2008 15:27

Agree Ruty, about BC. What an idiot. Also agree with Expat that all politicians are lying nobboids. It's a prerequisite of the job nowadays isn't it?

AtheneNoctua · 26/03/2008 15:35

So, you guys are gutted and surprised that the Clintons are liars?

If you are liberally minded (which I am not) campaign / vote for Obama. His views are very similar to Hillary's, but at least he is a man we can respect.

theBOD · 26/03/2008 15:40

didn't bill clinton preside over the greatest period of economic growth in the u.s. for over half a century? that's pretty special imo. i thought he did great work.

theBOD · 26/03/2008 15:42

also as for the whole lewinsky thing and the lies he told over that. he was caught doing the dirty on his wife and tried to lie to cover it up, should never have been a political issue.it was more like something between ashley cole and tweedy from a heat magazine. not saying he was right but i fail to see how it would impact on his ability to run the country.

expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 15:44

you do realise that presidents/PMs are not personally responsible for periods of economic growth right?

he lied in court.

yes, i voted for him.

but he lied in court and i simply cannot respect a person who does that.

that's all we have as a country, as America, the framework developed by people over the years that is our Constitution and our courts - framework that people paid a very high price for, their lives, even. and continue to do so.

to disrespect that is just beyond reprehensible.

theBOD · 26/03/2008 15:49

of course i realise they are not solely responsible for economic growth. but they are the leader of the govt/state so play a large part in it.

well, somewhat. the US has quite a dissemination of power because of the federal/state system.

and whilst things can and do affect the country as a whole, you will often have great regional differences.

that's fair enough.i would not profess to be an expert on american politics/economics (definitely my least favourite semester) and your explanation makes sense that due to the size of the country compared to over here it would be largely delegated to regional leaders.

expatinscotland · 26/03/2008 16:15

for example, some regions are having somewhat of a recession just now.

others are not and/or rebounding.

AtheneNoctua · 26/03/2008 16:47

When did youtube become accepted as a credible news source. This baffles me. A guy I work with was giving evidence the other day of a completely unrelated debate and pointed me to youtube... I promptly laughed at him.

The Clinton are fantastic liars. There are soooo many accounts. It didn't begin or end with Monica Lewinsky.

I don't like Obama's politics any more than the Clintons. But, I can stand up and call him President without cringing.

My vote is for McCain without a doubt. And, ironocally, a lot of Republican want to see Hillary beat Obama because she is seen as a safe win for McCain. But, I think that is a very risky strategy. I'd rather hand the white house to Obama than live in fear of that horrid woman getting in.

Wonder what goodies she'd like to take with her this time?

ruty · 26/03/2008 16:53

Yes dittany, I did think that, that had exaggerated a bit without entirely meaning too - I'm sure they were briefed about sniper fire, etc, I'm sure they were uncomfortable, I'm sure the greeting ceremony played endlessly on Youtube was actually very brief and they were urged to get to the car. But she has to be so careful. And she has not come back and explained herself well, she has stuttered and looked embarrassed and guilty. She can't afford to fck up like that [as well as other dubious claims about N.Ireland and stuff]
I loved Bill clinton, I thought he was great for America. But he did f
ck up spectacularly by lying in court. It was a terrible waste of a great talent, IMO.

ruty · 26/03/2008 16:54

and her daughter was there, would she really have taken her daughter with her if there had been a real risk of sniper fire?

I am most certainly not sexist and I hate her with every fibre of my being. And I can prove I'm not sexist, because I hate Bill the same amount.

They are partners in crime and I don't ant them anywhere near the white house ever again.

On political grounds, Obama is not really my style. But, I can still honor and respect the man. In fact, there is one thing that I think he brings to the table that neither Hillary nor McCain can. And that is that he will not be seen in the middle east as yet another Christian Western Bully. I think Obama can appeal to our PR problems in the middle ease in a way neither of the others can, and that would be a good thing. Certainly, the US has an image problem around the world. Everyone hates us. And Obama is probably best qualifies to smooth some ruffled feathers.
