thanks everyone..........its now nearly 1 am here again we haven't had much sleep these last few days. the international school where I work has turned into a sort of refugee centre so we have 300+ tourists who have either been evacuated from hotels or discharged from hospital staying with us in the boarding houses.
as for my friends, some good news - one friend in hospital OK but has had two operations on her foot (not sure what happened to it). Her Thai boyfriend also alive though he is fairly ill...under close observation. Her mum and brother are also safe, one with broken leg and the brother's girlfriend is in a hospital here in PHuket, safe. However my friends Dad, sister and older brother are still missing so we are still checking all the lists frequently.
There has been another quake in the Andaman islands within the last couple of hours, not sure of any effects of that. I am inland in phuket and i think it wil lbe a long time before i go near the beach. there have been 27 afterschocks so far. we felt another tremor a few hours ago.
My friends boyfriend was a hero - he pulled lots of people out of the rubble and out of submerged bungalows (their resort was completely deluged with water). I just hope he will be OK - he is such a lovely guy.
Some other friends were up in Khao Lak on the mainland and they ended up helping out in hospitals there and in Phang nga all night and most of today. The stories they have told about what they saw are horrendous.
thanks for all your good wishes, it does help. fingers crossed please for the last 3 member of my friends family.
sorry for the typos am exhausted and now finally going to sleep
