Mumsnet in the Times

Here's a nice article about Mumsnet - make way for the newbies.

And blimey don't Justine and Carrie have a lot of children?

I'm sorry, but this is like the end of a very drunken dinner party when everyone is arguing but no-one can quite remember what the argument is about.

Stop it, all of you.

It doesn't do any of you any justice, whether you were in the bloody article or not.

MN is a great place to be and the article was good publicity - and no doubt generated more revenue for MNHQ, which is what it was probably designed to do.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Oblomov · 16/03/2008 22:40

Blimey, what a thread.
Please could someone explain why Hunker can not return ?
And has someone cured Expats nose vomitting ? Hope she didn't get it on those lovely shoes - are they the ones you wore to Barcelona Expat ?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2008 22:41

And, I'm unclear as to how your stating that you wouldnt have chosen the same names, corresponds with your viewpoint on your thinking about two different lists.

Can you clarify? You have a list of elders, and a list of??????

BecauseImWoeufIt · 16/03/2008 22:41

Stop!

But to make it what I want aitch I'd limit it to no more than 100 posts a day (seriously - I used to log in when I had put dd to bed at 7 and be able to read every post by 8pm) I don't object at all to the very vast majority of posts (the fact I don't have time to read the vast majority of them is neither here nor there) and have fully accepted that the clock cannot be turned back.
Lapin - I think you would have liked it 4 years earlier as well. I don't want anyone in particular to bugger off, I just liked Mumsnet smaller. That's not a personal attack on anyone.

And just for the record I don't have a degree either. In fact dh and I were very amused the other day when we realised that our son (already down to follow dh to Harrow, not ever likely to be in finacial difficulties) could get preferential treatment when applying touni as neither dh or I managed to go.

hunker is being held hostage on flounce island by a strange alein lifefromthat hes performed rudimentary plastic srugery on her

until the skin on her thighs heals she is no one.

soapbox · 16/03/2008 22:41

List of elders and a list of regulars!

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 22:42

This is STILL going on? And people are upset?

Stop it Now.
(or carry on until Mad Men has stopped recording and I can watch it)

People picked are great MNers - not more great than others, but still great and nobody should be sad about.

We are all going to disagree about MN, that's what MN is all about.

I can't remember what I'm saying now. I've lost the thread - Boco will pick it up with her Banditos and Doritos.

Swedes · 16/03/2008 22:42

Giv them all some more port.

Boco · 16/03/2008 22:42

I bloody love your easter name bcosi'mweoufit, you bastud.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2008 22:43

Oblomov, because she can't login to Mumsnet. She hasn't de-registered.

GermaineSneer · 16/03/2008 22:43

why are oyu sendign a kid to harrow?

dragonbutter · 16/03/2008 22:43

scuse me. i posted on about page 2. what's been going on, why is everyone still here, what did i miss?

soapbox · 16/03/2008 22:43

And yes, that's right - I wouldn't have chosen the same list of regulars as CM did, but nevertheless had no issue with those she chose.

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 22:43
GermaineSneer · 16/03/2008 22:43

10 you knwo you can wathc WHILE it records on sky plus dont you>

hotcrossMonkeybun · 16/03/2008 22:44

Serious for once.

I read books I like. I find these out through practice. I know I'm gonna like Julian Barnes and Barbara Kingsolver and Ian McEwen. I know I'm going to hide Jilly Cooper in brown paper. I'm going to leave Richard Dawkins face up to make myself look clever. Mills and Boon and People's Friend don't, I'm afraid, get a look in.

Horses for courses.

I haven't whined why does nobody answer my posts, I've only been here since October. I might have joked about being a stalker. I was thrilled when Aitch called me a 'sparkling newbie'.

But I couldn't give a fuck if some people were on or off a journos list. No-one owns an online community; not the summarisers, nor the 'old-guard'. I read what I like. Some floats to the surface and I recognise it and know I'll like what they say. Some I'm just working out, and realising hhhm perhaps we're not on the same side after all. Some floats away like difficult to flush turds.

But this thread has been awful. I truly do not know (am too naive?) what agenda the bashers of those listed in the article are after. Some of us newbies just got over being out in the cold and just carried on posting. Old guard should too.

BecauseImWoeufIt · 16/03/2008 22:44

I've always loved you Boco, you're my best friend, do you love me too? I bet I love you more than you love me, do you love me?

PrincessPeaHead · 16/03/2008 22:44

Am I the only person who doesn't mind who was listed in the article?

Please tell me, I can't be arsed to read 900 posts...

GermaineSneer · 16/03/2008 22:44

did oyu kwno that 100?

and oyu can lsiten to ythe sogns on ituens beofre oyu buy?
( finbar dint knwo that)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 16/03/2008 22:45

picks at cheeseboard

JustineMumsnet · 16/03/2008 22:45

Oh dear. Am feeling very responsible that we didn't veto the list - or at least try to.

Now everyone's miserable. Those who were on, those who weren't and wanted to be, those who weren't and wanted others to be, those who weren't and wanted others not to be, those who were and then weren't, those who disagree with lists per se. Possibly the only folks who aren't cross are newbies or relative newbies (welcome by the way)

So all I can say is SORRY! I think I should have perhaps seen this coming and tried to stop it. Sorry to everyone who's feeling bad - it's not what we're here for as you know, it's all my fault and I'm very dumb.

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 22:45

LOL.

Can I?

Really?

Lololol. I didn't know that. You mean I can watch it from the beginning now while it's recording? How does that work then?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 16/03/2008 22:46

awwwwwwww

now THAT is sweet!!!!!
