VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 22:31

"V-v-v-qvite vot iss goingk on here, I do nottt know"

I'll be talking VBAC's so maybe I could V-v-vq-vbac instead?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 16/03/2008 22:32

caitlin needs to widen her journalistic gene pool and stop hanging about on takboards

Caz10 · 16/03/2008 22:32

surely the point is that it's just like RL - some people are more popular/known than others (deservedly so), some people are a bit besonkers and can't find anything nice to say?! i thought the article was really nice and couldn't give a toss who was chosen. Even if I had been posting here for a gazillion years and wasn't listed I still wouldn't care.
good on aitch and co for helping soooooo many people on here with their support. can't see why that's anything to be bitching about.

many thanks, caz and dior. i don't like being a fish (in a barrel) cod.

unknownrebelbang · 16/03/2008 22:35

Have to say I agree with Twiglett's original pov.

I think this thread kind of proves the point, tbh.

And, no I've not got sourgrapes, I'm virtually unknown (natch) on here, and 99% of posters have probably never registered my name iykwim.

Cam · 16/03/2008 22:35

You gotta larf

Boco · 16/03/2008 22:35

What exactly did Enid mean by her comment, why was she cringing?

welliemum · 16/03/2008 22:35

This is awful. Like a "who's your favourite mumsnetter" thread but a million times worse.

I hate this kind of divisive crap.

I think the list of posters idea was badly judged. A list of classic threads would have given a much better idea of the flavour. Too late now.

MN is different things to different people, why should anyone have a problem understanding that?

ah oyu gotta be hard

Swedes · 16/03/2008 22:36

When I read the article in bed this morning my first thoughts were great for the mumsnet brand, bad for the mumnset community.

GermaineSneer · 16/03/2008 22:36

unknonwn WHO?
arfarf

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2008 22:36

Well, the "V"'s shouldnt really pronounced in the English sense. They should be pronounced in the Latin sense. That oughta help

Soapbox, Seems I can be arsed.

You said

"These 'elders' may not be the mosts regular or prolific posters, but when the chips are down and you need wise counsel, by God do you hope they turn up and post!

They keep this place the community that it is, not because they like a quick laugh here and there, but because they care about this place, the ethos of it, and the important resource that it provides. They are the continuum, if you like. Bridging the various generations of posters with good solid care and maintenance

So perhaps the elders too would like to take a bow "

This is a list you say is separate to those named. That they are the ones who make this a community, and not because they like a quick laugh here and there, but because they care. Therefore, I read that as you saying those actually listed CM werent like this. Maybe I have misinterpreted???

Boco · 16/03/2008 22:37

Yeah, the elders comments are kind of saying it's all about quality over quantity, the oldies dont' need to actually post much, because when they do, it's liquid gold, whereas if you joined post 06, you're just in it for the cheap gags.

Actually, I probably am too fond of the cheap gags.

Caz10 · 16/03/2008 22:37

i wonder if CM is now

  • wishing she hadn't listed posters and feeling bad
  • glad she listed them and laughing at this thread
  • completely oblivious?
blueshoes · 16/03/2008 22:37

let's not forget Xenia, a relative newbie ...

GermaineSneer · 16/03/2008 22:37

WHO CARES ITS ONLY AN ARTICLE

emkana · 16/03/2008 22:38
VictorianSqualor · 16/03/2008 22:38

The latin sense
Can I just do a desi and say "They're all a bunch of cunts"?

PussinFabergeEggs · 16/03/2008 22:38

Who cares about a list that some journalist put together? Its just one person's opinion. The whole reason for mnet is that we support each other through the more difficult aspects of parenthood and rejoice in the good parts....not bitch about who is/isn't on a list!! Get over it already and stop upsetting the people who were mentioned - they do blardy good work on mnet (and I'm not arse licking!!)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 16/03/2008 22:38

and this whole site is a cyber reality

soapbox · 16/03/2008 22:39

LL - relatively new posters who post a lot and give good advice and (like you, Hunker and Aitch) were on the list of regular posters.

The point of the elders was to list those people who had delivered years of similar good advice, even if they are not longer as regular posters as they once were.

The lists are two separate lists, as I made clear in my first post on this thread.
