Hello all, I read that Times article and came to have a look at you! One thing I've been wondering, is why mumsnet gets so much publicity compared to the other baby/pregnancy boards? (Won't mention them in case it's not allowed).

Is it because lots of you are media types?

I look forward to having a look round and trying to get to grips with this layout!

Rachel

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2008 20:35

No, really not OO!

You are welcome MP I was in absolute awe of you in the era of your "Rockets to Lebanon" phase So much so, that I changed my name in appreciation (and got told off ).

Yes, I am on your MSN....why do you never talk to me anymore

Oliveoil · 16/03/2008 20:35

okeydokey

have to sort dd2 out first then cheese then read this

I hope nobody is being mean

Kindersurpise · 16/03/2008 20:35

I liked the article and have no problem with a few regulars being mentioned. The posters chosen are ones that I might have, if I had been asked. Lulumama and Custardo are two others, and there are loads more.

Some posters stand out because they are particularly witty/wise/caring/insightful. Some stick in my mind because for other (negative) reasons.

As a relative newbie, I do pay more attention to some posters than others, but it does not affect what I post.

CM painted a very realistic picture of what MN is like. I loved that fact that I got the jokes, and the reference to Bummy Mummies.

katierocket · 16/03/2008 20:36

I have an uber efficient spam filter thing and I admit that you did go into it but I took you out. Because it only takes 2 secs to read and it really does make me laugh.

(I'll stop now or you might have a head the size of frank sidebottom)

themildmanneredbunny · 16/03/2008 20:36

no it's because we are the best.

we don't call each other hun and we don't have tickers after our names saying '3 weeks, 7 days and 12 hours since i last had a poo'

we are allowed to swear and we are funny.

katierocket · 16/03/2008 20:37

FlightyRachel, it gets publicity because it's good, that's it really.

Cam · 16/03/2008 20:38

Is that you Rachelmumsnet

VeniVidiVickiQV · 16/03/2008 20:38

What's the problem WWW? We dont share a taste in subjects. Hence an op you'd make wouldnt be something I'd want to look at - same way, like you said - you dont come across Hunker and Aitch.

Not sure why you are offended? Seems we are able to talk about the need for lists - or not as the case may be.

Folk are allowed to say who they think should be on those lists. Fine.

Folk are allowed to say that posters ON the list arent ones on their radar. Fine.

And no offence is meant, and it's not personal?

But, the same cant be reciprocated? I dont get what your problem is, really.

katierocket · 16/03/2008 20:38

LOL cam

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2008 20:38

I think posting pretty much every day since 2002 makes me a regular. Blimey, if that's not, lord knows what is. Although damn paid work has got in the way of late, so irritating.

but hey, I don't care about this enough to waste my Sunday evening on it

SheikYerboutisEggHunt · 16/03/2008 20:39

Oooh, WT, you really are my kindres spirit, as I too am a leybaord shortcut geek

DOes anyone want to buy a little used Phi & Teds with doubles kit? [grun]

Cat me huns.

Ledodgy · 16/03/2008 20:39

Hi Rachel, Welocme to MN there are a few media types on here but not loads, there is a huge mixture of people which leads to many healthy debates. I think we get alot of media attention because we are the largest parenting website and we're all fab.

morningpaper · 16/03/2008 20:40

Awww VV you are LOVELY

I don't talk to anyone on MN any more because my computer is so ancient it can't load it anymore BUT I have a brand new Dell coming next week so I will be able to talk to you again, and MAYBE even have Word AND Excel open at the same time!

Have you SEEN the other parenting boards FlightyRachel? It is like finding yourself in Disneyland with a hangover.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 16/03/2008 20:41

and they don't let you get real on other boards.

because the truth sometimes hurts.

SheikYerboutisEggHunt · 16/03/2008 20:41

Well, my lits would be

WanderingTrolley
WanderingTrolley
WanderingTrolley and
WanderingTrolley

TheHonEnid · 16/03/2008 20:42

vvvq thats quite a rotten thing to say tbh - about wwws threads - fair enough you wouldn't be interested (even though she's had a lot of shit to cope with recently) but you don't have to actually say that do you?

hotcrossMonkeybun · 16/03/2008 20:42

apparently we are only allowed to swear in certain places. Bunch of cunts who think that.

WT and now Sheiky, or even technogeeks like LL. I REALLY want to do the shortcuts, where do I look on my own?
