And blimey don't Justine and Carrie have a lot of children?

There does seem to be an unusual meanness of spirit on this thread
Aitch please don't be upset. I think you (and the others) are great and am delighted to be a fellow member of mn with you.

Tamum · 16/03/2008 20:09

Aitch, I don't see you as liking a ruck at all, FWIW, just as someone willing to stand up for what's right even though you clearly don't like getting into fights. I thought the descriptions were quite wide of the mark in a few cases, but I agree that I think this is all being over-analysed really.

WanderingTrolley · 16/03/2008 20:09

lol LL about the roundup.

Chin up for tomorrow. Hope ds has a fine ole time.

Aitch it took every last wobbling pound of me not to type WRITE YOUR OWN FUCKING ARTICLE THEN FFS.

Oh...er...I seem to have...um...

(someone please laugh at my royalties gag. I'm quite needy - I'll even put do this so you can c&p: har har har WT that was dull hilarious)

no no rabbit, it's fine. it was obviously going to be used the minute it was said, it's a good line so i don't mind on that score, iykwim?

it's just what MP said, they're caricatures, showing a spread of archetypes. cod's never a feminist, probably a sub thought they needed a feminist so stuck it in.

MP doesn't set the tone for MN and didn't come up with the word fanjo but it reads nicely and is neat for a 50-worder etc etc. Hunker's relationship with Nestle is more complex than being against it and you're no innocent and Justine doesn't remember saying that. this is what happens when you speak to journalists, things are distilled into their simplest form, sometimes beyond recognition. which is fine, really.
i don't suppose i realised that people on MN expected newspapers to be completely accurate, a wide-eyed and trusting approach to the media is one i've never encountered on here. quite the opposite, in fact. anyway i really am goiing now, i've got work to do, twisting people's words and that.

hotcrossMonkeybun · 16/03/2008 20:16

I was gonna laugh WT, in fact I even typed ho ho ho and then tried to do '' but your instructions failed me. Are you on a Mac?

In need of typing/humour lessons...

Swedes · 16/03/2008 20:16

littlelapin - where did that come from?
Good luck with your little boy's first day at nursery, I hope he has fun.

TheHonEnid · 16/03/2008 20:16

what so they just write a load of old bolleaux then?

oh. right.

expatinscotland · 16/03/2008 20:17

can someone help me stop vomitting before dinner?

WanderingTrolley · 16/03/2008 20:17

I think the ruck comment was qualified as a joke with the description of lapin, especially with Justine's comment on her sense of humour.

Just be glad it wasn't cod - you would be listed in The Times as someone 'alwas up of ar fuck'

Aitch · 16/03/2008 20:18

oh, thanks tamum and carm and lol at your wobbling pounds WT. much appreciated, tbh.

Cam · 16/03/2008 20:18

Don't worry Swedes, I knew what you meant, there's some oversensitivity on this thread

TheHonEnid · 16/03/2008 20:19

lol expat

messagedeleted · 16/03/2008 20:20

i htink i want to be a feminist now
i am going to millicent codhurst

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2008 20:20

I also think you don't have to work in the media or married to someone working in the media to understand perfectly well how it works. It's patronising imo to suggest that this is the case - disagreeing with some stuff here or having an opinion about it doesn't mean you don't understand perfectly well how it works.

and I doubt VERY much that a sub decided to refer to cod as a feminist, I think CM did.
Which goes to show that her definition of feminism and mine differ somewhat.

Ledodgy · 16/03/2008 20:23

Well I am livid.....

That Soupy the bat never got a mention!

expatinscotland · 16/03/2008 20:23

I'm not offended!

I'm peeved that this is my last night away and I'm in this hotel room because I need to be near a toilet, folks.

The hurling just started a few days ago.

I can't sniff my fav perfumes anymore, or my fav beauty products, I can't drink wine because the thought makes me nauseous, I can't nibble tapas because I know I'm going to boak them about half an hour later.

So stop being offended, folks.

It could be worse.

You could be puking through your nostrils, too.
