Mumsnet in the Times

Here's a nice article about Mumsnet - make way for the newbies.

And blimey don't Justine and Carrie have a lot of children?

we reached the tipping point with mothercare-gate

ahundredtimes · 16/03/2008 19:09

Oh it was fine that they were mentioned - I'm not sure why everyone is so put out about it. I'd be more put out if I was one of the Fab Four and had weird things written about me I think.

endi peanid

you were on my list.

Twiglett · 16/03/2008 19:18

do I have to repeat my POV again .. or is that just redundantly circular

This thread feels rather like an M.C. Escher picture now

Twiglett · 16/03/2008 19:19

who was it who did the lego pics? was that soupy? lego escher LOL

MadameCh0let · 16/03/2008 19:19

That article is the reason I've found my way on to this board. Hello from Ireland
I'd heard about that lady who was found just in time. I had thought that was an urban myth..

VanillaPumpkin · 16/03/2008 19:28

Ooh that Lego makes me feel a bit queasy...

hotcrossMonkeybun · 16/03/2008 19:30

ooh WT, how do ya do the c thing, I need to steal it (tis what MN royalty are for after all)

Remotew · 16/03/2008 19:35

I've read the article and am not in the least bit bothered that it named a few posters. But I can see how a popular poster may be.

There are cliques on here and I avoid the 'who's your favourite mnetter' like the plague.

It's a shame LL feels uncomfortable now. Like in RL it will blow over and be forgotton about.

TheHonEnid · 16/03/2008 19:39

I'm not jealous or sour grapes etc etc

tbh would be horrified to be in the Times

I just think the list was unrepresentative and plain wrong

and odd as everyone has their own personal interpretation of mumsnet

to me its www, marina, cod, soupy, foxy etc etc

there you go.

For © - alt (hold it down) and 0169

It is for royalties, not royalty.

how can it be plain wrong, it's just some regular posters, that's all it says Mumsnet Regulars. not slebs, goddeses, elite, elders, nothing. just Regulars.

tbh i feel slightly queasy at being so easily identified as a regular becuase it probably means my life is going down the pan, i wonder about the fact that i've been identified as enjoying a ruck when i actually don't really, and i don't think i'm particularly acerbic.

tbh reading this thread i'm certainly feeling like a bit of a twat so am less inclined to be a regular on here. perhaps CM has just helped me out, who knows?

personally i read it and thought 'god, how lucky is MN, getting that sort of heaven-sent positive publicity by a much-admired journalist, and how nice is Justine's house?. (pretty sure it's Justine's as i think it looks the same as when she was on TV during the GF thing).

but i'm also tired of explaining how it is that things actually WORK in newspapers, as i imagine are the PRs and journos or wives of journos that i've seen talking sense on here.

can i refer you to WT's excellent suggestion that you all write your own article (presumably with your own lists?) and submit it to a publication of your choice? and then see what happens to it

because even if you've written the bloody thing you'll still have no control over what actually goes in the paper.

Swedes · 16/03/2008 19:58

100x - Presumably they asked you and you said - no way?

TheHonEnid · 16/03/2008 20:02

lol @ the concept that only journos or wives of journos understand how the meeja works

why lol, enid? the majority of the posters on here clearly don't have the faintest idea.

Aitch · 16/03/2008 20:05

and MP, she's the worst, she's in the papers all the time with her libelous comments and books and whatnot...
