Meghan keeps getting awards, while Kate doesn’t

Meghan just got yet another award, without much evidence how she does support and empower women and girls (I’m not saying she doesn’t , just she gets more publicity out of getting her awards than the actual work).
At the same time Kate evidently does a lot of support for a variety of charities, but no news of her collecting any awards for it.
Any thoughts?

I think the Princess of Wales has been taking the route that the Princess Royal always did, and that the Duchess of Edinburgh adopted for her rehabilitation

ie - work quietly with your charities for 5-10 years (doing what they want you to, trusting that they actually know what will work) whilst learning. Only then start to develop your own ideas. It's not a bad approach, especially when DC are small and you want to be present for them.

We're just beginning to see more stuff, like the research commissioned last week, that indicates they are beginning to do, rather than just showcase others.

What exactly would Kate get an award for? Smiling, waving and looking pretty? She could actually make a lot of difference in her position, but she has no voice and is as bland as a dead fish.

Yep

Unless the award is something like an Oscar or Emmy, people (like Harry and Meghan) make a massive donation to get their names put on the list of people to get the award. They do not EARN the award.

"Kate" (FFS her name is Catherine) has an award - her award is being the Princess of Wales.

Let's not forget future Queen. An "award" Meghan can never achieve. Must grate.

BarelyLiterate · 24/02/2024 00:22

Catherine doesn’t need tacky awards, because she’s going to be Queen.

Meghan needs all the tacky awards she can get, because she will always be trash. And she knows it.

You know people nominate themselves for awards, right? They do it for publicity and to get themselves more work.

I doubt Kate wants to or needs to nominate herself.

Absolutely this.

Meadowfinch · 24/02/2024 01:54

MM is a self publicist and attention seeking actress. Her income depends on being always in the public eye.

The Princess of Wales is the future queen of England. Why would she need awards?

There's no comparison.

mrsbyers · 24/02/2024 02:08

It’s like those award that chippies and curry houses get where they have to pay to attend the event - utter nonsense

caringcarer · 24/02/2024 02:27

Porridgeislife · 18/05/2023 20:05

Rewards aren’t randomly awarded. Quite often a rather large payment is made to the charity/other organisation in exchange for the award. It’s just PR.

This.

shearwater2 · 24/02/2024 02:27

What would Kate get an award for? Showing young women and girls you don't need to do fuck all with your life and bother about a career if you marry well? Slimmer of the year? How to grit your teeth and smile convincingly?

This thread started last year, why was it necessary to resurrect it? This is literally the second one today.

How on a majority female site is it acceptable to continuously target one woman? It is already abundantly clear that a lot of people do not like this person who they have never met. At some point in the obsession needs to stop.

Jokingnotjoking · 24/02/2024 08:04

I’d be more inclined to be impressed by Meg’s ‘awards’ had she not come over to little England to try and bagsy the award of a Prince - (any one will do). Wasn’t that recounted on an interview with some matchmaking glamourpuss celeb? Plus the awards system is bollocks. Nominations and donations, sounds corrupt.

Oh God most sensible comment on this thread!

Wizzadorra70 · 24/02/2024 09:02

Kate has no need to buy token word salad awards and be seen on red carpets accepting them.

Kate quietly supports her husband, the future King. She knows and accepts her place with confidence and grace.

I have no words for the Montecito duo that won't get me banned.

ItsAllAboutTheDosh · 24/02/2024 14:02

This thread is hilarious. Royal Family members do not need awards, except all the medals they are given by other family members.
Remind me what heroic acts or even active service Edward has seen to deserve his medals?

Kate gives out awards. She is in a different league.

Yes, this.
😂

Overtheatlantic · 24/02/2024 14:17

Where is Kate these days? Even the DM is asking (finally)!

TheSnowyOwl · 24/02/2024 14:18

BDutton · 18/05/2023 20:24

Ok, agreed.
If I need to paraphrase the question, do you think MM nominates herself / people close to her nominate her for these awards for publicity?

Yes, I do. However, I also think that it’s perfectly normal in many places to do so and shouldn’t be taken as anything derogatory. Does she deserve the award? Does she deserve the award over others? They are the more important questions.

Exactly. They have very different lives.

Elephantswillnever · 24/02/2024 14:19

I think if you are a working member of the royal family tradition dictates you give awards not get them 😉

WishIMite · 24/02/2024 14:19

ManonDe · 18/05/2023 20:07

I'd like to see some evidence about what MM does to get her awards. A bit of talking and paying lipservice to things does not quite hit the mark for me.

Thinking of my BFF who has worked for mroe than 20 years in supporting female victims of racism and victorms of trafficking for sex throuhgout the globe including living in refugee camps - along with may colleagues- and who gets nothing but a 30 k salary and no awards not even the odd MBE here or there. While the self promoters simper and put things on their cvs.

You know you can put her forward for an OBE? Have you done that?

Hopefully, by the time she is likely to become queen, we are going to be done with the monarchy nonsense.

Why does this bother you? Why do you feel the need to post such things?
Do you know Kate personally?
Perhaps... you need to focus on your own life.... this is in my opinion pathetic!
