BBC News - Nicola Bulley: Partner describes perpetual hell over missing mum
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-64450243

Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

She could be in the river. She might’ve reached to grab something for the dog and then slipped on the muddy bank. Or maybe the dog slipped its harness whilst it was off the lead. She could’ve ran after her dog.

If she was surprised by the fall and then shocked by the freezing cold water then of course she wouldn’t scream. She may have hit her head on a rock and lost consciousness. People drown in shallow water if they have passed out. The dog may have panicked at seeing their owner and that’s why it was distressed and running about.

Or she might have wanted to disappear and planned this. Some people hide their MH issues very well.

But even the family are confirming there has been no evidence of falling/ losing footing whatsoever.

BesidetheseasideXxx · 04/02/2023 11:22

I believe if she wanted to dissappear on purpose, she wouldn't have left her dog alone and out in the open but would have made her safe first.

I imagine that she let her dog off the lead/harness (which was normal for her as a dog owner) and sat on the bench for a while, listening in to her work meeting on mute with her phone on the bench next to her. Watching her dog run around. And then something happened so suddenly that she had no time to pick up her phone, log out the meeting and gather her dogs things. Maybe she shot up thinking the dog was in trouble, maybe something more sinister happened. There are factors which make drowning and abduction both unlikely (dry dog, cctv etc...) which is why this is such a mystery.

I understand the comments about why people shouldn't speculate but I am following this news story so intently because of how much of a mystery it is and I truly hope her family get some awnsers, whatever has happened to Nicola. I don't think it's right to accuse anyone specific without any evidence at all either.

The expert they had on sky seemed to be saying that if they’re using sonar they should have been able to see her in the water because you can cover long stretches with it. I was all convinced by the police until I saw that. He seemed to shed real doubt.

it took nine weeks for my friend’s relatives body to be found in a similar body of water. No idea if the police used sonar then or are using it now.

Eatentoomanyroses · 04/02/2023 11:30

@OntarioBagnet they said they were using sonar in the police conference

lalalalalaalalala · 04/02/2023 11:32

There doesn't have to be evidence of falling, especially if she was sliding/rolling down on her long jacket. It was probably a quick thing that only lasted a few seconds. Maybe she was unfortunate and hit her head on a stone in the water and passed out.

It's weird that the police haven't found her yet, but there's a possibility they simply overlooked her body.

Reminds me of a case (happened abroad, not in the UK) where a dead woman was found in a place that was meticulously searched by the police weeks before.

I don't envy the police divers, it's a job I would never be able to do.

User45378754 · 04/02/2023 11:56

Is this the timeline……

NB last seen 9:10
phone signal on bench at 9:20
walkers came across dog / phone / lead / harness at 9:30

When was the partner alerted and the police informed was that 10:50?

If so that’s nearly a 2hr window for someone to disappear or get her out of the area.

TheUsualChaos · 04/02/2023 12:17

There was a case of a guy drowning a couple years ago and it took 9 days to find him. People drown in rivers more often than we realised. It just doesn't usually make headline national news.

Allgoodthings1 · 04/02/2023 12:21

@lalalalalaalalala no I can’t think of anything worse, looking knowing you need to find someone in the water but actually finding them would be so horrific 😢 especially if you’re a diver and are actually under the water at the time. It was fishermen who found the man local to me eventually after 4 weeks. I think the police search must have be scaled back or called off by that point but they had already checked the whole length of river. He was at a bit where the river bends a lot. Just really hope they get her if she has sadly ended up in there.. not finding her is the only thing that could make the situation worse for her poor children ☹️

SecretPeston · 04/02/2023 12:22

Slipped and fell into the river, possibly into and under the mud Sad

Itsokay2020 · 04/02/2023 12:38

I am struggling to make sense of what has happened to NB, but she is from a thoroughly decent family and I honestly don’t think her DP is in any way involved. Instead, I think his low profile is so he can focus 100% on his girls.

The gilet she is wearing in Facebook photos is not ankle length - it’s knee length and is loose fitting so if she slipped isn’t the river she would be able to kick her legs, or draw her knees up to try and climb onto the river bank. Of course, she could own more than one gilet, but I’d be surprised.

If NB is in the river (which is hugely doubtful if they really have used sonar equipment), I suspect she suffered a head injury prior going into the water, rendering her unable to save herself. I just don’t believe she voluntarily disappeared. NB is a doting mother, involved in the community, volunteers at the church, comes from a loving and supportive family and I just don’t believe she has walked away, nor do I think this is accidental.

Just my opinion for what it’s worth, and I truly hope they find Nikki soon.

I've just returned from my normally quiet walk, which was drowned out by a police helicopter just circulating. Felt so eerie.
Literally so close to home and we can't do anything about it. 😔

I saw one too when I went to pick up my DS from piano practice Sad

coteliq · 04/02/2023 13:02

I kept looking at the river bank from the bench. It slides down then a steep edge. Perhaps she got to the edge, bended over for a look, then toppled over by something that hit her head, or even a gush of wind. That leaves no trace of falling or slipping.

I'm even imagining someone threw a ball from afar for their dog and it hit her accidentally. When they got to find the ball she was already weighed down under water. Very strange but it's a freak accident after all.

SantaOnFanta · 04/02/2023 13:09

I wonder if there were any dodgy characters staying at the nearby campsite? Is there CCTV there?

I'm puzzled about the dog... If she was kidnapped surely the dog would follow? If she fell in water, surely dog would follow?

The whole thing doesn't make sense.

Jewel1968 · 04/02/2023 13:16

Apparently she was wearing a fitbit. My activity tracker watch shows my location even if not near my phone. Do Fitbits do that or does it depend on model?

AmillionReasons · 04/02/2023 13:19

@User435787532 didn't they say they've checked surveillance/door cam footage on all of the possible exits? Was there one they hadn't and were appealing for dascam footage?

User45378754 · 04/02/2023 13:24

The police said that there is one exit without CCTV / locked gate and they are still seeking and working on dashcam footage for this exit.

If you look up reports of sexual assaults in this area - there have been numerous which are unresolved over the past year - specifically around Allotment Lane which leads onto the main Garstang Road and is the CCTV blind spot the police refer to.

RelativePitch · 04/02/2023 13:37

@SantaOnFanta the dog thing puzzles me too. Spaniels are water magnets at the best of times. Your owner goes in the water, as a spaniel you would absolutely follow. In terms of abduction...if a perpetrator kicks or hits a Spaniel, I don't think they'd follow. Generally not a guard dog. But it would be subdued and agitated. It's such a mystery. Poor family.

THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BY A FRIEND OF HER...

💔 Missing Nicola Bulley 💔

Please share

I want to start this post by thanking those who have shared and shared posts and who have been out looking and have created such a comfort to Nikki's family. Absolutely incredible!

However, I can't sit back anymore and not act with regards the hurt and distress that is being caused by some very inappropriate comments.

With regards to the interview...

Those who know Paul know that he is a very chilled out guy, spiritual, dotes on his family and honestly are used to his silly sense of humour, my husband especially who is best friends with him and has known him since birth. To watch him in that interview was devastating. We can see the hurt and pain and can see how much he's struggling to hold back the tears. He's is completely focusing on his girls because if he even stops to think about anything else, he will lose it and he doesn't want to worry his girls even more than they already are. He was terrified doing a live interview as I know I would be.

Although they did separate interviews, they are an incredibly close family, I don't actually know a family as close. So much so that Nikki's sister is pretty much living with Paul and the girls at the moment and the family are together daily

To cover some of the comments being made( with permission)

🟢Paul and Nikki both mostly work from home which is why he was at home that day. They have CCTV and there is a reason why Paul has never been a suspect. Family and friends need these accusations to stop immediately. The fact that I've had to write this is disgusting to be honest

🟢They both do this walk regularly and Paul is very well known in the community and very well recognised

🟢The dog never has her harness on for that walk, it's removed at the gate and then put back on at the gate when they leave

🟢They very rarely take the ball out for walks with willow now because she is very very protective over the ball and haven't done for a while

🟢Nikki quite often would put her phone on loud speaker when talking

🟢The dog was found very close to the bench and the harness. The harness was found on the floor not on the bench

🟢Nikki is an incredibly strong swimmer

🟢Nikki drove to the school and then left her car there and walked to the river

On a personal note, I have been shocked and appalled by the media's lies, misleading headlines, live streams of searches and reporting things completely out of context. Please be careful with what you read. Just because it's in the media doesn't mean it's true!!!!

What her family need right now is as much positivity as possible please 🙏

I hope this post helps with some of the questions/speculation

Please think before you type!

Thanks but do we know who Tilly Ann is?

Do they have any connection to the family?

I don’t disagree with the content / sentiment but don’t want to fall for some SM sharing scam either.
