Hoping the article in the DM is correct as he deserves to be cancelled!!!

OP posts:
ArseInTheDogBowl · 17/01/2023 12:59

He'll probably end up on Netflix, bedfellow with H&M? 🤷‍♀️

Kenwoodmixitup · 17/01/2023 12:59

I also feel extremely uncomfortable with the term cancelled; thoughts of baying crowds at the guillotine.

Certainly delighted that his audience base find his views and style unpalatable and so works offers reduced.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/01/2023 12:59

(Husband feels the same way, similar demographic. Clarkson’s claim that all people of his age share his disgusting view is clearly total bollocks.)

FeinCuroxiVooz · 17/01/2023 13:00

he's been a readily identifiable misogynistic arsehole for many years and if there was any expectation that we might be trying to build a just and equal society he would have zero public voice and be employed on a reeducational farm somewhere at least 50 miles from the nearest access to the internet, but I don't have any hope of that ever happening.

I find it objectionable that this outcry is only happening when he turns his vile misogyny on a member of the royal family (albeit a very minor and not universally popular one) - that very much is a slap in the face to his previous targets, underlining how unimportant they are. we already knew what he was like, this isn't news.

his so-called "apology" where he "explains" that his comments were intended as a reference to Game of Thrones totally demonstrated that he hasn't a clue how vile he is. we all recognised it as a reference to Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones is not, surprisingly, a model for how people should behave towards one another. His words would have been no less or more vile had he describes any other kind of humiliating public torture as a thing he would like to do to a fellow human being, but we already know that he doesn't quite have a fully functioning brain when it comes to recognising who is a fellow human being with inherent rights to dignity and respect.

mondaytosunday · 17/01/2023 13:01

I was wondering just what he was being. cancelled from! Didn't realise he did 'who wants...'.
The editors were idiots to let his article go to press, though they do pay him the be controversial.

Ariela · 17/01/2023 13:02

I'm surprised that his column was printed. Whoever authorised it must also be up for being cancelled.

HaddawayAndShite · 17/01/2023 13:02

otherwayup · 17/01/2023 12:22

Yep he does.

The inequality sickens me.
JC has been caught physically attacking someone, yet he continues to be loved by the press, career still going strong etc

Caroline Flack is accused of physical assault but not prosecuted and the press literally hound her and her career is destroyed.

Are you a women? I presume not but if you are, it's time to educate and empower yourself!

100%! Thank you for pointing out the inequalities.

Im glad JCs daughter seems to have more brains than he does.

Comedycook · 17/01/2023 13:03

He only managed in that nasty piece to mention women he hates...Rose West and Nicola Sturgeon as well as Meghan. How odd he didn't mention a male serial killer or a male politician or a male member of the royal family.

Vile.

dontpickupthemob · 17/01/2023 13:03

I actually quite like Jeremy Clarkson despite his outlandish views.

ShesFlirtyTurnedThirty · 17/01/2023 13:03

TinaYouFatLard · 17/01/2023 12:52

Better cancel Game of Thrones too then.

Do you have trouble understanding the difference between fiction and real life?

I say that as not a fan of game of thrones. But you must really struggle in life if you think things in films/tv shows are always ok in real life. 😬

Giggorata · 17/01/2023 13:11

Jeremy Clarkson is employed for being his boorish self, as it draws in readers or viewers. Some token cancellations will happen, some platitudes will be uttered and then there he will be as usual. He makes them money.
What can you expect from a pig but a grunt.

MrsSkylerWhite · 17/01/2023 13:18

Better cancel Game of Thrones too“

It’s fiction and that particular scene was used to demonstrate just how vile, twisted and frankly nuts the people doing it to the character were.

C1N1C · 17/01/2023 13:21

I'd bet any money if someone said Clarkson should be paraded through the streets naked while people throw rotten tomatoes at him, you wouldn't even hear a whisper, let alone an uproar like we've had here.

beeny · 17/01/2023 13:23

People who think he doesn't deserve to be cancelled, have clearly never been on the receiving end of any racism.

AutumnCrow · 17/01/2023 13:28

The Daily Mail is playing games now with its readers over the juxtaposition of their beloved Clarkson being potentially 'cancelled' because of Harry & Meg and Harry being drawn into a diplomatic row over the execution in Iran of the British-Iranian Alireza Akbari.

It's a dirty game and do you know what, Harry walked right into it (he'll never 'beat' the media; the media can bring down governments in this country) and Clarkson will survive if that's what the press decide.

The Daily Mail are probably loving this.

FindingMeno · 17/01/2023 13:29

Loathe him, so cancel away.

Foxywood · 17/01/2023 13:31

He didn’t even apologise to mm instead he said some half-arsed ‘sorry for the trouble he’s caused’

Divebar2021 · 17/01/2023 13:40

The whole modern concept of cancelling people who offend you is so ridiculous it makes me want to defend him even when I don’t agree with what he wrote. Why are you the arbitrator or what’s acceptable. I would suggest writing a letter of complaint, avoiding the publication, writing an article on support of MM or of course suing the publication. If we cancelled every person who went through life offending us who would we be left with? Boring asinine twats that’s who.

Justalittlebitduckling · 17/01/2023 14:05

You can’t just punch someone in the face at work. Wished the guy had pressed charges.

Myfabby · 17/01/2023 14:47

dontpickupthemob · 17/01/2023 13:03

I actually quite like Jeremy Clarkson despite his outlandish views.

outlandish?

He said a woman( lets pretend its not Meghan) should be stripped naked nd piled with poo.

It says a lot about Humanity that you 'actually' like him.

Diffuserqueen · 17/01/2023 14:54

Honestly I think he made an idiotic game of thrones reference not thinking people would really think he’d thought it up on his own and wanted it to happen. The Column was all hyperbole. He clearly doesn’t gnash his teeth about Meghan when he goes to bed.

on saying that though he made a grave error of judgement and it was bullying and unacceptable.

its not a race to the bottom but id cancel harry too , what he’s doing to his family is heinous.

Nogbreaks · 17/01/2023 14:54

’cancelled’ is totally over used. He’s not cancelled but given his vile misogyny, from the production companies POV, should he be hosting a prime time show like Millionnaire when his mere presence on it will make many people, women in particular, switch channel at the sight of him?
They spend a lot of money on that show -
which they won’t recoup if the presenter is making them lose viewers.
TV production companies aren’t charities, and making shows featuring unpopular presenters isn’t going to keep them afloat.

interesting that his ‘genuine’ apologies are only coming now,
when he’s realised how much his disgusting comments have really lost him.

Lampzade · 17/01/2023 14:58

I can’t bear him. No doubt he will end up somewhere else.

Thoroughly unpleasant man. Vile misogynist

AutumnCrow · 17/01/2023 15:01

Justalittlebitduckling · 17/01/2023 14:05

You can’t just punch someone in the face at work. Wished the guy had pressed charges.

The incident happened in England so the producer couldn't 'press charges' on his own - he'd have needed the support of the police and the CPS to get it to a criminal court hearing. He could have brought a civil case or a tribunal case but he apparently settled for £100,000 part of which I think Clarkson might have paid. I have no idea why the CPS didn't pursue it, unless the producer refused to be a witness or somesuch.

Anyway Clarkson was sacked and Hammond and May resigned. The 'Grand Tour' was born.

There was a previous story about Clarkson punching Piers Morgan but I don't know if that was a joke or not. I may be having sense of humour failure reading all the articles.

Nogbreaks · 17/01/2023 15:01

‘You can’t just punch someone in the face at work. Wished the guy had pressed charges.’

Wokeness gone mad!
in the old days stars could just punch staff in the face and they took it like a man, without crying to the boss about it and getting people fired. Next they’ll be saying middle aged blokes can’t party with underage ‘groupies’.
