A heartbreaking read. That man is just pure evil. He should never see the light of day again.

This is the most horrendous case I've heard of in a long time if not ever.

I remember screaming inside when it was first in the news but the details that have now come out are horrific beyond words. Why did that woman let this monster in her house! I know I'm
going to be flamed and it sounds like victim blaming but he wasn't a decent guy and it seems she knew that. He had previous convictions and was on/dealing drugs and she'd previously moved to get away from him.

I know the police take this stuff seriously nowadays, I work in this area, especially with children in the house. She had options. A safe house/refuge, especially as he was previously a violent offender if he wouldn't leave her alone. Why say to her friend she had 'good news' to tell them referring to her pregnancy by him? Obviously she wanted to be in the relationship, I'm so sorry she lost her life but she had a responsibility as their parent to make sure someone like this wasn't around her kids. He was arranging a drugs deal in her house the night he murdered them according to the news ffs!

The method of the murders is so horrific and I can't remember that being reported until today. At the time this was first reported, I couldn't understand how one of them didn't manage to get out of the house. Thought (hoping in a way) they may have been asleep but it seems they weren't, neighbours didn't hear anything either. I can only hope the children may have had headphones on/ been watching something loud or maybe were used to sounds like arguing/beatings which is even worse. I truly hope they weren't aware of what was happening to the others although the two girls must have been. John was found in the bathroom having gone to brush his teeth from reports.

He must have had a perversion for Lacey before this to do what he did when she lay dying.

I can't get over that Connie had asked her mum if she could sleepover for another night and that's why she was still there. Or that that monster sold that poor boy's Xbox afterwards.

I'm sorry but this monster will be looked after in prison, medical treatment, segregated and allowed to exercise, eat and breathe. They carve out a life of sorts. He should feel nothing but the primal fear of knowing he is going to die. That to me is the point of capital punishment. Not to deter (although that argument can't be evidenced), for abominations like this, it's the only 'just' thing that can happen to them. Monsters like this cannot be rehabilitated.

I cannot imagine how John and Lacey's Dad and Connie's parents have coped/are coping with this.

There was a post recently where the OP's partner had been in prison and had killed someone (apparently accidentally by drunk driving). She was asking if she should disclose this to her DC's friend's parents before inviting them round. So many posters were saying No, it was in the past etc. I can't imagine Connie's parents knew about the previous convictions this thing had.

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/12/2022 00:33

I agree with you AmazonianAvatar. Very sad that the mum has died but she also shouldn't have been having children to sleepover when her partner was a violent druggie. Poor kids.

RaggedBlousedPhilanthropist · 22/12/2022 09:20

I remember a supposed “Brexit Benefit” (I voted remain) being that we could now bring back the death penalty if we wanted to as a country (I’ve always been against).

Cases like this really do need it.

It should be something that we have as a punishment in law for the very rarest of awful cases.

Here he not only killed four people, three of which were children, but he also raped the 11 year old.

This man deserves to be put down.

I just can’t see it as a major breach of human rights in cases like this.

We need a referendum on it.

RaggedBlousedPhilanthropist · 22/12/2022 09:23

He probably won’t last long in prison anyway.

Killing is one thing.

Killing kids is another.

Raping one of them takes it to a whole new level.

He will end up being eaten.

toomuchlaundry · 22/12/2022 09:24

I hope he feels fear every day in prison

timtam23 · 22/12/2022 09:25

This case sounded terrible when it was first reported last year and the details from yesterday are even more horrendous. The poor families' victim impact statements, they all sounded utterly bereft and broken. It's so sad that Connie shouldn't even have been there, but she asked to stay an extra night with Lacey. What that man did was incomprehensible. Even if he did now choose to explain why he did what he did, there would still probably be no real answers, apart from him being a nasty angry violent drug addict. So sad for those who knew and loved Terri and the children.

Eightiesgirl · 22/12/2022 13:29

@AmazonianAvatar I agree completely with everything you have written.

JackieDaws · 22/12/2022 13:38

Look at you all posting pure cringe. It is victim blaming. And a couple of you aren't that far off from saying the mother deserved it.

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/12/2022 14:53

"Pure cringe" 🙄

toomuchlaundry · 22/12/2022 15:00

@JackieDaws I’m not saying the mother deserved it, but surely she had some responsibility for bringing that man into her children’s lives and putting another family’s child at risk too. If she had an out of control dog who attacked the children she would bear responsibility for that. He was a violent drug addict. Obviously she couldn’t foresee the awful events that happened but he should never have been in their lives

TinselSniffer · 22/12/2022 15:10

The mother was a victim but the children more so. They had no means to escape this scumbag, she did. She enabled him by allowing him into the lives of these innocent children. He had amply demonstrated exactly who he was.

Having witnessed domestic violence as a child myself I have no time for women who put their love lives before their children.

BorgQueen · 22/12/2022 15:14

Feet first into a wood chipper would be too kind for him.

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/12/2022 15:20

Exactly this. Personal experience (as a child) means I just can't help but feel anger when yet another child is killed by their mum's boyfriend.
I do have sympathy for the fact the mum has been murdered by a monster, but innocent children have been caught in the crossfire due to choices they had no say in. It's not victim blaming to say that.

No one is saying that. But people have to take some responsibility for their own safety and that of their kids.

For people who don’t believe in the death penalty… with this case are you sure?

Tax payers money is going to be spent on this true monster.

Yes , evil as this man is, if killing is wrong killing by the state is also wrong. A civilised society needs to act civilised even to those who may not deserve it, Besides i doubt his life in prison will be easy and its not necesarilly the case that having a death penalty is cheaper.

TofuonToast · 22/12/2022 15:28

Titsywoo · 21/12/2022 19:17

Child molesters and rapists aren't well tolerated by other prisoners so he'll likely get his just desserts. Horrendous excuse for a human.

He’ll probably id as a woman so no worries there.

Eightiesgirl · 22/12/2022 15:29

Of course the mother didn't deserve it, none of them deserved it. But, how could you move a known violent thug, who was wanted by the police when you first got together with him, into your home to live with your precious children? A monster who openly bragged to everyone about bashing a poor dogs head in with a brick. A monster who took delight in showing off his knuckle dusters. What kind of a woman is attracted to a man like that? What kind of a mother exposes her children to a man like that? A monster who smoked meth in front of you and had a drug habit you knew about and even helped fund by selling your belongings. A monster who kicked the door in and must have been very violent within the home. How could she plan to have a baby with and marry a monster like that. What kind of person was she that would be attracted to someone like that and even worse, let someone like that be around her children? Surely your instinct is to protect your children and keep scum like that well away from them, not move them in with you. I wonder how we'd be talking about her if she'd survived or been out when the attack happened and only the children had been killed? What hell did those poor children go through while that monster lived with them. I don't care what anyone says, he only lived with them and had access to them because the mother brought him into their lives. I hope he gets what he deserves in prison.

Yes I'm sure. A society is judged not by how it treats the best of people but how it treats the worst.

The priority is to make sure he can never hurt anyone again. And learning how to prevent this in future and actually doing something about it.

Vengeance won't bring them back - or stop the pain of those hurting.

tootiredtobother · 22/12/2022 15:34

place your bets as to when he will declare, he's actually a woman and gets moved to a womens prision. (on the advice of his legal team) money sucking B.......

Dogsogdog · 21/12/2022 15:48

Im not pro death penalty, but I could make exceptions for someone like that

Definitely. The evidence was clear and he confessed. Get rid of the waste of oxygen so we don't have to pay for his board and lodging for the rest of his life.

sanityisamyth · 22/12/2022 15:42

hattie43 · 21/12/2022 19:06

He should hang .

Absolutely.

lovemelovemesaythatyouloveme · 22/12/2022 15:42

It's not often I would say this, but I hope he gets the worst of the worst in prison.
I'm talking shit in his food, beatings, raped the bloody lot.
He deserves it all and so much more.

Zipps · 22/12/2022 16:00

Absolutely he should hang. I don't understand why women get involved with these sick monsters either, I'm afraid.
The fact that he had been bragging about killing a dog as well beggars belief. Allowing a violent, druggie, animal abuser into your DC's lives is abuse in itself.

PetraBP · 22/12/2022 16:01

My parents are old enough to remember when we had hanging here. They were teenagers when the last ones happened, so it isn’t that far removed from this country’s experiences.

It didn’t happen often though…only two or three a year as that was all that was needed.

In those days it tended to be people who killed during robberies, with guns or who killed police that got hanged.

Now I’d reserve it for serial killers, sex killers and people who kill children.

This monster is all three.

PetraBP · 22/12/2022 16:06

I don’t think we should be victim blaming though. Someone can appear to be an arse or a waster but that doesn’t mean she could have seen that he would turn into a
child raping serial killer.

The risk with whole life imprisonment is what if they change the law on human rights grounds and he gets out after 25 years or whatever?

If you hang/shoot/inject/electrocute him, he isn’t going to be able to rape any more children or murder any pregnant mothers.

I think I’m going to start a partition for a referendum to bring back the option of death punishment for serial killers, sex killers and killers of children.

Who’s with me?
