link here - I reckon this is Sky News jumping the gun a bit, but blimey!

Assuming it isn't murder (it can't be, he's a CBeebies presenter!), what a terrible thing to happen! (Well it's terrible if murder as well, but you know what I mean!)

Well, lots of people die and it's not necessarily a story. Certainly not national news. Whereas a TV presenter is news and presumably he's the better known one.

Tamum · 04/01/2008 10:47

I agree Blu. To be fair to Sky (can't believe I'm defending them) it must be relatively unusual for a partner to be arrested at the scene as opposed to being taken in for questioning, I'd have thought, so they must have some grounds. It sounds plausible that it was "just" for supplying drugs though.

Fimbo · 04/01/2008 13:25

My dd loves Mark.

Tortington · 04/01/2008 13:27

i love SMart

poor woman

saadia · 04/01/2008 13:29

Crikey, was he the one who always wore red in Smarteenies - ds1 was/is terrified of him and would always run and switch off the TV when he appeared. Hope it isn't murder, if he is innocent then how unprofessional and cruel of Skynews to report it this wasy.

MAMAZON · 04/01/2008 13:33

What a terrble article.

they have used a headline which suggests she was murdered and he is to blame.
when you actualy read fruther there is nothign suspicous at all and ehwas just bought in for questioning under caution.

that is plain wrong. such drivel has cost people their careers, and more importantly teh poor man must be devestated at his partners death. i doubt he wants to read he is to blame for her death.

ruty · 04/01/2008 13:34

yes Blu, and the lovely line about 'career being in decline'
Very sad.

ruty · 04/01/2008 13:34

about her career being in decline i mean.

Fimbo · 04/01/2008 13:38

I feel sorry for Kirstin O'Brien. She's bound to be questioned about what he is like by nosy parkers.

ruty · 04/01/2008 13:40

apparently repeat shows of Smarteenies have been cancelled. If the poor bloke is innocent his career is already suffering.

hermykne · 04/01/2008 13:42

class A drugs involved . hes supposed to have supplied. them.
no actual intent there to murder imo

ruty · 04/01/2008 13:47

oh dear.

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 13:51

So they were doing drugs? . Bang goes his career.

aelita · 04/01/2008 13:57

I see the Sky article has been amended to state that she was hit by a car some years back, was in a coma and subsequently was prone to fits. That would, I suppose, provide a logical explanation of why she may have died. Where did this idea of him supplying Class A drugs come from, or is that just pure Chinese Whispers?

Macdog · 04/01/2008 14:01

Latest Press association release

Didn't realise they were engaged.

tortoiseSHELL · 04/01/2008 14:18

Bang goes his career no matter what the ACTUAL story is. Very few people ride this sort of story out. Poor man, and poor woman.

OP posts:
twinklylights · 04/01/2008 14:18

This is all so sad. I saw them on a beach together in Dorset in the summer and they seemed very loved up.

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 14:40

Maybe she had a seizure? .

Moomin · 04/01/2008 17:16

Heard on the radio just now he's been arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying class A drugs but released on police bail (?) so all a bit confusing really. Oh dear

But tyere again, just because they're on CBeebies/CBBC doesn;t mean they live a hoiler then thou life does it (re the drugs implication)... Although I would never get over it if Sid or Chris were attached to a 'scandal'

Sorry, not meaning to be flippant when a young woman has died.

Nbg · 04/01/2008 17:20

I've just read that the statement said he has nothing to do with her death but he was questioned because of the circumstances of how she was found.

KashaSarrasin · 04/01/2008 17:24

The Guardian also saying he's been arrested on suspicion of murder and supplying class As.

How very sad, whatever the truth turns out to be

Spidermama · 04/01/2008 18:41

Quite like the Kevin Greening thing on the face of it. I wonder if there's a 'bad batch' of something going around.

Very sad. I really like him too. I would never have said he was in his 40s.

LIZS · 04/01/2008 18:47

Yet another tragic loss very sad. He has spent a long time developing his tv career (Scratchy and Co was some time back) yet , allegedly, was prepared to jeopardise it all, for what? At his age he hasn't even got the excuse of naivety Richard Bacon had when he was caught. It will have a ripple effect too.

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 18:58

So was it the Cocaine that killed her or was it something else? Anyone know?

Watters · 04/01/2008 19:01

A statement from a 'friend'says that she had been having seizures since being in a car crash which resulted in her going into a coma
