re last nights thread on 7yr olds tragic death

I'd rather not get into another debate on the new thread so have started this one.

So you can now see the emails that have passed between Carrie and I can you?? and our discussion of it?

I asked for my posts to be removed late last night, as I had (as per usual) expressed myself completely incompetently and p*ssed everyone else off with my opinions on the parent bashing that was occuring on that thread.

Carrie removed the personal attacks I had made to others (but left the ones made to me) and said it was up to me if I wanted the other posts deleted or not as (apparently) I made some valid points - think she was just trying to be nice there as no-one else could obviously see any of them.. I said I would rather they all went because of the way the thread had turned out. But this morning she said that she'd leave them as that particular thread appeared to have dropped out of Active Convo's and could be left to die it's natural death.

Added to the fact that I got up several times in the night, and found on another thread deliberate taking the p*ss out of me - and making wild accusations about the topic I "always" post on doesn't exactly fill me with seasonal good cheer.

What a very odd thread.

minorityrules "I have a genuine question

Why is ok to berate and judge some parents and not others? All the discussion about MM was quashed and people were told you musn't judge, why is this different, I really am confused "

minority - I had thought that too and would be interested in finding out why that is as well.

LadyMuck · 28/12/2007 14:24

The MM thing was squashed because it was done to death in just about every section of the media, not just on MN. It wasn't squashed after the first thread - there were just so many threads about it. And anyone who did have an opinion about it had ample opportunity to utter it.

Loads of threads daily judge parents for a whole host of relatively minor things - sausage rolls, fruit shoots, private schools. The world will be divided between those who read about this story and say "What an awful unforeseeable accident" and those who say "How could these parents have let their children do this". One group is likely to be smaller, but it is still a point of view.

Also, with MM we have no idea exactly what did happen, personally I doubt I would've left my children asleep somewhere and gone for dinner but it isn't necessarily as dangerous as letting them ride a quad on the road.

Thanks......just had a fun afternoon playing PS2 with DH and DS1 and 2......DH went to town this morning and bought another controller and one of those adapter things so that we could do 4 player - was loads of fun........but of course braking all MN protocols......DS's spent about 3hrs playing it (as did we )

Still not sure about posting on a lot of threads......feel that if "that" country/my experiences bear relevance to anything then my posts are just going to get ignored because I'll be "going on" about "that" country again......and as for threads which are totally unrelated and which I would mention nothing of "that" country - not sure I see the point as evidently my posts on those topics may as well be invisible......

Bloody hell, I don't go on MN for a few days and I miss some drama.
