Madeleine McCann

Instead of starting lots of new posts about Madeleine, could I politely request that anyone who wants to post on the subject please post on this one thread? (N.B. Duplicate threads may be flamed hysterically.)

Please note that this thread is not to criticise Madeleine's parents or family, as this is not in the spirit of Mumsnet.

Please can I take the liberty to quote from this article:

"This is the real life of Kate and Gerry McCann, and it must now have become a place of agony beyond all understanding. Pity them, if you have any compassion at all, and demonstrate the minimum of grace: the ability to desist from judgment."

without the media you wouldnt be able to raise a profile, so its accepted that is the way to keep going and not stopping in your quest...

HorribleHorace · 18/09/2007 21:51

well that's ok then

oliveoil · 18/09/2007 21:52

no I am generalising wildly

they know who they are

ELF1981 · 18/09/2007 21:56

I had no part with the picture looking thank you very much!

OO - I understand you despise threads on the McCann family - so why do you look?

Hulababy · 18/09/2007 21:58

The family will, sadly, never have a normal life again. Even if Madeliene is found safe and well their lives can never be tne same or normal again. If she remains lost, they will not be a normal family either - how could it with a vital part of the family missing?

Ben Needham's parents have never stopped looking and hoping.

utterMadness · 18/09/2007 21:59

here

' Former BBC reporter Clarence Mitchell has been appointed as the new spokesman for the parents of missing Madeleine McCann after
Justine McGuinness resigned'

Hulababy · 18/09/2007 21:59

Also taken no part in looking at pictures.

ELF1981 · 18/09/2007 21:59

Did Ben Needhams mother have any other children? Never read whether she did/didn't.

I don't despise the threads, I despise the "ooooh look at this man with an evil bald head and a shifty look, is it me or is he odd?" type crap

as you were, I am off to bed

kentgirl73 · 18/09/2007 22:01

she has a daughter - think a few years later

utterMadness · 18/09/2007 22:02

And I don't necessarily think it's signifficant, but people obviously seem to think the resignation of the Portuguese spokesman is, when it's probably no more signifficant than her's. Maybe he went for the same reasons, the stress of it all, there's only so long you can do a job like that surely.

And the picture gazers are all nutjobs.

Hulababy · 18/09/2007 22:04

Elf - not at the time I don't think. She does have another child now IIRR.

Accoring to the news reports (and who knows whether they are true or not!) Justine McGuinness resignation had nothing to do with the case developments.

Oliveoil you are so blinking rude. I hope you're not going to get sweary at everyone again.

ruty · 19/09/2007 08:46

oh yes because swearing is so much worse than endlessly speculating about a lost child and if the parents killed her, as if it were an episode of EastEnders.

Kewcumber · 19/09/2007 10:05

Jennifer8 "blking" is a bit strong isn't it? You don't have to use that kind of language you know, your sentance would have worked quite well without it.

totaleclipse · 19/09/2007 10:05

According to some newspapers, the portuguese police have arrived in Britain to re-interview Kate and Gerry, and some of the other group they were on hol with.

Kewcumber · 19/09/2007 10:10

no they are giving a list of questions to British police to ask.

totaleclipse · 19/09/2007 10:14

bloody newspapers.

oliveoil · 19/09/2007 10:15

ha, no way was I rude

I can be rude if you want though?
