beansprout - do you have a problem with me?

I haven't attacked you personally to my recollection.

NKF · 08/09/2007 16:41

Nobody has been charged. Nobody has been charged. There is no need to develop theories of how people might have done it and for other people to defind them. Nobody has been charged. Have I said that already?

I suppose it was inevitable that the McCanns would now face the backlash of the century but it's not pretty. It's just as gruesome as all that hysterical so-called empathy that went on when teh child first went missing.

PSCMUM · 08/09/2007 16:42

STOP EVERYTHING!!

Dellgirl knows 3 children who have been killed by their parents. Conclusive evidence that precisley the same has happened here. Case closed. DOes anyone have the nice policia de judiciaria's number? He looks in need of some good news.

LittleBella · 08/09/2007 16:43

totaleclipse I disagree wiht you. I think there is much more hostility to parents now, than there was at the time Ben N. went missing.

I think Denise Bulger would be heavily criticsed today for having allowed James to be outside the shop by himself.

People have become much more cruel about parents' lapses.

It was the media who initially took against the Portuguese police - because they weren't releasing much information (as I recall). Since then the British police have also been involved, dna has been sent to the UK for analysis, British sniffer dogs have been used - are people really suggesting that they are all corrupt just because they are questioning the Mccanns? Noone has been charged with anything - they are just doing their job surely.

beansprout · 08/09/2007 16:44

Bobby - you did attack me. I don't have a problem with you, just find some of the stuff you post a bit worrying.

haychee · 08/09/2007 16:44

Take no notice dellgirl. You can speculate and state whatever you want or feel the need to.

The fact is none of us know we can only speculate/guess/assume.

dellgirl13 · 08/09/2007 16:45

any way not here to be patronised or bitched at by any one especially those who find swearing funny. its a mums site and one would expect better vocabulary

Possibly, but I just dont think if you are guilty of murder/manslaughter, you would'nt do everything in your power to ensure investigations carried on, or create more and more awareness, maybe for a while just so it looks good, but not for 4 months.

ragdollyanna · 08/09/2007 16:47

I agree Lillian.

Just because the Portugese police work differently (ie they do not feel the need to tell the press every thing that is happening with the case) doesnt mean that they are useless.

The press just seem to take great delight in slating them because they wont dish out stories for them every couple of days.

That's right, none of us know, but some of us prefer to adopt the "innocent until proven guilty" and have some compassion for people who are clearly living a nightmare, rather than make up awful stories to amuse ourselves.

PSCMUM · 08/09/2007 16:48

re police corruption - i'mk not saying all th epolic in the world are corrupt, or even that there is corruption here, i think there is incompetence here, for sure, but i doubt there is corruption, but I don't know. I was responding to Bobbysmum saying that any allegations of polcei corrutpion are totally unrealistic - comparing them to the moon landing conspiracy theories! I just wanted to say that I think police are corrupt sometimes, and incomptent sometimes, and so just becasue the police say something does not mean it is true.

haychee · 08/09/2007 16:48

As i recall, the parents wanted to release the clothing details but were not allowed at first. They also complained about the lack of official investiagtions at the very beginning. It does seem bizarre that if you had kiled accidentally or not your own child that a, you would be out dining with friends and b, that they ahve created a media circus that follows them all day everyday.
However, nothing is impossible. Parents do kill their kids as dellagirl has said, we dont like to think that there are parents that do, but it happens

ArguidaCod · 08/09/2007 16:49

"especially those who find swearing funny. its a mums site and one would expect better vocabulary "

montmerency · 08/09/2007 16:49

I feel the scenario that the family/friends conspired to cover up the death of a child is far fetched. However, what is even more ludicrous is the idea that they were able to store the body (in Portugeuse heat) - methinks they would have found more than dried blood in the car - the body would have been in a severe state of decomposition - unless of course they knew some locals with a freezer to hand.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

LittleBella · 08/09/2007 16:49

lol at expecting better vocabulary

That's like saying one expects better grammar, or spelling.

Unreasonable

beansprout · 08/09/2007 16:50

I think the explanation for the "media circus" which some people seem to assume was created by the McCanns for their benefit, was on the advice of police and media advisors who have constantly suggested that this would be the best way to get their daughter back.

dellgirl13 · 08/09/2007 16:50

i dont take notice of any one just not on her to be slagged of and patronised. i was just stating that murders within family appear to me more common than abductions as someone earlier brought up the issue.

LittleBella · 08/09/2007 16:51

Don't tell anyone, but I heard they bought a chest freezer from the local Curry's in Faro and had it delivered to their apartment in the dead of night so the press wouldn't notice...

bobbysmum07 · 08/09/2007 16:52

beansprout - when did I attack you? In what post?

And I did not compare police corruption in general to the moon conspiracy theories. I compared police corruption in this instance to the moon conspiracy theories.
