I was watching the news last night re Kate McCanns requestioning by the Portuguese Police. I have updated on the events this morning and it appears she will be declared as a SUSPECT today. Im shocked about this, what do you all think? Surely she didnt have anything to do with it?

Been watching the rolling news coverage on this - reports now saying that preliminary test results show traces of madelaine's blood in the boot of the McCann's hire car which they hired 25 days after she went missing???????

PinkChick · 07/09/2007 12:53

was the car not hired by anyone else in betweent he time she was taken and 25 days later?

huffpuff · 07/09/2007 12:54

i would presume so

huffpuff · 07/09/2007 12:55

I think we would all agree that all the way through this case certain things just havent added up - i sincerely hope the family are not involved but it certainly looks like the focus is turning to them

forsale · 07/09/2007 12:56

my thoughts too pinkchick, many people have access to hire cars including the employees. If it so happens madeleines blood was in the boot doesnt automatically point hte finger of blame on the mother

2mum · 07/09/2007 12:57

Im i have always felt strongly against them leaving Maddy alone. i do feel sympathy for them because they lost her. i really hope this doesnt turn out its something to do with the parents or friends who were there. [hmmm] I havent been suspecting them of anything ive just been angry at what happened. Hopefully the police find out the truth.

2mum · 07/09/2007 12:58

I meant not [hmmm]!

Nbg · 07/09/2007 12:58

What strikes me is that a car hired by the McCanns will have had Gerry in it too, so there must be something else that points the finger at Kate McCann.

I seriously hope that she is not involved and that poor little girl is out there somewhere.

PinkChick · 07/09/2007 12:58

i think the portugese police are bumbling through..the english police up to last week had 17 suspects for the murder of that young boy, the motorway shooting few weekss back..road shut down there and then, bugger the motorists waiting for hours, the crime scene would be destroyed if they had driven through..so far on in madeleiens case and nothing, no madeleine, no explanation?

expatinscotland · 07/09/2007 12:58

the mosque rules, naily! it's absolutely delish and dead cheap.

but not open on fridays between 1-2, alas!

nor is the scrummy falafel place in nicolson.

hmm.

might have to be gregg's today.

JudgeJudyAndExecutioner · 07/09/2007 12:58

Damn I bet they never thought of that!

I suspect that even as we type the portuguese police are thinking why oh why haven't we called in the mumsnet amateur sleuths?

preggersagain · 07/09/2007 12:59

its getting fishier by the minute imo! not sure what to believe now!

TraceyTwo · 07/09/2007 13:01

The papers were following there every move 25 days after Maddie disappeared, how could they of done anything then without being seen? It doesn't make any sense. Who hired the car at the time of her disappearance?

JodieG1 · 07/09/2007 13:02

They said an item of Kate's clothing was thought to have been sent for testing and that there might have been blood found on it.

i dont think its worth getting into what if she did do it, thats crazy, unfortunatly in this case, there has been no solid answers for the family or the press and everyone scrutinises each sentence, making of it what they/we will..the facts are she hasnt been found, unless they can prove mum or anyone lese did anything to her, theres no story, just so sad its so far on and no sign of her..at all, dead or alive

nutcracker · 07/09/2007 13:03

I am getting more and more confused by this and tbh haven't a clue what to think anymore.

ELF1981 · 07/09/2007 13:04

Why does this always descend into a battle between two groups on mumsnet?!

Let people discuss it - what are they harming?

I doubt the McCann family are wasting their time looking on mumsnet for what people are writing, much worse have been written in the newspapers, and I'm sure the police aren't popping in now and again to see what our opinion is, so why cant people discuss it?!

pagwatch · 07/09/2007 13:04

Ah JodieG1 - well perhaps there is another reason.

But as my DD has just lost a friend could you tell me what she should be doing because I am pretty sure she is not getting it right.

totaleclipse · 07/09/2007 13:07

pagwatch, what do you mean?, was madeleinea frind of your dd?

ELF1981 · 07/09/2007 13:09

pagwatch - not directed at me but I dont understand your last post?

JodieG1 · 07/09/2007 13:09

No idea what you're on about pagwatch but if you're being sarcastic then don't bother, if you have a problem with me then email me, I'm quite happy to provide you with my email address should you wish to "discuss" this more.

pagwatch · 07/09/2007 13:09

Dammit - posting on here ! On this thread! What is wrong with me today!

Thank god - off to see DS's new school so will not be dragged back.
Brand spanking new ASD school with all mod cons for my gorgeous boy - happy days! He starts on Monday. Wish me luck!

huffpuff · 07/09/2007 13:13

eh? have i missed something?

pagwatch · 07/09/2007 13:13

I'm going honest
my post just was refering back to WAY earlier posts about how people expect others to grieve. And no my daughter wasn't a friend of Madeleine but her friend died just a few weeks ago and working out how the kids are coping is like unravelling a ball of string - they have all taken it so differently.
We do all grieve differntly and I genuinely believe that anyone who expects us to behave the same is not being realistic
