I feel for his family. His wife and children must be feeling just dreadful.

It would be reasonable to listen to the defence side of the case before passing judgement?!

NadineBaggott · 26/07/2007 18:46

Don't know why anyone is shocked tbh. Folk like this are from all walks of life, high and low, rich and poor.

Didn't Pete Townshend said it was for 'research' too?

oh poor boy (his ds).

DoubleBluff · 26/07/2007 18:50

There is no reason to be looking at child porn unless that is what you enjoy.
No sane person would choose to look at it for any purpose, including research.
I ahve come across it in my line of work and it is distressing.
The 'research' excuse is crap.
You do not have to see it to know how awful it must be.

beansprout · 26/07/2007 18:50

What are they, cod?

jimmyjamas · 26/07/2007 18:50

he looks like a real slime ball. really creepy.

expatinscotland · 26/07/2007 18:51

The ol' 'It was for research purposes' defense. And the 'I was abused as a child' defense.

But that is the cycle though, isn't it? Being abused as a child make you more likely to go and do it to someone else

expatinscotland · 26/07/2007 18:53

Plenty of folks are unfortunately abused and don't go on to do the same.

It's not considered a suitable defense for doing that to a teenage girl.

I'm not sure it does, does it?

beansprout · 26/07/2007 18:54

It's not cause and effect but it does play a part in a lot of cases.

Hasn't the judge thrown out the other charges?

DoubleBluff · 26/07/2007 18:54

There are many adults out there who were abused as a child who do not go on to become abusers.
I feel sorry for him if he was abused as a child but it odoes not excuse what he has allegedly done now.

expatinscotland · 26/07/2007 18:55

And he could be making it up to save his own skin.

Paedos are notorious liars and manipulators.

beansprout · 26/07/2007 18:55

I don't think it is an excuse, I'm just saying that it is sometimes a factor.
