im sure he wont be ignoring you. possibly signals are down there. have you tried ringing the village hall? and i agree at least the babies are ok. Your aunt will be fine as well - if she misses her flight she misses it. can do nothing about it

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 01:27

If it was me, I'd quite enjoy it. A bit of an adventure, but my aunt is old and my dh has had to leave his car full of expensive work tools, which could be flooded or stolen.

they will be insured. best they are safe, dry and warm. Your aunt sounds like she likes a bit of adventure anyway if shes off to help orphans in romania

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 01:30

Oh thanks JP, voice of reason, you've made me feel slightly better.

rtl - please dont worry try ringing police station and asking where people are going/staying. they will advise you and let you know if the location is at any risk. dont forget evesham is quite a sleepy place - be more worried about the PYO strawberries and the Asparagus Festival

is there anything i can do?

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 01:38

jp lol at description of Evesham and thanks for the offer of help. I'll just have to ring him.

Well they stayed night in Town Hall, was pretty busy from what I can gather. Had croisants and juice etc for breakfast from Marks & Spencers, provided by the local council.

Still pretty dire, dh's car flooded out, but at least their safe.Think BIL is going to trya nad "rescue" aunt, he has a 4X4.

First thing he did was ring up ILs and now they're worried, purposely had not told them. Oh well, just grateful he's helping.

Bloody news, who's interested in how to skim read HP FGS, when half of England is in trouble.

good news then rtl - they're safe and fed

do keep us updated

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 09:58

Nobody can get in or out of Evesham, police are turning people away. Nobody knows anything!! Dh and aunt and a couple of others are still stuck in communicty centre.

Phoned the police to inform them of dh's abandoned car, ended up talking to force in sunderland. good grief absolute chaos!

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 10:25

My aunt has to get to Gatwick to do her volunteering for Romanain orphans. There is only about 5 people left in the community centre so there must be someway of getting out.
Tewkesbury is awful ds1 gf is updating us on the situation there.

Jammy - if you do decide to come over to Warwick I might be able to get down there and meet up briefly - it would do T good to get out for a bit, and you've not seen him yet have you? Or I could probably go down and have a look for you even?.

lunar - we did pop over and only about 4" of water in cellar it almnost didnt seem worth draining it out -

RedTartanLass · 21/07/2007 19:27

Well ignored all warnings and made the trip to Evesham, left about 11am. Borrowed ds1's 4x4 and went to "rescue" dh and aunt. Scared out my face, shaking and feeling sick, but felt I had to do something rather than sitting here worrying.

NIGHTMARE, it was like I war zone, abandened cars littering the roads, all sorts of bits of cars & caravans littering the place. Many many floods.

Anyway to cut and long and very scary story short, eventually got to Evesham, got to Gatwick and Aunt about to board plane to look after orphans in Romania.

8 hours solid driving...home safe.

Walked in and burst into tears.....
